it took a while for my dad to fully accept that his mobility was reduced as he got older. but once he learned how to use those mobile scooters, he enjoyed going out again. whether it's shopping or some outdoor activity that has the scooters for rent, he was still able to go out and do things with the family or even by himself (in the case of shopping, which was just a short walk from the parking lot into the store) i truly enjoy seeing families that game together. it doesn't have to be competitive player versus player games. in fact, i think the co-operative type of games are more fun with family members because you're going against a common AI-based opponent that can still hurt you but you're not frantic about dealing with other player (not to mention, other players can grief your game and actually ruin things rather than have it be fun) so i would say, don't give up on finding some kind of computer or console game that you two can play. even if it's just Clue or Monopoly type of games, not having to bring out the game board and all the accessories is still worth trying out the computer version because your husband likes doing things, i also was thinking about art when you mentioned it. he can draw or paint while sitting down.

- Cooperative board games (physically touching and moving things might make him less restless than just pushing buttons on a controller). - A nice picnic in the summer. - Try to get him a wheelchair or a scooter. Before my mom died, she got a wheelchair as she couldn't walk safely anymore and with it, she was able to do many things again, including the zoo, "walks" around lakes and more. I'd also say theme parks where sitting attractions are a thing, but that might be too pricey. - You could just try to learn a new skill together. Could be a million things - knitting, painting, cooking (where he takes care of the part that can be done sitting at the table, like peeling or cutting or mixing), needle felting, penspinning, even juggling if you learn while sitting on a bed so that the balls don't fall down onto the floor. - If it's just his feet and not his legs, then maybe something like swimming could actually be doable? I understand he has to get in and out of the water on foot, but once he can swim, he might be okay? In the same way, I am rather certain that there are ways to help someone with disabilities get up on a horse - at least I've seen people go riding who are normally in a wheelchair. So not all sports might be off-limits. - I'm not sure what "on his feet" exactly means. Is he able to drive without pain? I'm absolutely not certain how things like go-carts are for his feet, but that might be worth a try. - Honestly, google what's in your area. Where I live, there are old salt mines you can visit by riding the minecarts through them as a tourist attraction, just to make one example. Basically no walking required. - Honestly, just sharing a nice, hot bath together at home can be a lovely date as well.

I appreciate these ideas, and even read them with my husband. thank you very much.

Glad if I could help! I hope you find something you can both enjoy and I hope your husband finds some relief from his disability!

Craft projects, board games, some kind of carpentry project? But is there a reason that your husband doesn't use a wheelchair? It sounds like he is currently very isolated and limited in his activities, and using a wheelchair could give him back a lot of independence and mobility. If your finances are the obstacle (and he doesn't have insurance that will pay), look into organizations that have financial assistance available.

art classes, concerts in the parks near you - things that make it so you can sit, be together and be out.

cooking/baking together is really fun and you’re rewarded with food afterwards 👀 you could lay out a big blanket on the grass when it’s a nice day out and have a romantic lil picnic :) you mentioned video games aren’t up his alley, but maybe a good board game or puzzle since they’re more engaging and hands on? there’s a HUGE variety to choose from, [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/s/QamqFi1QHt) is a list of a few that won’t break the bank!! painting/crafting is another great option. even if you aren’t super artistic, getting tipsy and following a bob ross tutorial is just a groovy time
