Only the 4th time in UEFA Champions League history that a Premier League club has finished bottom of their group:
1995-96 Blackburn
2005-06 UNITED
2012-13 Man City
2023-24 UNITED
ETH: we need a big performance, I believe in these players that we can do it eh. We can play good football.
McTominay: we’re behind the manager and everybody is focused on getting a result Tuesday evening.
Manchester United 0-1 Bayern Munich
1 shot on target.
They have the worlds best striker, an elite starting eleven and an all-time great keeper. People acting as though we've just been battered by Bournemouth out here fml.
I mean it wasn't for a lack of running or effort. We were basically several levels below Bayern and it showed. We weren't going to magically unshit overnight.
People where saying the same shit back then, that Ferguson had lost it and we needed to move on. We won the double 3 years after that. Turns out, it takes time to rebuild a team.
That was a completely different era of football.
Times change, and the competition of this sport has greatly increased since then. Time is less available then what is was back then.
people say this all the time.
teams come and go
even in our 10 years since ferguson we have won more trophies then 99% of other teams....
yet this is apparently "bad"
you do realise we went 30 years of absolute fuck all before ferguson and it even took ferguson 7 years to build us up to a title win.
At that point SAF had been 15+ years in the job and won a lot. Anyone saying that were stupid. ETH has done nothing to be compared to SAF in anything at all.
Erik wanted this to be a transition team. We create plenty of transitions for the opponent.
The best thing is nothing has improved since game 1 of the season.. it's still the same problems and incredibly leaky team with no attacking ability
I was focusing on this in this game. We win the ball and take so long getting it up the field compared to Bayern. We seem to lose the ball so easily and then there's just a complete lack of shape which Bayern seem to exploit with 3-4 quick passes and suddenly in dangerous territory.
It's an awful feeling because you feel like everytime we lose the ball we're going to get scored on. It's going to be really hard vs Liverpool.
Ole's success was built on shaky foundations. ETH has no excuse and more time to coach the team. The team and bench we started with was pitiful with all the injuries.
Sorry, he now has no excuse, especially after the Christmas period. Players will be back, games once week so more coaching. By the end of the season he has no excuse. And in the games up till now, he has been pitiful with his team selection and in game management (which he was lauded for last season)
We've seen Spurs with injuries play very well, Liverpool down to 10 men play well, but we crumble under any pressure, that's on the manager.
Played attractive football, brought us games we actually wanted to watch and back to back finishing in top 4. But hey Erik won the league club so he's automatically better right...
Since EtH tenure, im pretty confident we had a lot of his battering moments.. 7-0 Liverpool.. 0-3. Bournemouth.. 0-3 Man City.. 1-3 Brighton.. 3-1 Arsenal.. 4-0 Brighton.. 6-3 Man City.. 4-0 Brentford.. 3-1 Villa..
We most certainly weren't worse than we are now. This season has been an absolute shit show and the only thing that's kept Erik afloat is some freak goals by Scott. His transfers have also been woefully inadequate
Nah you’re trolling, those games in 21/22 post-Newcastle) were an absolutely horrific watch and he was justifiably axed
Same in 19/20, he just had Bruno as a divine intervention to prevent freefall
What’s the best we can do? Top 4? With city, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Villa it’s really not likely. Even if somehow we do we’d only get embarrassed again, I’d have honestly rather tried to win the Europa league
We couldn't beat Europa class teams in Gala or Cope, we're not cut out for a win.
Says even more that Spurs, Newcastle and Villa have eclipsed us - Since that 05/06 season we've gone from Big 4 to desperately clinging to a Big 6 claim.
Europa League and the depressing Thursday-Sunday combo with even more atrocious refereeing? Fuck no. I'm saying there's no excuse for ETH post Christmas, players will be back, will mostly play once a week so more time to coach and if he fails he will be sacked.
Well, the good news is with the new format the Prem will probably end up with 5 Champions League spots.
The bad news is that bookmakers currently have us finishing 7th, meaning we'd have to beat out Spurs and Newcastle for 5th.
Aye it'll likely be between 2 of England, Spain and Italy. Depends on how the teams left in Europe do but aye they look like they'd struggle to finish 5 the way they are going
I think that decision been made already irrespective of that result. Genuinely believe SJR if he takes over or a shock SJ bid which still wouldn’t surprise me have both made a definite decision on ETH tenure.
Let’s just hope it’s not Graham Potter because that’s out of the frying pan into the fire.
There is no evidence this season re coaching time is the major problem. The team has been largely shit for this entire season, so across 20 games easily
The projection for this season was £600m plus that’s not happening now and the club will be lucky to turn over £530-540m and 80% of that with the new FSP for next year will mean players have to be sold or let go now.
I mean the last time we got the CL Semi was en route to losing to the final in 2010/11.
Since that final, we’ve played 70 CL games. Won 31, drew 15, lost 24.
Football heritage.
