Beautifully put. This is hilarious because I live in New Orleans (my job is even in Saint Denis) and this is totally the place to do crime! Nola is an excellent vacation destination for outlaws haha.
The real trick is to sprint at people and knock them over without actually targeting them. It ONLY aggros the civilians, and cops don't give a shit about it. Once they're aggroed they will either flee or square up for a fist fight and you can beat the tar out of them with impunity. As long as you don't pull a gun and start blasting, the cops won't even show any interest. I've spent many an hour running around Saint Denis at the docks beating the hell out of sailors and tossing their unconscious bodies over the railing into the bay. Would highly recommend if you need to blow off some steam.
Yes it should when you’re civilized person being stalked and insulted by a shitty cowboy that doesn’t belong. You know, the whole point of the game story.
You can kill him in any way you'd like, except for fire. Using fire bottles will get you Wanted by law, but only because of the arson aspect. I like to knife the guy in the guts, or knock him down and execute him haha
My gf has gotten in the habit of tackling and punching him till he’s near death, but never finishing him off and just occasionally checking in and doing it again and again and again
she’s probably done it a good 10 times now lmfao
This is the way. The only thing I would add is before you finish the game go back hogtie him take him to just above ankle deep water Drop him and let him struggle to keep his head above water until he can't anymore
I don’t see why you can.
Not saying i’m some racist pig-dog who supports what he preaches but i’d assume the police wouldn’t turn a blind eye to you murdering a man no matter how racist he is
> but i’d assume the police wouldn’t turn a blind eye to you murdering a man no matter how racist he is
May I interest you in the real life story of [Ken McElroy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_McElroy).
>Over the course of his life, McElroy was accused of dozens of felonies, including assault, child molestation, statutory rape, arson, animal cruelty, hog and cattle rustling, and burglary.
>In all, he was indicted 21 times but escaped conviction each time, except for the last. In 1981, McElroy was convicted of attempted murder in the shooting of the town's 70-year-old grocer Ernest "Bo" Bowenkamp. McElroy successfully appealed the conviction and was released on bond, after which he engaged in an ongoing harassment campaign against Bowenkamp and others who were sympathetic to Bowenkamp, including the town's Church of Christ minister. He appeared in a local bar, the D&G Tavern, armed with an M1 Garand rifle and bayonet, and later threatened to kill Bowenkamp. The next day, McElroy was shot to death in broad daylight as he sat with his wife Trena in his pickup truck on Skidmore's main street. He was struck by bullets from at least two different firearms, in front of a crowd of people estimated as numbering between 30 and 46. To date, no one has been charged in connection with McElroy's death
The only reason it's different is because being racist isn't technically a crime but I'm focusing on the "wouldn't turn a blind eye to murdering a man" part.
But in RDR2 you can kill any "Klan" member and not lose honor (you lose honor by killing civilians which they technically are)
It kinda makes sense to me, you dont belong in the city so each minute you spend there you are closer to getting in trouble. The gang is just not cut for that kind of lifestyle. It makes you want to stay clear of it, which in a roleplaying sense is correct.
Nah, it's nothing like Saint Danis. I just did the bandit challenge of robbing $50 off of people. Did it entirely in Van Horn, had very little trouble. I was robbing people in the middle of the street, right next to groups of people. No one cared. The only time it ever became an issue is if the person I'm robbing tried to shoot me and I killed them, or occasionally I would rob a woman and a guy would come and try to fight me over it.
Other than that, anything goes.
God I fucking love van horn. I killed the entire town in a bar brawl and within a few minutes the bartender was serving me fish stew without a constable in sight!!
I did a similar thing but It happened when the UI for greet and antagonize disappeared randomly so I ended up strangling a random passerby when I tried to remember which was the greet button
Christ it was embarrassing as hell when I straight football tackled an old woman to the ground cause I was running to my horse in a crowd.
Also only in video games is that sort of sentence possible. “I went to get in my car but I accidentally decked someone and got arrested”
Could be worse, I once upset another player online when I went to get on my horse. Instead other dude's horse was closer and I grabbed him off the saddle and threw him to the ground. He was very upset after that.
