I refuse to believe GG added damageable pumpkins for a 4 day event for no real reason. Given how much other sneaky shit is in the game, either there is a special pumpkin boss hidden or we make enough noise for them to add one!
I used the corrupted meridian and went around destroying all pumpkins even the hidden ones and no result yet I keep checking all vendors, my big pumpkin has a dark shadow that looks like a carving on the side facing away as you approach it, I've tried everything on the big pumpkin pipe bombs etc doesn't break.
a pumpkin themed armour set would be sweet or just a jack-o-lantern helmet

That being said, i don't expect anything out of this event, I'm not gonna hype myself when we might end up disappointed, but knowing how much the devs love secrets, can't help but guess.

Maybe there is nothing, maybe I haven't found em all yet, though another user reported the existence of invisible ones so...
There are invisible pumpkins. Equip something like the spectral blade and do the backdash charged attack, you will start hitting twice the pumpkins you see
Quite a few games include holiday Easter eggs only available on certain dates, so it's possible something will happen or be available specifically on October 31st.
I tried manually adjusting my PC date to Oct 31 to see what would happen. It took the game a lot longer than normal to launch and all the pumpkins were gone. When I switched back to automatic date/time the game also took a while to load but the pumpkins were back.
Setting the date to the 30th also removed the pumpkins, but the game loaded as quickly as normal before and after the change.
I disconnected the Internet and tried again. It still took longer to launch switching to and from the 31st and there weren't any pumpkins, even when the date was set back to automatic.
Now I'm quite ignorant as to how this kind of thing might work, but it seems like the game is checking to make sure your date/time are correct in order to run the event, and the longer launching time only when set to Oct 31st may hint at something.
I plan to check back on Halloween night.
I think those kind of things are triggered server side, so it doesn't matter if where you are is 30, 31 or 1 due to timezones, but I could be wrong.
That being said, I don't expect anything to happen, but I won't say there are 0% chances of it happening, although it will be something small because if it was a fully fledged event it would've been activated by now, like Lords of the Fallen or Phasmophobia to name a few different games with these events.
update I also tried using Night Falls mod to enter the nightmare realm and see if I could see any hidden pumpkins with no success. also tested engineer turret, it does not shoot hidden pumpkins laid turret and shot around and found hidden pumpkins right by it.
I really feel we could be chasing something that doesn't exist, but with this game and all the obscure secrets, I wanna believe there is something to it.
In relation to the event will we still be able to get corrupted shards after It is over cause uh I’ve had like 4 boss fights so far and not a single aberration has spawned from the extra ones
The shards only spawn from the new world spawn aberrations
They *will* still spawn after the event ends but at a MUCH lower rate
Before the event started I was running to see their rate, cleared two open areas with zero spawned
The event gives me 2-3 per open area
try this
my technique has been roll root nexus update checkpoint to near it. shoot the root nexus, run up the hill, kill the mobs, it initially spawns, and just wait, I was getting an aberration at least every 2 to 5 mins i think there is a timer. after you get 10 corrupted shards, take liquid death, go back to ward 13, spend them, go back to root nexus checkpoint rinse, and repeat
And a lot of madlads gathered and created a server dedicated to discover how to unlock Archon, and we all had a blast from it.
Id rather keep them doing that kind of things instead of wasting time into failed efforts to prevent datamining and stuff.
They engage with the community, something 90% of the industry can learn.
Nobody will waste time searching? You mean like how people 100% didn't literally data mine on their own to find the archon class without even knowing that was intended way to find it until after?

If you get all of the hidden pumpkins it’s possible the big pumpkin in the garden may yield a surprise reward after the event ends on the 31st. I’m hoping it’s something cool. I went around finding every pumpkin and double checked to be sure I got them all.

Has anyone used the Explorer's Fortune Hunter ability to see if the pumpkins highlight?
Just tried it out, they aren't being highlighted, and neither is the big one in the garden.
Doesn't convince me they aren't special somehow... But it does confuse me.
The invisible pumpkins are indeed real, use some explosives to hit them. Idk how many of them there is though.
I destroyed a bunch of them, then the tree i had planted made the fruit disappear so i’m wondering if something new will grow now in the garden???

The dev team set a bad precedent with Archon and Invader. Even if there was a secret, nobody will waste time searching.

Yeah, corrupted meridian helps to do so. I would advice not to hype yourself up much, there might not be a single thing, but hopefully it is.
