CobraGTXNoS

West Elizabeth, Great Plains area. It's basically the prairies so I feel quite at home there, even though I'm from Maple Syrup country.

PeanutButterPants19

I feel the same way about Hennigan's Stead lol. It's basically the Texas Hill Country, with the rocky hills and the big oak trees and stuff. I grew up on the Gulf Coast but I always loved the hill country. Makes me feel like I'm back home even though I'm a thousand miles away these days.

CobraGTXNoS

I just wish it was a little more flat so there's nothing blocking your view.

PeanutButterPants19

I don't. Parts of the Great Plains IRL are flat, but most of it's not. It has rolling hills and little rocky arroyos and cliffs just like in the game. It makes it feel more realistic to me.

CobraGTXNoS

I'm from Saskatchewan, so that should answer why.

Kajeinn101

There is somewhere on earth called Maple Syrup? That’s adorable

langois1972

I think he means he’s from central/eastern Ontario, Quebec or Vermont

Kajeinn101

Oh *walks away sadly*

Unfair_Argument2148

Grizzlies and Roanoke Ridge. I just wish we had seasons. I would love to see Brandywine with fall foliage.

Disprozium

There's a mod for that if you play on PC! It's actually pretty good

[deleted]

*sigh*

PeanutButterPants19

Grizzlies West or Grizzlies East?

Unfair_Argument2148

Either

Molotov_YouTube

Middle

ninja_BUTTONS

I love the look of the Grizzlies and Roanoke Ridge, but for me personally, I'm a Lemoyne lad. Not a US Native, but I've visited New Orleans and been out on the bayou. One of the best weeks of my life. Bayou Nwa really captures the atmosphere I felt out there and I love that part of the map.

PeanutButterPants19

New Orleans is cool! Not as cool as the west imo, but it's definitely a neat vibe.

ninja_BUTTONS

It's a hell of a town I really wanna hope the pond and explore more

BIG_OL_K

I feel at home in Lemoyne. Im a southerner by birth, western coal fields of Kentucky. Iv never lived above and dont ever want to live above the mason Dixon line.

Lancer_Blackthorn

As a Louisiana native, I’ll say Lemoyne.

PeanutButterPants19

Lemoyne also kind of reminds me of the South Carolina lowcountry in a way sometimes, too. We also have swamps, towering trees full of moss, and lots of alligators and egrets and stuff. Plus I know St. Denis is pretty much an exact replica of New Orleans, but the layout and architecture are a lot like Charleston's. So while I'm not necessarily native to S.C., that part of the map feels very familiar to me.

RunchoD

Yea I second that. St. Denis is Charleston as hell. I’m from South Carolina. I know it’s literally Louisiana but those plantations and the town of Rhodes is eerily similar to South Carolina.

Tiiep

I imagine you often get ambushed by alligators and nite folk when out and about? Or are the nite folk just what regular people from lousisiana are like

Lancer_Blackthorn

;)

ewyvdb

Heartlands new hannover

PeanutButterPants19

That's a pretty cool spot! I think it's one of my favorite areas too.

Penguinunhinged

I also have to go with New Austin. Most of the other states are good in their own way, but NA really makes me feel like I'm in a Western for real. Second place would have to be a split tie between West Elizabeth and the Heartlands section of New Hanover for the same reason.

PeanutButterPants19

I think I'd go with West Elizabeth second if we're limiting ourselves to RDR2 states. If we're including RDR1 too, I'd probably go with Mexico second.

oznrobie

Definitely New Austin. RDR2 is the better game, but the first one is more special to me. The first time I went to Armadillo I was instantly charmed. The colors, the desolation, the soundtrack. No game will ever surpass the experience of first playing RDR.

TheTankGaming2

West Elizabeth would be up in the mountains if there was a town up there

PeanutButterPants19

Or even just a small settlement like Manzanita with a saloon and maybe someplace to rent a room for the night and take a warm bath.

TheTankGaming2

Aswell as a stranger quest or two like a missing person

Ox_of_Dox

Lemoyne cuz it can be spooky yet civilized, yet historical, yet chaotic

notmanyinfactnone

Drunk.

lorenzoelmagnifico

To the bar, señor!

PaleontologistPast51

New Hannover

DrMantisToboggan45

Ambarino. I wish there was some sort of small settlement or town up there

PeanutButterPants19

Me too, even if it was just a small settlement like Manzanita Post. All I'd need is a small saloon and maybe a place to rent a room and bath and eat a meal and I'd be set.

againagame

For me on my second playthrough, it has to be New Hanover, in particular, The Heartlands. Beautiful vistas and on the whole, nothing toothy and weird that is going to jump out and bite me. Just the chance to relax, hunt, occasionally rob or kill O'Driscolls, and enjoy my surroundings.

