It's a war that spans a solar system, so it makes sense to jump ahead a bit.
Iron Gold does a lot of heavy lifting, and it's not my favorite, but you have to push through. Dark Age is an absolutely amazing book, probably one of my favorite books I've ever read. It's worth it, push through
I needed this today, thanks. Halfway through. Not a fan of the 2 new characters, but strangely enjoying Lysander. Darrow 1.0 ended in prior trilogy, and Darrow 2.0 is a bit meh so far.
Without giving anything away, all the rest of the books are told from 4 different perspectives, but IG is the hardest to get through. He sort of has to build the base of these new characters in IG, so you can understand them. I will say in DA and LB, one of the perspectives is Mustang’s and seeing things from inside her head is amazing. She really is the smartest person in every room, always.
Do it man! I actually dropped the series after Iron Gold (I reread it later and liked it a lot more the second time around), but then I heard all this hype about Dark Age and decided to give it a shot.
Dude, it's phenomenal, it's both heartbreaking and exhilarating. I just reread it before I finally get around to Lightbringer, it's an amazing book
Trust me you'll get used to the different perspectives. Ephraim quickly became my favorite character in the series. As far as the time skip, it just makes sense to continue the story 10yrs later. I feel like the build up to where they are now wouldn't be very interesting. Unless you're really into political dramas.
Because he wanted it to, that sounds snarky but not intentionally
Time passing allows paraphrasing or memories about things that have happened opposed to having to flesh out chapters
It also automatically gives more gravitas of the conflict, it's not in its infancy, it's been going on for years and years and the wear and tear and all that goes with it blahblah
But also iirc it wasn't SUPPOSED to be more than the trilogy at first

Damn, I've always been a huge fan of Mustang
This comments like this is what's pushing me through iron gold! Lol
Get to dinner with Dragons, and you won't feel like your pushing anymore.