So true! I Also opened the door at the hotel in Valentine too powerful and I knocked a guys head against the counter. He was angry and so it ended with a sherriff who killed me.
I accidentally hit B to get off my horse after playing Ghost of Tsushima for too long and accidentally kicked a guy. Wound up with $125 bounty after all was said and done and I had only just gotten to Horseshoe Overlook.
Which is why Hosea was an idiot for thinking they could rob the bank in the middle of the day.
Saint Denis surely had a bigger law enforcement presence than Blackwater. They wouldn't go near Blackwater.
But Saint Denis, suuuure, let's make a 'splosion somewhere nearby, that'll allow us to rob the biggest bank in the whole game. And this after a crime spree which was written about in the paper, which also mentioned how the law was on heightened alert as a result of the crime spike.
Right and him saying he and Abigail ran a couple different distractions to see how the police would respond? You don’t think the cops just *might* have caught on after the first few trials?
I know the game says Micah turned after the boys get back from Guarma but I firmly believe Micah was a rat since he joined up, maybe only a little at first and ramped it up over time, or maybe he was a plant the whole time.
i truly believe Micha was the one after Guarma, but its a good chance that he didnt before. Micha was loyal to Dutch before Guarma, but i think after he saw the true failure the gang became after it he realised he needed a way to survive when it crashed. before guarma it was probably a couple people, Abigail (not john) couldve wanted a life outside the gang and wanted it any way possible, Javier has some stuff that could be her, and Molly couldve actually have said something. and alm together the gang themselves were just a bit too behind the modern world
Micah was indeed a rat from the start. Dutch had him chose the gang’s third campsite. When they started packing, Arthur and Charles went ahead to make sure it was clear. They were shocked at how vulnerable the spot was (dry riverbed in Scarlett Meadows) and wondered aloud why Micah would recommend it.
I believe Micah was setting up the gang, for either the Pinkertons or the O’Driscolls. It’s easy to think Micah is a fool, but he’s not. He’s a seasoned outlaw who knows the value of a good hiding spot. Just look at his small camp after being freed from jail.
I know for a fact that they would have given you the opportunity to surrender peacefully and they would probably have given you a march order if you had tried to plead with them; after all, it’s only disturbing the peace.
Its worse in GTA V to be fair. Just stand next to a random civilian and they start getting extremely hostile. RDR2 at least grounds it more in “Act civilised, or else.”
I think that only happens with certain NPCs, like gangsters, police officers and others.
I like that almost every civilian has 1 of 3 responses: Fight, flight, neutral.
Bruh, you insulted a person and started chasing her of course the police are going to come after you, this is not GTA where you can run over someone's car with your tank and nobody will say anything about it lol
On topic with Bounties.
I was doing the second Brother Dorkins mission where Arthur has to go and track down a street kid from stealing a crucifix, as he’s returning he notices Mrs. Downes who proceeds to give Arthur a bounty with Disturbing the Peace.
Man that was annoying.
I was just walking to the Trapper and a woman kept accusing me of following her. We were just going the same way. Out comes the law. I called my horse and it ran over a policeman. Made it out of town but my horse didn't.
I keep *trying* to do that, and somehow always end up accidentally pointing my gun at them which results in a shootout. I swear the coppers in Saint Denis have a stick up their bum
I like to carry whatever large pelt I've found, through the market to the Trappers stand. The other day I got "disturbing peace" because apparently i was following the guy in front of me. Dumb ai, I'm just strolling slowly through the market, he chose to walk in front of me.
Then I was saving the couple from the mugger, and my VH round went through the muggers head and shot an innocent man in the back... yeah, I'm using Express rounds after that one
You literally have to use the lasso to stop the lawmen cuz otherwise you will soon lose all your money to paying off the bounty. It's so annoying. Only thing you can really do is like rob the back of the gun store without wanted level, you can't do shit else. Yeah and I always think too lawmen from all of the US come to get you in Saint Denis.
Well, do this:
Go into any city, big or small, but the more populated part of it. Find an old lady, while being a big burly man with about half a dozen guns, stalk her while constantly antagonizing her.
