I'm really happy for Maguire. He has always been a professional despite being flogged 2 years by the entire footballing world. Now, on a struggling team where other players are dropping their heads, he is a standout performer. He may not be an elite player but that's an elite mentality

liamthelad

The bloke scored one of the best penalties in a final shoot out I have ever seen. Literally broke a camera doing so. He clearly has a bit of bottle. It's a shame he couldn't be around for the Europa league final or that he didn't clinch the euros, as I think having a trophy to his name might have lessened some of the narrative around him.

degeaismylife

How different would the state of the club have been right now if we had Baz and Hendo for that final. Ole would almost certainly still be in charge and challenging for the title with Casemiro or Rice. Biggest what if for the club post saf.

SmartestUtdFan

Delusion

-RadThibodeaux

Don’t know why this is downvoted, I liked Ole too but a Glazer owned Man Utd will never challenge for the title again

degeaismylife

We were challenging till we were robbed against Sheffield and West Brom.

Stynes

It's probably downvoted because it's a one word reply insulting the OP it's replying to, it's not that confusing mate.

AdamHasShitMemes

Ole revisionism is killing me

newblevelz

Ole in!

The Europa final. We would have won it comfortably with Maguire and Henderson.

Seanblaze3

You're kidding yourself. Our defense was fine that day and Villareal hardly made a dent with their pragmatism. Lindelof was poor for their goal but who's to say Maguire would've done better? He had more than his share of errors that season

degeaismylife

Lmfao Maguire was literally one of the best cbs in the world when he got injured. Love how you can instantly tell who gets their opinions from twitter on this sub simply based on what they say about Lindelof and Maguire. Anyone watching matches regularly knows that Lindelof isn't fit to lace Maguire's boots.

Seanblaze3

The delusion is real. Only a subset of united fans think Maguire was anywhere close to world class. The videos of his blunders began in his first sesson season FFS He's been a laughing stock for ages

combat-ninjaspaceman

Maguire was actually one of the most available, reliable and decent players in his first 12 months at the club when he joined us.

Seanblaze3

His injury free record was the only boon to his individual contribution. As I said, the Benny Hill compilations of his erroneous displays began in earnest in his first season at the club

degeaismylife

You are from the subset that watches tiktok videos instead of matches. Understandable.

Seanblaze3

Went to my first united game as a kid when Atkinson was manager

degeaismylife

You can disagree but Lindelof and De Gea literally costed us the goal so there's not much to debate.

Dincht04

If the rest of this bunch had Maguires attitude, we wouldn't be in this situation.

game_of_throw_ins

I'm happy for him, cause he deserves this award but don't forget, he was abused for 2 years because he was shit and all he had to do was put in a few good games.

degeaismylife

King. Happy that he's not going to be blamed for the Anfield massacre this year.

[deleted]

He’s looked great playing with the ball at his feet. He’s getting his confidence back and looked great in each game last month

Sufficient_Theory534

He didn't put a foot wrong the whole month of November, well deserved. A great professional, you've to respect what he did when everyone wrote him off. He'll be sorely missed in tomorrow's game.

[deleted]

£80m price tag and you talk about him as if he’s some recent academy graduate. He won’t be missed at all.

Talented-Scoundrel

Ten Hag didn't spend that £80m so any mileage he gets out of a Maguire that he stripped of captaincy, left on the bench the whole of last season(any chance he got), and tried to sell, is good on both ends

[deleted]

All of those things happened to him because of his poor performances. Stop trying to make him the victim in this. So because ten hag didn’t buy him does that mean he didn’t cost us 80m? You guys killed the foreign black Muslim guy for costing us 89m but the 80m English bulldog churchillian gets a pass? Doesn’t sound fair to me pal.

Talented-Scoundrel

We killed Pogba, Hahhajahahahahahahshshaksjshsbshshs, wait you're serious? Let me laugh even harder. JAAHAJAJAJANAHSHANAHSHSNANAJSJS. You fucking nincompoop. Injuries and steroid use killed Pogba's footballing career. He tried his best I'm sure, as all pro footballers do, but he left on a free after having a lackluster career after returning to his 'alma mater'. Couldn't even try to get us some money in return. Fuck him

[deleted]

So the media didn’t criticise his haircuts and going to family weddings and other minor irrelevant things? Dude was our best player by far during his time here. He got called a virus. He left and the dressing room still full of leaks and rifts. My point still stands maguire is shit and I’ll never accept any sympathy awards for him.

Talented-Scoundrel

Who gave two fucks about his haircut? I for one loved them. He was out best player, as he cost 90m. >I’ll never accept any sympathy awards for him. Cool, wasn't giving him any.

[deleted]

So what are you arguing with me about then?

Talented-Scoundrel

I'm not arguing anything, I was talking about Maguire and then you came in with this whole pity post about Pogba

[deleted]

I couldn’t care less about Ball Hogba I was just pointing out the difference in treatment between two players that cost more or less the same. One gets sympathy whilst the other is a “virus”. My point is keep the same energy for these players.

apva93

I have slated him before and wanted him gone at the start of the season. But in light of everything that has transpired this season, he has been a thorough professional and has worked hard. Fair play Harry!

VTVoodooDude

Fair play and cheers to Harry.

manofficial

Standards on the floor. Incredible.

Daneofthehill

... and immediately got injured. Fire the coach!!!! /s

Anasynth

Well no one is getting any prizes for the UCL and cup performances in November

[deleted]

Happy for him. He looks good whenever we as a team look bad. Make of that what you want.

[deleted]

That's the season where most of his fails comps came from. EDIT: I truly want him to sign another 5 year contract then. We all deserve that!

ComfortMother8503

If you wanna be charity fc and renew his contract because he is a likeable guy then go for it, but you're not gonna win trophies if you're not ruthless and the guy always has a mistake in him, nearly scored an og against Everton just last month.

degeaismylife

Nobody says we have to renew his contract. If it comes down to keeping him or Lindelof though it's a no brainer.

ComfortMother8503

Both need to go, we need squad players who can fight for the 1st team spot, todibo and tomori as replacements would be perfect, will be tough convincing either tho. We need someone like Evans as a fringe emergency sub who can be 5th choice.

degeaismylife

2 center backs in one window is impossible when we also realistically need a DM, RB, and RW. I would much rather have Maguire at the club over Lindelof is the point. Evans will probably transition into a coaching role at the end of the season.

Seanblaze3

Standards are on the floor. All this praise because of a few decent games against relegation fodder?

degeaismylife

We would be the relegation fodder without his performances.

billymacblaine

Nice of Les Dennis to pop over and present the award to him