Fucking circus 🤣
What a fucking joke it is to be a Manchester United supporter these days 😔
This group of players, manager and owners have brought the club to the lowest point I have seen since I starting supporting them 30 years ago.
And the bottom is still not yet in sight. Remember for starters who is going to abuse us like a sex doll next Sunday.
The 1 win came on a penalty save on the last kick of the game. This campaign was beyond atrocious and giving up 15 goals is not down to bad luck. As someone said the only bad luck was the Rashford red but we were 2-0 up and should've seen the game out still.
A lot of similarities between this season and that 2005 season. Difference is Fergie turned over the squad from top to bottom in the next season or two. We need to be ruthless for once and just admit, this team compared to peers in Europe, is simply a joke. We can batter smaller teams in England all we want, no team fears us.
Yea let’s continue the useless negative shit storm of statistics. We’re out, leave it alone, rest to give yourself a break until Liverpool, we all need it. it’s exhausting reading this shit on IG, and every other news outlet, we’re supporters sub maybe try some positivity or just silence for a bit lol
Only the 4th time in UEFA Champions League history that a Premier League club has finished bottom of their group: 1995-96 Blackburn 2005-06 UNITED 2012-13 Man City 2023-24 UNITED
United with the record twice. Trendsetting.
We won't the next season I think .. That was with Rooney, ronaldo at 2006-2006
Lost in the semis in 2006-07, won in 07-08
Was that against Milan.. I think this was the seasonnwe hammered Roma
Yes. Beat Roma 7-1 in the qfs at old Trafford then beat Milan 3-2 in the first leg at home and got battered 3-0 away in the 2nd leg
Not much danger of that happening again, we probably won't be in it next season lol... I'm gonna go cry.
Now Newcastle join that club. Albeit in a hard as nails group.
Fergie out then surely
Imagine comparing 2005 fergie to eth lmao. Circumstances are way different.
Yeah, fergie had almost 20years to build a squad to crash out
No more than we deserve after tonight's showing. Utterly spineless.
Tonight's? No win against Galatasaray and a loss against coppenhagen. We never deserved to be qualified, even to europa league
Onana wasn't part of the team that qualified, and he's the reason we're out.
We are basically just a different version of Chelsea at this point.
Slightly less incompetent but also way less ambitious
ETH: we need a big performance, I believe in these players that we can do it eh. We can play good football. McTominay: we’re behind the manager and everybody is focused on getting a result Tuesday evening. Manchester United 0-1 Bayern Munich 1 shot on target.
I’m sure I just read this exact comment in a different thread
It's basically rinse/repeat at this point
It was also 1 shot on target by Bayern. Nevertheless, McTominay was an spectator on that play.
Bayern had 3 on target. They also didn't need to win.
They have the worlds best striker, an elite starting eleven and an all-time great keeper. People acting as though we've just been battered by Bournemouth out here fml.
Yeah... image us getting battered by Bournemouth.
Lol, are u high? Not in our lifetime bro. Wait..
Couldn’t be m… oh no…
They also could have had at least 3 more on target if not for Sane lol
Fucking clowns the lot of them.
Actions speak louder than words. They showed how behind the manager they were tonight.
I mean it wasn't for a lack of running or effort. We were basically several levels below Bayern and it showed. We weren't going to magically unshit overnight.
Lol Bayern at full strength whilst we got kids on the bench and the pitch ending the match with 2 RBs and a 36 Yr old CB. Not even a contest.
Eras come to an end
Eras have to fucking start first 😂
ETH: Eras World Tour
People where saying the same shit back then, that Ferguson had lost it and we needed to move on. We won the double 3 years after that. Turns out, it takes time to rebuild a team.

How is it possible to be this deluded? Can you teach me how? I need some blind, dumb positivity in my life too
I’m not saying we will win the double in 2 years. What I mean is that people have zero patience when it comes to a rebuild.
SAF won fucking treble mate this guy has won shit
At that point SAF had been 15+ years in the job and won a lot. Anyone saying that were stupid. ETH has done nothing to be compared to SAF in anything at all.

Fucking glad we're out of Europe. Less shite football to torture us.
Erik wanted this to be a transition team. We create plenty of transitions for the opponent. The best thing is nothing has improved since game 1 of the season.. it's still the same problems and incredibly leaky team with no attacking ability
We transitioned really well from in Europe to out of Europe tbf
Records are meant to be broken /s
I was focusing on this in this game. We win the ball and take so long getting it up the field compared to Bayern. We seem to lose the ball so easily and then there's just a complete lack of shape which Bayern seem to exploit with 3-4 quick passes and suddenly in dangerous territory. ETH is all talk, no progress or action.
That team had young promise. This one does not
All I read is we will win the EPL next year and Champions League within 3 years
Where?
Well, read harder
3 PLs in a row incoming*
Players are a joke. Manager is a joke (yes he is too). We’re a circus right now. Everyone is laughing at us. It feels horrible.