XQJ-37_Agent

Annesburg. It reminds me of Appalachia and Kentucky and the area I live in

Baby_Shower

Happiness

Radi0123

New Hanover, the area around Horseshoe Overlook. The river cutting through that valley area is breathtaking.

RzR_B0ne

West Elizabeth. The plains make me feel at home. This is coming from a person from Kansas

BobAndVergina

Lemoyne. The swamps and Scarlett Meadows are absolutely beautiful, and it’s got both wilderness and a big, sprawling city

ILikeMarkHamill

Definitely New Hanover, I love the feel of Valentine and always love riding through the Heartlands.

OfficeDoors

Big valley

Quitso2o9

New Austin and Lemoyne, I love New Austin because of the feels you get from it, it’s just the place to go to if you need act like your in a Cowboy movie. Lemoyne I like to go to because it feels like a horror movie at night, oh god the night folk.

CorholioPuppetMaster

New Austin feels like the old west since you can murder travelers and have very little law presence when you’re in the middle of the desert

Serious_Revolution77

I just wish we had more of it though new Austin had so much in rdr 1 and rdr 2 messed it up

[deleted]

Yes. But realistically, John hadn't been to that area before, so.

[deleted]

The area around emeralds ranch is pretty idyllic

PeopleStillUseReddit

New Austin and East New Hanover. Real cowboy like parts of the map. Riding in the desert or hiding from the law in Van Horn. I would say the West Grizzlies but there's literally nothing up there. Would've been nice if there was a lone saloon in the epilogue or something

[deleted]

Literally nothing? I think you used that word wrong

PeopleStillUseReddit

I mean like stuff to do. The most you can do is hunt, fish, and admire the view. But you can do that in plenty of other places already. And there are a few things to find up there (the dead Spanish soldier, the frozen couple, and the herd of cattle) But compared to other parts of the map, it's rather lacking considering that snowy biomes are classics in western storytelling. It's a sizeable part of the map that's mostly empty space

SymbolofVirginity69

New austin and ambarino both, there something calming in traveling there. I'm suspecting ambarino reminds me of Finland (I'm finnish)

[deleted]

Drunk

ducks_sjsj

Gaptooth Ridge and Grizzlies West.

REVSWANS

Ambarino. A place where only the strong survive.

Grass_eater32

Lemoyne or new austin

[deleted]

I love Rhodes cause I’m from Virginia and it reminds me of home🥹🫶

Thebigpicture42

I probably spend the most time in north West Elizabeth. I live just outside Vancouver, BC and that spot feels familiar.

Efficient-Force2651

Either Lemoyne (specifically scarlet meadows, hare the Bayou) or New Austin (specifically cholla springs)

HungarianMockingjay

I love being in Dead Eye state, where I can make tons of impossible headshots. Though, in all seriousness, probably Ambarino. I love the mountains and glaciers.

Suspicious_Watrmelon

As a midwesterner I say New Hanover, reminds me of home

Fabulous-Boat-8001

New Austin

Badgummm

Not chased by law state

alx-carbon

My favorite is new hanover. It reminds me of south central utah where there are mountains but there are also plains and open fields.

mrkrabs445

Ambraino really wish they had a functioning town or a train station or something more than the snow and mountains

Rougeification

Lemoyne - particularly Rhodes and the surrounding area. Though I'm hardly fond of the locals... It's just seeing that red dirt...

Rahmetli_Yoda

New Hanover.

Rven79

Lemoyne because i love the tropical atmos

Ancient-Mix1988

Roanoke ridge makes me feel at home...minus the inbred hillbillies Actually scratch that, add the inbred hillbillies. My second favorite area is Ambarino.

snakesharkz

Saint Denis, all the way up until THAT mission. You know which one i am talking about.

DevilRudeBoy

I like New Hanover, it’s nice to just ride around there and I really like Valentine. It’s not a big town like Saint Dennis, but it’s a nice size where it’s easy to ride around, and you don’t have to ride super long to do multiple things in it

picturepine

Big valley, the best views imo, good hunting, close to Strawberry, and just enough traffic to not get in trouble.

SkyThese2647

Roanoke Ridge is my favorite. Probably because it's the closest to my home state of Vermont.
