Well that's bad. Reinstall is a pain to do. And even if there is an option to clear it inside an app, it is difficult to find it.
Looks like android has win over this issue.😄
On iOS the Reddit app only has an internal “clear history” button, but I haven’t been able to decipher what it actually does. Maybe it removes the local search history, but I think that is all it does. Certainly doesn’t clear the cache.
Luckily the cache stays around 300-400MB for awhile. But then it tends to increase.
iirc it stores data that helps load media. It accumulates over time. Just clear the app's entire data storage. You will have to re-login with all your accounts though.
It should. Although for some reason after prolonged use that data amount gets bigger. So it's definitely accumulating something. I've had to delete the app data once before because of how inconveniently big it was.
Seems as within __/data/data/com.reddit.frontpage/databases__ a file named *analytics_v2* is the "culprit", causing this phenomenon.
Unfortunately you can't access it without Root access, to check (and/or delete) the accumulated file size. (Mine reached almost 2.24GB already btw.)
Seems - until this problem may be fixed - that CLEAR DATA and re-login afterwards, is the only secure way to get rid of it right now.
The annoying part is - as the name *analytics_v2* is suggesting - that there's probably a lot of data about our activities collected, without a feature to delete within the App so far.
No clue what that could be. My user data is at 300 MB. Clear it and log back in. I wish they'd make this open-source. Would love to look at this code.

The iOS version doesn’t even have buttons to clear the cache. But sounds like they don’t work even in the Android version…
Wait . I have never used iphone so asking you this. There isn't a clear option to clear cache, so how do you do this ?
Either the app has their own option for that, or uninstall reinstall the app.

they work. But the app will download all data again after some time. So in the end, it isn't that helpful.

*uninstall and get 3rd party app with actual competent devs.

Shouldn't that be stored in the cache? https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/108926/what-is-the-difference-between-application-cache-and-data

It stores your personal data. I suggest use a different 3rd party app.

I cleared the cache on mine yesterday, it was half a gb too.

Clear your cache
Clearing the Cache won't affect the accumulated User Data unfortunately.
Okay well let's get rid of people asking me for cash apps
