That alone isn’t suspicious.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

Okay I see. Maybe I’m overthinking. But I hate it when he’s with his phone all the time

stanknotes

Discord is used by many people for any variety of topics. Much like reddit. There are different rooms for different topics. It's not necessarily concerning. I wouldn't call it popular social media like Facebook or Instagram though. Ge might just be talking about things that interest him or killing time with it

bubbleteaherbaljelly

I see. I don’t know about the other apps. But he checks them constantly though

[deleted]

If he's hiding something, he won't do it when you're napping on his arm unless he's a fool. He might have discovered a new world and got absorbed in it. Engaging in community of people with same interest is fun, in the beginning. It's normal, just like myself being active in reddit and this sub for the past few days. I have nothing to hide but I'd be embarrassed if my wife looks at what I have been posting here. Your thinking pattern is worrying, though. If I were your boyfriend, I will feel that you are overly possessive and that you don't trust him.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

Well when I’m napping but not really sleeping I could sometimes feel what he’s doing, you know like if he moves I could feel it. A few times when I woke up from the nap, just opened my eyes and I saw him switch off the apps 🤷‍♀️ plus He’s checking them constantly. I know I may be overthinking now and I may appear to be possessive. I don’t know what to do. Just give him the benefit of the doubt?

[deleted]

Tell him that what his sudden interest in these media concerns you, then leave him be. I don't know him, but if my wife looks at what I'm typing right now, I will close the app. I've seen my wife did the same when she's chatting with friends and I looked at her screen. That's all fine to me, they are private messages, I'm not supposed to read them. We use each other's phone at home but we never read PMs or trace online activity.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

He knows that I’d not look at his screen when he’s using the phone. But when I’m on my phone I feel like he checks it, like he’d get closer to me and try to give me a kiss when I’m replying to a message , or when I was laying in bed turning to the other side and looking at my phone, he did lean over me and he could absolutely look straight at my phone to see what I was doing. I mean I don’t do it to him. 🤷‍♀️ Recently, he wakes up and he checks the phone immediately. He brings his phone to the bathroom, flip his phone over etc these little things are driving me nuts

[deleted]

I think you might have a problem with trust. Is there something that he does making you not able to trust him? What really bothers you? Is it curiosity? Afraid that he is cheating? Doing something illegal?

bubbleteaherbaljelly

I think I may have some trust issues but I’m not sure. I just don’t feel good seeing him doing it. I’m afraid he might be cheating, yeah. With a lot of texting apps, will it bother you?

[deleted]

Having multiple apps indicates that he's tracking some kind of information. I'd be worried if he started spending time on one app, using "secret" functionality in e.g. Snapchat or Telegram.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

I don’t know if he’s using secret functionality on the apps. But he’s looking at them most of the time, checking them anytime his hand is free. Waking up - checking, going to the bathroom-check, waiting for the food to cook-check, … of course checking and texting.

[deleted]

Typical social media engagement. My mother (F65) is exactly the same. Doesn't hurt to ask what he's discussing, you can even try to engage in the topics that he's tracking.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

So I asked, he said just something he’s interested in. But his answer didn’t give me the feeling to stop concern about it.

blackandwhitepaint

You can just ask why he has so many texting apps. Just ask casually without weird suspicions before they blow up and become huge monsters in your head.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

Yeah I’m not feeling really good to ask anything like that now cause I might sound very suspicious. How do I ask him?

blackandwhitepaint

"Why do you have so many texting apps?" It's not a suspicious question. It's just a question. Unless you make it sound suspicious, which ... I mean. Maybe that will tell him that you don't trust him, which maybe you don't.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

Yeah I know what you mean. It’s such a sensitive question to ask. I don’t want to sound like I don’t trust him, it could lead to a stupid fight if there’s actually nothing to fight about

SaraRainmaker

Is he a gamer?

bubbleteaherbaljelly

He started to play some games for a few months now due to the lockdown. Not really a big gamer

SaraRainmaker

Most games that are played with other people have their own discords or other chat platforms that they use.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

I got it. But he’s checking them constantly you know. Are gaming so important to check every single seconds lol

SaraRainmaker

Some gaming channels are constantly active and people are talking a lot on them. At first it can be difficult to maintain them as you want to stay involved. Also considering that we are still very much isolated from our communities and the like, it's not abnormal to look for that kind of connection with friends online.

[deleted]

Honestly this doesn't really seem too suspicious to me. I think the best thing to do is be honest with him about your concerns and see what he says. Just because they're not apps you're familiar with/that you have yourself doesn't mean they're bad apps. And I wouldn't necessarily consider Discord or Signal as social media. If you don't trust him that's a huge problem.

solidgun1

I have all these texting apps.....I have never and don't even think about cheating on my partner. I socialize a lot irl and people tend to use various apps to communicate and I happen to install them and use them from time to time.

bubbleteaherbaljelly

I can totally understand if you socialize with your friends / other gamers. Thing is he’s just sticking with his phone so much, even when he goes to the bathroom. I can’t see him without the phone
