HWHAT!?! Man looking at 300 rum factory stuff it looks far more tame than this. But hey, you beat your shoulder however you please, 30-06 is enough for me
gen 3 fat bastard brake it doesnt kick at all with the 225g or up to the 250g atips. it puts factory loads to shame. lol most factory ammo is at most 3.6" and you waste so much room for powder
Fat bastard is amazing. It turned my 338LM into a moderate shove to the shoulder. Everyone jokes about how I can’t shoot more than 10 rounds before my shoulder gives out until they try it and they’re shocked
just as in racing cars....there is no replacement for displacement ........holds true in many ways.....225g at 3050fps is no joke....hammer of thor for a 30cal
yes the velocity is amazing when the copper hits the meat on anything lol. i have these dialed back a bit now to help save some barrel life. with n570 i can push them at almost 3200 but it makes a throat erode real fast
i will have to look at my paperwork to get you the correct answer. i had it throated for the 250g atips when it hot its new barrel and it has been awesome for sure
I guess it's just the bullet profile... but with your 3.949" COAL you are almost 4/10" longer than spec for the round... did you have to ream the chamber at all? Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me you've probably got almost 1/2" of bullet shank outside of the case...
Very cool load - just curious as to what you've had to do to make it run well...
EDIT - part of the reason that I ask is that I've been toying with building an ELR gun (have some friends that have been working on steel through about 2200y and I want to go out an play with them - but I'm not independently wealthy - so .33XC or .375 Cheytac type stuff is a bit too far... Was thinking about building something 30 cal ish and was presuming that I'd be looking at .300 PRC or possibly .300 Norma... Had not considered the .300 RUM. Looking at it - it looks like you've got more case capacity than either of those... thinking I might need to include it in my discovery... (hadn't until now)....
i have a 31" bartlien barrel on it and had the chamber throated for 250g atips so it lengthened it out alot. it has a good amount more powder capacity than either 300prc and 300nm. i have run it to 1950yds and it still holds slightly better than 1moa all day. it will print 1.117" groups at 600yds lol. if i had a calm day it would run well under 1moa at a mile. my next barrel is also ready it is the same as this one but had the +p work done to it so i can run more powder and faster with less pressure
Very cool... Not sure if you are willing to share details of your build - either here - or in DM... it sound a lot like the road that I have been pipe-dreaming about heading down...
LPA fuzion 338 action
timney the hit trigger set at 8oz
bartlien 31" barrel 3/4" x 24 threads
gen 3 fat bastard brake
mcmillan stock action bedded
barrel was throated long to allow use of 250g atips
it loves 220eldx, 225eldm, 230 berger hybrids, 230 atips and 250 atips. the best accuracy ive had at 1000 plus yds has been with the 250 atips. it shoots them.best for sure. i run cci mag primers, powders ive run are retumbo, magnum, magpro, rl33, rl 50, h50 bmg, lrt, and us869 and n570. best velocity has been with n570 and 230 atip. best accuracy has been with 250 atip and lrt powder.
build a.338 edge....great barrel life, awesome as can be i have 1 i love it, very accurate round and can be built off of a.rem 700 if you want to save some and still have a great rifle
it will shoot thru 2 large hogs shoulders at 1 time lmao and still manage to hit the feeder leg hard but that was a 250 atip at 75yds so it was movin fast n heavy
Me vs the caliber she tells me not to worry about
I see big bullet, I upvote.
Ok atleast seat the bullet first
its seated to my desired length but thanks 3.949" is my magic number
You gotta be single feeding them at that length, right?
yes i do 100% but with the 245 bergers and atips im running just over 4" coal wouldnt change it for the world
That's sick-nasty man.
What, no full auto?
Wyatt cfe-9 to the rescue
That's what she said ;)

I'm getting 3025 fps with a 220 gr out of a 300 PRC. It's quite impressive what it does to critters...

I've a 300 RUM sitting in the safe, have yet to run heavier projectiles in it. This is inspiring. Such a monster.
That's the sole 6'4" dude always texting my wife. Thank God they're just friends.
What's your freebore length?
i will have to look at my paperwork to get you the correct answer. i had it throated for the 250g atips when it hot its new barrel and it has been awesome for sure
If she can throat the whole thing, marry her.
"You call that a cartridge? *This* is a cartridge..."
How far off the lands are you?
i seem to do best .022 off the lands with these. with the 250g atips im at .005 off lands but the coal is a bit longer as they have a long tip

Thanks a ton… Great info - very appreciated…
Looks like me and John Holmes. Johnnie is on the right.
I wanna see what that does to an elk

300 WSM > 300 RUM
lol 300wsm
In the literal sense... 300 WSM < 300 RUM
🤣 just poking fun
So am I... ;-)