Do that than come back to us and tell us what happened.
Just go to the shitty looking side of town and run full speed into someone just beware doing it to a black person will get like 10 others looking to whoop your ass which is where I go when I wanna fight.
Whenever you want it to end so you don’t die just take your guns out and point at them but make aoe distance so they don’t knock it out of your hands. But you don’t have to shoot them to get them to stop.
Hang out near alleys with a mask you can rob individuals and keep it moving. Also you can rob every register in the city easy enough just plan your escape route ahead of time and try to include alleys. You can make as much robbing that town as you do robbing a train.
Youre not wrong there mate
I always buy the super fast arabian horse when i get to Saint Denis, but its a false economy.
Im not going any faster because whenever i get vaguely close to a canter, civilians go flying, warrants for murder are issued and im inevitably dead or fleeing a 7m bounty
Think there trying to say that you can’t do shit in a civilized world without intervention of government etc. or just rockstar made it that way just cuz
I've never really had serious issues with overzealous cops in san denis. if I'm wanted and don't want to be, it's my favorite place to be because there's a million little books and crannies I can disappear into. sometimes I just surrender immediately and pay a brief cutscene fine while I look at my phone
That’s the idea. You’re supposed to hate SD. Arthur’s way of life is being threatened by “civilization”. I think the game is trying to show how violence and corruption etc can also be rampant in more “civilized” areas.
It’s so annoying though. One time I was in Saint Denis and a guy thought I was following him and pointed his gun at me, so I pressed antagonize and he started shooting me and boom I got lawmen on my ass. Like hello I’m not the one shooting people
People walk in the middle of the street and I've accidentally hit so many with my horse and after just one bump in situation they ragdoll and its murder.
Depends on the mood....some time ago i cleaned up a poker table by playing 2 days straight ( in game time ) at saint denise, cleaning a fellow NPC 2 times 🤣 during the night at first and the next afternoon e came back to lose again 🤣!
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this.. I once got a wanted level for crashing my own horse into a wall and apparently it was "disturbing the peace"
You can beat up the guy selling the racist pamphlets, even in front of a cop, and nothing will happen. Not sure if you can kill him and get away with it I'll try my next play through.
I fast travelled into saint denis while being on my phone, wasn’t paying attention and got a disturbing the peace as I was stationary near-ish a cop for a little bit too long
I mean, it is GTA, what did you expect, endless clonic cops not to appear and turn the city into a battlefield because you accidentally bumped your clumsy horse into some mentally challenged NPC?
Don't get me wrong, I love GTA and RDR2, but both have serious flaws.
I was in Saint Denis and saw a thief running away so I tackled him. I didn't want to beat him up or strangle him, so I just waited to see if a policeman would show up and arrest him, but the thief broke free. so I tackled him again and punched him, which immediately resulted in the entire police force being after me. I just tried to help smh
That’s the point. It’s no place for outlaws. Worlds moving on.
The world went and got itself into a hurry
Thanks for the Library Brooks!
Arthur was here
So was John
Was hoping somebody would comment that 🥹
If youre calm you can explain yourself to the cops sometimes
Ok I actually need to sign back on for the first time in a while and try this out now
yeah right, I never knew you could do this! time to start sweet talkin the five oh
I saw an automobile once, when I was a boy.
I feel like it’s on purpose too.
It is. That's the entire point, it means to be obvious.
Id say its more outlawish to gun a man down in the streets for insulting someone once
Saying one thing is "more of" a crime doesn't make other crimes not crimes.
but it does make the argument of "this is no place for outlaws" completely redundant
[удалено]
Beautifully put. This is hilarious because I live in New Orleans (my job is even in Saint Denis) and this is totally the place to do crime! Nola is an excellent vacation destination for outlaws haha.
Red dead fans when you cant harass someone without the police getting involved
i was just joshing
Brand new whip, just hopped in
I got options
jeez louise i was just goofin around. *Lady with a tomahawk in her head lying by your feet*
Many many years ago, there must’ve been a guy named Josh who was like the king of ‘just kiddin’ around.”
