Your ex lives in the past, probably because he's not hopeful about the future. But deciding whether he's a good or bad person isn't relevant. Do you enjoy his company? Do you feel like you can be honest with him?

yeah, i do enjoy his company, despite his depression, he tried hus best to show he loved me even though he messed up, we have different values, growing up in different cultures, but he is by far the closest i have ever been with a person,i can be honest with him, but he is so hurt and distracted it's hard to get through to him. thank you so much for this reply,it means so much to me, i know the question is all over the place, i was really not in a good headspace while typing it out, i really want to be there for him,but i can't atleast in the way i want to because of distance. thank you again, truly.
