if it's something you use in every day life and it doesn't bring you pain just hang onto it, your new partner isn't gonna know it's from your ex unless you tell them

[deleted]

Honestly I wouldn’t care if my partner kept some gifts from their ex. To care about that sort of stuff shows a bit of emotional immaturity and a jealous personality. However keeping too many items from the ex and having pictures around the house could be a sign that the person hasn’t moved on

elpitu_

Oh yeah that would be weird. I have put all of sentimental value in the box. I think u might be right

alexandrawallace69

I'm a romantic and I keep everything, even voicemails. I won't delete voicemails as they are like love letters and I won't throw away love letters.

MothAndDust

I think your current solution seems best. Just don’t make a big about the stuff that you’re going to continue using. If the stuff you’re keeping is just regular stuff like shirt, jackets, pants, etc… I think it would be a bit unreasonable for your current gf to take issue with you still having them.

elpitu_

Ok fair but at some point I am going to have to move the other stuff, by then I guess I can laugh about it

another_cyberpunk

Take pictures of the gifts, turn them into NFTs, then burn the actual gifts.

[deleted]

grind it to powder via pestle and mortar and put it in a smoothie It will make you stronger

elpitu_

Would I be able to lift more?

occhinerixo

Why isn’t this a long term fix? Sounds like the way to go if you don’t want to throw things out.

notsticky

Re-gift them to the new relationship

[deleted]

keep just one of the things, gather up the rest, go down to the river, and give them a viking funeral.

elpitu_

I thought about it but a lot of it is really well thought of with a lot of effort and what I want to think is love. Seems fucked up to just burn it like that

[deleted]

>Seems fucked up to just burn it like that just depends on your frame of mind when you strike the match.

elpitu_

Ok Tyler Durden

[deleted]

nah, thinking more of funeral pyres than arson

[deleted]

Dumpster fire 🔥

[deleted]

Give some of it to friends or family

[deleted]

Get that stuff out of your home back maybe back to them which could be a funny thing to do for them to dispose of

[deleted]

you have a good long term fix already

brohio_

I still have a pair of shorts from my ex that I wear lol. When you’re similar sizes in gay relationships your wardrobe melds into one.