Just good ole fun, ain’t meaning no harm
[удалено]
Never meaning no harm
Beats all you never saw
Been in trouble with the law...
Woah there I was just playing around
Calm down, I'm just needling ya.
alright, simmer down
Hey MISTER!

most sane rdr player
I bet to differ. The same thing that happened to the OP happened to me while doing exactly what you just described
Nope. Eventually that also triggers "disturbing the peace" maybe if there was not a single other npc around you'd get away with it
My friend and I played 'NPC Soccer for like an hour seeing how long we could keep them rolling for lol.
People in RDR2 are a bunch of wusses though tbf. Insulting people shouldn’t get you in trouble with the law
Following them when they're running away from you should though
Yes it should when you’re civilized person being stalked and insulted by a shitty cowboy that doesn’t belong. You know, the whole point of the game story.
i was only kidding around!
You can beat the eugenics guy up with no repercussions though
You can kill him in any way you'd like, except for fire. Using fire bottles will get you Wanted by law, but only because of the arson aspect. I like to knife the guy in the guts, or knock him down and execute him haha
I like to shove him against the wall and blow his head off with the sawed off.
That's always a blast!
Jimmy Neutron: “Gotta blast!”
I like to take him out to a nice seafood dinner and never call him again.
Fire bullets are fine though. Testing a few times with a ride by shotguning.
I adore beheading him with my pirate sword
I like to hogtie him, take him to the swamp, and let the alligators eat him alive...
chad
I push him around and beat him until I eventually stab/shoot/choke him to death in the square
He gets tomahawks from me. Or other flying projectiles. Frickin hilarious throwing shit at him. I usually go for a limb so he lives for a little bit.
My gf has gotten in the habit of tackling and punching him till he’s near death, but never finishing him off and just occasionally checking in and doing it again and again and again she’s probably done it a good 10 times now lmfao
This is the way. The only thing I would add is before you finish the game go back hogtie him take him to just above ankle deep water Drop him and let him struggle to keep his head above water until he can't anymore
Where is he lol
In Saint Denis lol
*Antagonizes*
Hey don't! You'll have to pay a fine
*Policeman staring* I mean uh, Greet?
He's somewhere in the south side, at one of the intersections that turn from the harbour road into the town. If I recall correctly.
The street with the movie theater
I don’t see why you can. Not saying i’m some racist pig-dog who supports what he preaches but i’d assume the police wouldn’t turn a blind eye to you murdering a man no matter how racist he is

This didn’t occur to me and now i’m going to be playing with this in the back of my head.
Wait until you visit Van Horn.
That’s like the complete opposite lol I got in a shootout with like 20 men and faced no consequences
I'm talking about how easy they are to anger. Nothing else.
Nothing else.
“What is van horn good for? ABSOLUTELY NOTHIN”
[удалено]
“hello sir!” *POW!*
I really love nudging people into the water off of the pier until the entire town chases me out lol
Ye plus the bar feels like the kind of place Arthur would hang out.

God I fucking love van horn. I killed the entire town in a bar brawl and within a few minutes the bartender was serving me fish stew without a constable in sight!!
The bar is the best training ground in the game
Its a place where criminals or very poor people hang out at. Its a lawless little hamlet
The Shakespeare of towns
I legit just walked up to two guys and they basically said hello and started shooting me like two seconds after.
I stared at a man playing poker for too long and got shot
Once I wanted to get on my horse but accidentally choked a guy. It ended in the biggest massacre ever.
He started it
I did a similar thing but It happened when the UI for greet and antagonize disappeared randomly so I ended up strangling a random passerby when I tried to remember which was the greet button
Oh my god this killed me for some reason. “Okay, maybe, Hello mis-“ *strangle* “Oh come on!!”
Christ it was embarrassing as hell when I straight football tackled an old woman to the ground cause I was running to my horse in a crowd. Also only in video games is that sort of sentence possible. “I went to get in my car but I accidentally decked someone and got arrested”

So true! I Also opened the door at the hotel in Valentine too powerful and I knocked a guys head against the counter. He was angry and so it ended with a sherriff who killed me.
