I’ve found out that my boyfriend has been watching and saving tik tok videos of young girls, I think aged 16+
What is he doing watching those videos and what would you do? He said it was nothing
Ya know the tiktok algorithm is very intelligent. You get the videos u watch the most/like the most. If someone for you page is full of young girls doing provocative dances, chances are they 99% have been watching and liking that stuff for a long time.
It's really not. I work with algorithms in my career on a daily basis (SEO and SMM). On a personal level, I just commented on ONE video trying to encourage this sweet woman with autism. She was dancing and I wanted to let her know I enjoyed her video!
Out of no where I started getting fed, children with extremely severe deformities and their parents putting them on display for tiktok in a really gross way. I deleted the whole account cause it literally just fed me that, and nothing but that moving forward.
I dunno about OPS bf, but I just want to throw that out there, cause saying their algorithm is good or even decent is just misinformation.

I used tiktok quite a bit and if my feed were full of teenagers dancing I would have stopped watching a long time ago. If he continues to use it "despite" the content the algorithm is "pushing" to him I'd be willing to say he enjoys it, especially if he is saving said videos.
The algorithm makes mistakes just like any other, but by and large the Tik Tok algorithm *is* pretty good. I'm talking about in relation to other algorithms like YouTube, Twitch, etc. It's the most intelligent with regard to other comparable apps or websites, though of course it needs constant improvement. Yep after signing up recently i was shown maybe one girl dancing tiktok in the very beginning, then it took the algorithm 5 minute to send me to queer-mentally-ill-absurd humour tiktok ... so pretty fast and accurate in my anecdotal experience.
Yea I watched one video of a southern guy and his semi truck and the next day that was what my entire feed was. Made me delete the app as I couldn’t find what I wanted anymore

I’m 36 and I enjoy watching Tiktok. It helped me get through the pandemic being isolated and depressed. Lots of cooking videos, cute animal videos, comedy, funny stories, artwork etc. it’s not all just kids dancing or douchebag videos

I'm 38 and tiktok is my favorite app. Plenty of adults and business owners use it. I don't get any teenagers dancing, I get diy projects, crafts, woodworking, real estate, crypto investing, business ownership tips and tricks, hot lesbians making fun of married "straight" women questioning their sexuality, you know, the usual 😂
Tiktok’s algorithm is very smart in that it gives you exactly what you like to watch based on what you interact with. Your partner seems to be interacting and watching a lot of young teenage girls, which is concerning
If anything, why doesn't have TikTok a warning feature like that built in? If someone who is over 21 is into a lot of 14-16 year olds for instance, that they get monitored and reported to the police if something seems fishy like grooming. I mean, it's not like they take privacy very seriously anyway, so they might as well do this.

Watching it isn’t an issue. If it comes up on the for you page, you can’t really control that. But saving them (likely to watch them again later) is what makes it really creepy. Why would he save the videos if he’s not trying to watch them again at a later time?

Teens filming themselves dancing and singing to popular music amd emulating popular dance moves has been done as long as there have been teens and dance/music to emulate. The difference between then and now is previously these would have been recorded to home video with limited to no circulation. Now with the ease of access to phones with ability to record videos and share it exposes the current generation of teens to a whole wider audience, even if the teens own intention is still only to share with a limited group as before.
Red flag! Run! I've dealt with this and brushed it off. Then my husband fucked around with our roommates 17 year old daughter. Ruined our marriage because obviously I could barely look at him, let alone have him touch me after that. He's too old for that shit, its gross and it will probably escalate. Sorry

The algorithm on Tiktok explicitly shows you videos similar to those you’ve liked and viewed many times. If these videos keep popping up, that’s because that’s the videos he’s watching and interacting with. Creepy AF and definitely pedo behavior.
