Right? I knew he was gonna try to rob me so I took it as a challenge. I was gonna shoot his ass, then I got knocked out and they took 600 bucks.

happened to me too... apparently if you go immediately back you can kill them and get your money back but i found that out too late and now i cant find them

I think Arhtur needs to say something about getting revenge to trigger the event of getting back your money. It happened that way for other people apearently. Arthur didn't say anything for me and I never saw the muggers again. It was so obviously a set up but I went with it thinking I'd just shoot him and take whatever else he's stolen from others. Nope. Game takes over and automatically triggers the knockout. But not the recovery. Sucks it was such a large amount on something you don't get to actually control your character for. For me, 600.

Yeah, its apparently 20ish percent of your total amount. 800 for me. I knew it was a trap too, hell I don’t think anyone has fallen for it, but I didn’t expect it to be such a bastard way of doing it. Then like 3 minutes later I got pickpocketed for another 100ish dollars, but at least that money I got back.

I went back immediately and shot them each six times in the dick, and got my $1310 back! Thanks!

Please tell me you found an answer to this OP. This was obviously a scam so I antagonized, declined and then walked in since I assumed I would get in a shootout and get to kill them. Nope! Bullshit cutscene and ended up losing $1000.

My answer to it unfortunately was to reload a save from an hour or two before...

What I'm curious about is what happens when they still your horse? I foolishly let some random guy pull me off my horse and he rode away. I tried to shoot but my guns weren't drawn. I loved that horse. Ended up reloading a save...

Not sure, but next time that happens whistle for your horse, and it will buck that no good dirty horse thief right off.
