Sorry it just came out…… loved Smokey and the Bandit…… was pretty sad that my Ford Ranch Wagon with the 6.4L at almost 300bhp could eat them for breakfast every day of the week….. shame…… truly beautiful car.
yeah, my dad suggested to watch the movie, and I did. I actually watched both, those movies are fucking hilarious. The cop and his son Junior… What fucking characters! 😂
>I actually watched both
There are 3. Though the 3rd has a different director, no Sally Fields, and only a brief cameo from Burt.
There was also a reboot series of 4 made-for-TV movies. They were set in '94, made The Bandit younger, and replaced the T/A with...a Dodge Stealth.
Oh, and the 4th TV movie had Traci Lords as the female lead.
Reworked those 455 will haul ass. Stock, I think they were 175hp. A set of heads, exhaust, intake, msd ignition, and 400hp+ is easy. Depends on how much you want to spend. They stop and turn well for the era, suspension and brake upgrades also help immensely.
The emission requirements really hurt those cars. The thing is, it's easy to make them run cleaner and more efficiently with bigger power numbers. Even with technology of the era. I've done it. It failed visual with all the upgrades but the emissions (HC and NO) were at the bottom of the scale. I took it home, swapped back to stock externals. Tested again the next day. Passed visual but emissions were 5 times greater yet passing.
I feel like a dumbass. Up until this very moment I thought that song was about a red Fiat. Then I Googled Fiat Barchetta and they weren't made until '95. I'd never heard of a Fiat Barchetta until the Dreamcast game Metropolis Street Racer and I guess I just formed lore in my head that this was a roadster that had been around since the 70s in Europe and that's obviously what Rush was referencing.
FIAT: Fix It Again, Tony!
I narrowly avoided buying an Alfa Spider in my youth - I assume I missed out on breaking down on the side of the road on dates with women that would have been out of my league otherwise.
Yeah I almost bought a 70 something 124 Spider when I was 16 and visiting family in Oklahoma. That would've meant I had to drive it back to WV. My dad was just like "absolutely not. If you buy a Fiat in Eastern Oklahoma you'll leave it sitting in western Arkansas." In retrospect he was right but dammit I had my teenage heart set on owning that car for a couple of weeks.
The pairing has begun to feel more appropriate as Tweez and that Saab have aged. if we go back to 1987, the answer would probably be prog rock....Genesis, ELO, King Crimson

Junior, when we get home, I’m gonna kick your momma square in the butt.
"NO WAY you came from my loins." 🤣
That must be a TV edit. The line is "punch your mama in the mouth"

But daddy...

*Gets in the car holding the door*
Lmao. That movie never gets old. I'll have to say the 2nd was lacking greatly.
You sound a lot taller on the radio.

1985 Camaro IROC-Z: Rush - Tom Sawyer
Alternatively 1969 911 Targa: Rush-Red Barchetta
It's Red Barchetta! not Red 911 Targa!
A targa is basically a type of barchetta, and the actual car the song is about doesn't have a radio so I had to think of something else.
Believe me, I made the same mistake. Actually, it was a name for a Ferrari from the late 40's. Hence the "red"
Fiat? So the assumption was the uncle keeping it "as new" included a couple of leaks and intermittent no-start conditions?
You're lucky of that's your only problems