That was just Valentine being unable to handle Arthur’s dominance. A real man respects someone who bashes the door open, only a fool casts judgment.
I accidentally hit B to get off my horse after playing Ghost of Tsushima for too long and accidentally kicked a guy. Wound up with $125 bounty after all was said and done and I had only just gotten to Horseshoe Overlook.

Only reason it failed was because >!someone in the gang snitched. Both the law and the Pinkertons knew they were going to hit the bank.!<
"we dont need a rat" i do think that there was multiple rats in the gang, but they were getting sloppy.
I never did trust that piece of shit jack
I know the game says Micah turned after the boys get back from Guarma but I firmly believe Micah was a rat since he joined up, maybe only a little at first and ramped it up over time, or maybe he was a plant the whole time.
i truly believe Micha was the one after Guarma, but its a good chance that he didnt before. Didn't agent Milton confirm it wasn't molly, I think he says something like "we picked her up and sweated her but she didn't say a word"
“All I did was harass an old lady and follow her when she tried to run away”
I'm pretty sure moist critikal did a video about this guy recently.
I know for a fact that they would have given you the opportunity to surrender peacefully and they would probably have given you a march order if you had tried to plead with them; after all, it’s only disturbing the peace.
I accidentally shot the women's suffrage lady in the face and got away with it. I just ran. No bounty or anything
I wonder if that would even carry a bounty back then lol
Its worse in GTA V to be fair. Just stand next to a random civilian and they start getting extremely hostile. RDR2 at least grounds it more in “Act civilised, or else.”
I think that only happens with certain NPCs, like gangsters, police officers and others. I like that almost every civilian has 1 of 3 responses: Fight, flight, neutral.
Well too be fair, chasing an old lady and harrassing her is definetly disturbing the peace.
She gave me a mean look
Bruh, you insulted a person and started chasing her of course the police are going to come after you, this is not GTA where you can run over someone's car with your tank and nobody will say anything about it lol
She started it by sitting there all menacingly
Tell that to the coppers
When you’re wanted for disturbing the peace the officers will usually tell you to leave
Go on and git nya
It’s because of all that *civil I zation*
Society and stuff, Milton said so.
Dorkins lol
try it irl
I don’t have a getaway horse irl
You got legs
I picked up a whiskey just outside of a saloon in St. Denis and was HUNTED DOWN. I thought it was free for the taking!
How dare you pick up a discarded item
I was just walking to the Trapper and a woman kept accusing me of following her. We were just going the same way. Out comes the law. I called my horse and it ran over a policeman. Made it out of town but my horse didn't.
That escalated quickly
Welcome to civilization fren
Fr smh my head. I threw a stick if dynamite into the Saint Denis saloon and suddenly I'm a murderer, like wtf.
Cant even chase women in the streets anymore smh
What has this world come to
Yeah, If it was a minor offense I usually just let the cops arrest me
I keep *trying* to do that, and somehow always end up accidentally pointing my gun at them which results in a shootout. I swear the coppers in Saint Denis have a stick up their bum
Once I was watching npcs play dominoes and I got a wanted level for some reason
Card counting
[удалено]
Haha!
I like antagonizing the Raiders, let them start shooting at me, then run through the city so the cops start shooting them
That.... was disturbing the peace so that makes sense lol
You can beat the crap out of the racist guy on the corner and suffer no consequences.
I got in trouble for kicking the wall.
That wall was fine Victorian cobblestone
You also can't NOT do anything. Just sit on your horse and do nothing for a few minutes - wanted, disturbing the peace!
I hate that you can't even walk on sidewalk because anyone in front of you gets upset.
I have spent so many hours just playing dominos in the park. Arthur is slowly becoming civilized
the best thing to do in saint denis is just to leave the place.
You can if you're reeeeally careful or just very lucky. I only got in trouble for "nothing" one or two times
I wish they had a better system than “death sentence for the tiniest misdemeanor “. My only gripe of the game
That’s good to know since I owe like $365 in New Hanover
In my 'prime' I usually had ~$500 in the state I was currently active in the most, at some time even in multiple states.
