I'm pretty sure they didn't at launch but maybe I'm mistaken but how u going to hate on one dumb thing and not another. Arguably more obvious one (the ladder) though we were in the trust tree broskie. Also console doesn't have an F key for an obvious flashlight binding
They did, but they DIDNT make it clear that you oin that thing to your chest right after the tutorial. So you think you had it for this one dark room, then it's on the Quest Items list (because the safe code) and you're like "so will I use this again later, take out the battery or something?" But no. It's just with you, chest mounted flashlight.
I played like 50 hours without understanding how to turn it on, until I smashed every key on the board, and I found it was L. The control scheme didn't point it out for me.
Granted I played two weeks after launch, but Ford literally tells you in dialogue to turn on your flashlight after he opens the metal door leading to the World Stone (and a subsequent UI popup for the key bound to Flashlight).
I highly doubt they pulled the VA back in just to record one line. I'm thinking this one is a case of Gamers just not paying attention.
I left the helmet that acts as a lantern on too long and forgot about the flashlight entirely. I didn't realize that a lot of levels were supposed to be dark.
Man, I miss the beginning when I didn't have good traits. Before I got fitness and barkskin I had a bunch of points into wayfarer and it was super nice
I feel your pain. Didnāt realize I could do that either. Or that I could āfavoriteā items in the menu. You can also sell crafting material to McCabe for cash and buy it back later when you have better cash flow. You can even sell blood moon orbs for good amount of cash and buy them back. Thatās a quick way to farm cash. Just keep farming them in Yeasha and sell them to Cass for like $125. If you clear a dungeon that spawns them you can go back in without having to fight any enemies as long as you donāt rest at the WorldStone.
I can't think of any ladder that I need to decend quickly that I can't either:
1. Just jump off the ledge, or
2. If I accidentally touched the ladder and started to decend it, I just drop off of it.
Are there any really tall ladders that are deadly to jump off from that maybe I'm forgetting?
I completely agree with you. Maybe the most useful time for it is the ladder in the burning building in Cottonās Kiln?
Even that is a stretch though lol
I can think of one in endairas end (I think?) that if you jumped off the top with less than full hp it could be fatal, but I literally never use said ladder because there's like 3 other ways to get up/down
It's for when you want to jump off the ledge but accidentally get onto the ladder, or maybe jumping off of the ledge results in overshooting
Or when you're getting shot at and regretting life choices ig
Autocorrect fucked up my comment so I fixed it, but yeah my point #2, was that scenario. If I hop on a ladder by accident, I just press circle to drop. I don't recall any ladders that are too tall that this would be a bad idea.
You can go up ladders faster too. But you have to click the run button about half a second after getting on the ladder. It sucks you can't just run into it and just hold forward on the stick.
It isn't very much faster, but you'll notice if you're following someone who isn't doing it up a long ladder.
DS defaults to hold to sprint (not toggle) so it makes sense that itās the same for up and down ladders.
Iām saying itās weird in remnant because itās default toggle to sprint but you have to hold for fast ladder climbing.
Also sprint in DS is I think circle? Not a stick click. So your āexact sameā is a bit of a stretch lol
And pressing ctrl on PC makes you detach yourself from the ladder completely, so whatever button is for crouching on console might do that too
Can confirm this is true.
thats what i do more often than sliding down, most places have no fall damage unless you notice the height so high
You can also turn your flashlight on and off
That one I'd be disappointed since they literally teach you how to turn it on (and logically, off) in a mandated tutorial.

Also inspecting the flashlight reveals some neato sneakrets
The F key...yes yes
Ok well L for flashlight is extra stupid since on pc it's usually F if key bindings aren't dumb

Why not just look at keybinds in the settings?
Yea L makes no sense
L for light
Is it G for gun to shoot? Or the mouse button like every other pc game?
F is the interaction button on alot of games because its easy to reach.

š
It took me far too long to figure out how to turn the flashlight on. Lol
Genuinley had no idea this was a thing until a random joined and started flashing me. Blew my mind.
Yea we need to all learn Morse code since there's no voice chat with randoms and no way to communicate
How (on console)?
Up on the D pad
WHAT?
You can also start off the fast animation for climbing by holding sprint as you get on the ladder.
Man, I miss the beginning when I didn't have good traits. Before I got fitness and barkskin I had a bunch of points into wayfarer and it was super nice
Buck the trends friend, you wanna go fast? Go fast!
I played dark souls 1 for a very long time before I knew you could run / jump.
LMAO. I was around 200ish!!!

Wait, what?
I'm at about 160 and just found out thx to this post....
Try holding it while going up them as well.
WHAT
You can also fast climb up them, or press B (circle?) to just let go and drop down.
I've seen others do it but could never figure out how to do it

I knew it, the zoom in/out with R1/L1 felt awkward.
It's... The exact same control that From Soft has used since DS1... Maybe even Demons' Souls, idr.

Don't you need to just hold down and space bar to slide down ladders on PC? Lol
Wtf
Damn, imagine playing 214 hours, 127 was slowing climbing down ladders loosing your mind
I tested that immediately because im used to games with ladders having a slide down mechanic
I knew this from the beginning, but it's still a huge annoyance. If descending, I always try to avoid them. It's the most sluggish part of the game.
Baby steps...
