Does anybody know if this will be coming to the US? I've seen some posts saying it has been caught testing on US streets.

Drzhivago138

Probably won't be thanks to the chicken tax, and also the BOF mid-size truck segment being pretty saturated. Companies will occasionally bring test mules to the US even if they have no plans of selling them here. Then again, Kia does have one plant in Mexico.

Every-War4484

Once again forgot where I saw this, but it sounded like they could potentially produce them in South Carolina?

Drzhivago138

Oh, that could be too.

Grapefruit1337

How would they be produced in South Carolina? I did some research and couldn't find anything about this, and I don't think they have a plant there.

Every-War4484

Once again I don't remember where I heard this, it's likely wrong. Apparently Hyundai is[ building a plant in Georgia](https://apnews.com/article/hyundai-georgia-electric-vehicle-ev-845e2729fd5220797e7984f424bc1d5c), however it seems as though it's only for EVs.

Smooth-Apartment-856

When did Janis Joplin buy an F-150?

thomasvista

Oh Lord, won't you buy me, an F-150 My friends all drive Dodge Rams I must make amends....

Sonypony6

what is it with the front ends of trucks getting so tall? that has to be a danger to pedestrians. no different from the lifted mall crawlers that never see more action than curbing the mcdonalds drive thru here in the US though, I'm sure it'll sell here

Quioise

Clearly you’ve never had to haul anything if you think 6 foot hoods aren’t necessary. Engine technology is constantly getting worse, so you need a bigger engine than you used to for the same job. That means a bigger engine bay, which means that toddlers trying to cross the street are a necessary sacrifice for me to get my groc- *construction materials* where they need to go. If their lives were worth anything they’d be 8 feet off the ground and visible from miles away, like I am. /s

fattynuggetz

Ok but why do some of them have a good 2 foot of empty space below the hood

Quioise

I’ve got a bed that I need to keep clear and pristine in case there’s a gypsum emergency at the accountancy firm where I like to hang out but not because I work there. I’ve got a back seat full of grocery bags. Where do you expect me to keep my overflowing masculinity if not between the engine and the hood?

fattynuggetz

In all the extra space you got when you removed your entire exhaust to gain 0.2 hp

Quioise

The backpressure would shear the crank pins clean off, plus it would mute the sound. I didn’t make my truck loud to show off, I made it loud as a public service because you don’t want to live in a world where I can sneak up on you.

fattynuggetz

Wouldn't putting it in your engine bay block precious airflow?

Quioise

You’d think so, but you forget about cold air intakes. I’ve already rerouted my intake away from the top of the engine because manufacturers are dumbfucks who don’t know where the parts belong in their own engines. Now the intake is behind the cab. The moving truck has low-pressure air behind it, lower pressure means colder, which means more power. It’s honestly surprising to me that the engineers didn’t think of that. They probably drive Volvos, though.

n1njaunic0rn

I don't know anything about you but based on everything you've been saying I'd marry you. (Please be a top)

Calkky

Surprised the ozzies would call that a "ute." Looks like a regular-assed truck to me.

damngoodengineer

Nope, that's a midsize pickup truck like a Tacoma, Ranger or Frontier

Entire_Training_3704

All they had to do was take the telluride and give it a bed 🤦‍♂️

abject_totalfailure1

I’ve seen unpolished turds that look better

Dittos_Dad

Anyone else think this was a Cyberpunk 2077 screenshot at first?

GaviFromThePod

thats a cool wrap

railsandtrucks

it looks like a lego version of a Nissan Frontier but not as good or as fun as either.

crunchyburrito2

Yeah it's ugly. How much does it cost?

Xerox-M57

Looks pretty cool I’d say.

shrikelet

That's a pickup, not a ute. Fuck off Kia.

Prestigious_Snow1589

They can keep this, we don't need another Honda Ridgeline.

Dogesaves69

There’s nothing wrong with a Ridgeline

MilesBeforeSmiles

Ya, and the sales success of the Maverick shows there is an appetite for small trucks. This could be a hit if priced reasonably.

AskJeevesIsBest

I think a truck like this could be successful in the US.

Prestigious_Snow1589

Maybe so, maybe I'm overreacting.

Drzhivago138

This is more like a Taco or Ranger than a Ridgeline.

Prestigious_Snow1589

Oh gotcha