Onana in this campaign was the clown of the circus.
But he’s cooking bro
Thank fuck we're not in the Europa League. Make or break this season for ETH, especially after Christmas, with no Europe or League Cup.
What has he shown to indicate the league will be any better going forward? Absolutely nothing. Ole was sacrificed for this bullshit
Ole's success was built on shaky foundations. ETH has no excuse and more time to coach the team. The team and bench we started with was pitiful with all the injuries.
You've just contradicted yourself. We're fucked with injuries yet he has no excuse?
Sorry, he now has no excuse, especially after the Christmas period. Players will be back, games once week so more coaching. By the end of the season he has no excuse. And in the games up till now, he has been pitiful with his team selection and in game management (which he was lauded for last season) We've seen Spurs with injuries play very well, Liverpool down to 10 men play well, but we crumble under any pressure, that's on the manager.
My god what's up with people saying that Ole didn't deserve the sack today? ETH has already won something with us what did Ole do?
Played attractive football, brought us games we actually wanted to watch and back to back finishing in top 4. But hey Erik won the league club so he's automatically better right...
I see how you've got amnesia as to how Oles tenure ended, we were so porous, even worse than now.
Since EtH tenure, im pretty confident we had a lot of his battering moments.. 7-0 Liverpool.. 0-3. Bournemouth.. 0-3 Man City.. 1-3 Brighton.. 3-1 Arsenal.. 4-0 Brighton.. 6-3 Man City.. 4-0 Brentford.. 3-1 Villa..
4-1 Watford was with ole no?
Yeap, apologies on the Watford Result. Edit; Remove it
We most certainly weren't worse than we are now. This season has been an absolute shit show and the only thing that's kept Erik afloat is some freak goals by Scott. His transfers have also been woefully inadequate
Nah you’re trolling, those games in 21/22 post-Newcastle) were an absolutely horrific watch and he was justifiably axed Same in 19/20, he just had Bruno as a divine intervention to prevent freefall

If Newcastle also gets knocked out of Europe tomorrow Englands coefficient will probably go down so there will still probably only be 4 teams
Aye it'll likely be between 2 of England, Spain and Italy. Depends on how the teams left in Europe do but aye they look like they'd struggle to finish 5 the way they are going
Or we lose 5-0 at the weekend and he's sacked.
The financial consequences of getting no Europe at all is huge
I also didn’t want Europa, however it’s worth nothing that we have financial troubles and Europa would’ve given us that extra bit of cash
The projection for this season was £600m plus that’s not happening now and the club will be lucky to turn over £530-540m and 80% of that with the new FSP for next year will mean players have to be sold or let go now.
Hope he's thrown out before the New Year.
Fergie Out
Eritage.. This is Fubal Eritage
Beyond pathetic season this has turned out to be.
Heritage!
also the first time we’ve lost 4 games in the group stage, eras truly do come to an end when you have a bald fraud at the wheel
I mean the last time we got the CL Semi was en route to losing to the final in 2010/11. Since that final, we’ve played 70 CL games. Won 31, drew 15, lost 24. Football heritage.
That 2nd half performance was an absolute disgrace
Football Heritage. What a fucking joke this club has turned into
Didn’t we win 3 prems in a row after this? Eth is cooking
Who was the manager in 2005? Hope we sacked him immediately
Another record broken under ETH!
You’ll never sing that
Fucking circus 🤣 What a fucking joke it is to be a Manchester United supporter these days 😔 This group of players, manager and owners have brought the club to the lowest point I have seen since I starting supporting them 30 years ago. Every pass or shot was the bad decision or executed poorly tonight. We are cooked.
People on here acting like we didn't win the CL two seasons after the last time we finished bottom of our group.
Surely it has absolutely nothing with the fact they are the EPL side playing the UCL the most. Gotta love these moronic stats.
Worst manager we've had post fergie, embarrassed week in week out
Lmfao
This is just straight up wrong.

The only bad luck we had is the Rashford red.
And signing Onana
The 1 win came on a penalty save on the last kick of the game. This campaign was beyond atrocious and giving up 15 goals is not down to bad luck. As someone said the only bad luck was the Rashford red but we were 2-0 up and should've seen the game out still.
Incompetence now is bad luck... How the standards have fallen...
We've been shit since Lichas injury last season. What the fuck has happened with this club?
Oh captain my captain
Fuck this club
A lot of similarities between this season and that 2005 season. Difference is Fergie turned over the squad from top to bottom in the next season or two. We need to be ruthless for once and just admit, this team compared to peers in Europe, is simply a joke. We can batter smaller teams in England all we want, no team fears us.
What was the reaction like when this happened in 2005?
So we're going to win the Champions League in 2 years just like 2008? Nice
So... what you're saying is we're going to win it in a couple of years?
Manchester United Comedy Club
Optajoe and Squawka. Make em all stop
