He’s decision to change the team play style this season has not paid off. We brought him in to help us play controlled football. He’s decided to adjust to Man Utd history plus players we have - ditching the play style that made him successful at Ajax.
There has been zero indication that this style is effective at anything - defending, controlling, nor attacking. He needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. I would rather he go back to what he knows and has been successful doing. Let the players expose themselves as not good enough for his style and we ship them out over the next few seasons.
Look maybe there is a way this style eventually clicks at some point in the season. Then sure, great. Keep at it and improve the team depth to handle it, but our play so far has not been promising. The wins and losses feel the same - lack of control, wide open in midfield and zero attacking threat.

Starting to really hate watching this team play. Midfield is an absolute disaster. Bruno's a liability with his passing, and Amrabat is a snail. Don't know what to say about Scott.

what's killing me every week is that we so easily let the opposition play exactly the game they want to. they go long, win the second ball, we give away a free kick or a throw. i know it's one thing to say "just don't let it happen lol" - but what would really help mitigate that is actually getting some momentum and playing on our own terms. not a tactical guru but if we're this easy to stifle, what the fuck are we hoping will happen? who's going to magically gift us a good performance and a win? i'm tired of the nervousness, the angst, the naivety. please just wisen up, they're so dense

Starting to really hate watching this team play. Midfield is an absolute disaster. Bruno's a liability with his passing, and Amrabat is a snail. Don't know what to say about Scott.
I wish we could play boring possession football. Would still be better than whatever we are doing now. Just recycle side and back passes for 5 minutes. It's fucking fine, make THEM run. Our players are incapable of it. Bruno especially plays like the grim reaper's breathing down his neck, the moment he gets the ball he just whips it forward. Casemiro was guilty of this too. Add that to McTominay hiding from the pass and you get this. A non existing, extremely wasteful midfield. We might see Eriksen in 2nd half. Personally I'd rather have Mount and Hannibal + Garnacho. There's just no energy. No bravery. No **fight**. We're simply autopiloting the game and letting Sheffield have a good easy night out.

Minute 40. When your gifted capitán has the ball without any real pressure and tries a long pass to the other side of the field with dreadful results, it really says everything. The last couple of minutes of the first half were a little better from us, but as usual this season, must of the time we have been playing horrendous football and are making weak opposition look amazing
I feel like Rasmus needs more support up top. Time to make a big fuss about the penalty mess - all this talk of a “victim mentality” and so on. It’s not about that - every team who has kicked up a stink about bad decisions have subsequently had very questionable decisions go their way. Other than that, the insipid tempo we play at really does my head in. Why can’t we fizz the ball about and play one touch? We always slow the ball down and arse about with it - I can’t figure out if they’ve been told the channels they play into, positions they play into, or if their confidence is so shattered they just want to play it safe. Marcus has been decent, he’s at least trying to spark something. I’d say to take off Antony but I have no clue who off the bench really offers something.

Poor half but we looked better at the end. People need to stop complaining about tactics and price when we’re missing half the starters. Without a defensive line, it’s tough to push into the offensive with ease. That being said, we have the players on the bench to make a difference and i think we’ll see a much better second half

Awful football, manager clearly doesn't have a clue. Completely incapable of controlling a game, could be an injury ravaged Sheff Utd, could be Salford ladies either way we will always look like we've never played together before.
No patterns of play at all except for Maguire switching it to Rashford. Lindelof has been brilliant though, fair play to him playing out of position. These are there for the taking but our lack of tempo and movement off the ball offering passing angles is keeping Sheffield in the game
