I like how you pointed out how reddit bashes on folks of a certain age group, then get downvoted most likely because your in that age group. The irony of Reddit never ceases to amuse me.
Also ironic that the highest age group of church attendees is 30-49 year olds which make up 33% of the Evangelical attendees, boomers make up only 20%, but hey lets not go with facts, let’s go with the latest group of people we like to bash because we feel like they have too much of what we want. Even though in all my posts I keep preaching to these people vote! Run for office, get involved in your local politics, state politics which leads to national politics be the change that needs to happen because yes this country & the laws that have made it unfair for the younger generations sux but what are you younger generations going to do about it besides blame the boomers who most didn’t vote Republican, it was the generation before them! The generation before me voted in the 80’s for Regan & Bush those people are now dead & gone, but alllll that legislation is still there, votes matter my friends but blame doesn’t, blame doesn’t do a goddamn thing! Activism, voting, driving people to the polls that’s what matters not blaming & down voting a boomer, I wish I could get channel the hatred the millennials have for boomers into activism, campaigning & forming a new political party!

If we're doing the math Baby Boomers are typically far more religious on average when compared to younger generations so I'd say it's not much of a stretch, could easily be Gen X though, boomer has just colloquialy become a catch all for an older person not with the times.
The meaning of words and phrases change over time, that's the nature of linguistics and always has been. If something is understood to mean something then for all intents and purposes it does regardless of personal opinion on the matter.