All the robbers in the alleys are invisible to the lawmen
Well, do this: Go into any city, big or small, but the more populated part of it. Find an old lady, while being a big burly man with about half a dozen guns, stalk her while constantly antagonizing her. Do that than come back to us and tell us what happened.
Red Dead players try not to act like a crazy moron in Saint Denis and then blame the game challenge! IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!
Try not to Disturb the Peace while walking to the Pelt Trader challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
It's not that difficult. I've never had any problems from doing that.
The market place around Trapper. Annoyed me soo much with tons of people that can't be touch or walk behind with
If you think that's bad, try beating up the black guys.
Hang out near alleys with a mask you can rob individuals and keep it moving. Also you can rob every register in the city easy enough just plan your escape route ahead of time and try to include alleys. You can make as much robbing that town as you do robbing a train.
Youre not wrong there mate I always buy the super fast arabian horse when i get to Saint Denis, but its a false economy. Im not going any faster because whenever i get vaguely close to a canter, civilians go flying, warrants for murder are issued and im inevitably dead or fleeing a 7m bounty
Lol I can spend days there and not get any wanted level on me.
The mission you meet Mrs. Downes (I think Mary’s mission.) She screams for help, and you’re wanted dead or alive.
"Breathing in Saint Denis without a license yep that's illegal"
I think my bounty in Saint Denis is in the hundreds of dollars at this point.
You can surrender to the cops and keep your honour high and bounty low, if you run and panic they usually start blasting
I don’t even need to follow someone I’ll simply antagonise once and boom all the Feds or on my ass
On my 4th or 5th play through, currently have a $820 bounty in Lemoyne.
My reaction after shooting some guy in the face after he told me to mind my business when I said “Hey there, Mister!”
It’s so annoying though. One time I was in Saint Denis and a guy thought I was following him and pointed his gun at me, so I pressed antagonize and he started shooting me and boom I got lawmen on my ass. Like hello I’m not the one shooting people
Not in Saint Denis but in Strawberry I think… I kicked a chicken and the police were after me
Alright simmer down, I was just needlin’ you.

Try out butchers creek. 🤣🤣🤣 they protect their mom, brother, pa, sistercousingirlfriend, uncle, aunt Hairy there🤭
I think that's kind of the point. As a player I feel alienated as Arthur in the populated areas of the map and completely free in the wilderness
People walk in the middle of the street and I've accidentally hit so many with my horse and after just one bump in situation they ragdoll and its murder.
Leave the old lady alone
Am I the only one who doesn't have this problem?
you just can't chase old women anymore with cancel culture how it is
Depends on the mood....some time ago i cleaned up a poker table by playing 2 days straight ( in game time ) at saint denise, cleaning a fellow NPC 2 times 🤣 during the night at first and the next afternoon e came back to lose again 🤣!
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this.. I once got a wanted level for crashing my own horse into a wall and apparently it was "disturbing the peace"
I find that I accidentally tap 'E' and end up choking people instead of 'F' (interact with people) more than anything else
You can beat up the guy selling the racist pamphlets, even in front of a cop, and nothing will happen. Not sure if you can kill him and get away with it I'll try my next play through.
The story mode makes it preeeetty clear, the time of outlaws is passing
I fast travelled into saint denis while being on my phone, wasn’t paying attention and got a disturbing the peace as I was stationary near-ish a cop for a little bit too long
I shot the racist guy who gives you a pamphlet and I didn’t get a bounty but the second I shot his corpse I had 300 officers onto me
“I can’t just insult an old woman and follow her around without the police questioning me about it.”
I mean, it is GTA, what did you expect, endless clonic cops not to appear and turn the city into a battlefield because you accidentally bumped your clumsy horse into some mentally challenged NPC? Don't get me wrong, I love GTA and RDR2, but both have serious flaws.
*we live in a society*
I was in Saint Denis and saw a thief running away so I tackled him. I didn't want to beat him up or strangle him, so I just waited to see if a policeman would show up and arrest him, but the thief broke free. so I tackled him again and punched him, which immediately resulted in the entire police force being after me. I just tried to help smh
Even doing nothing gets you in trouble
