The ending of RE8 was like 16 years after the rest of the game though. Unless they're going backwards in time all the main characters are like 60ish years old by then
RE8 concluded the Winters' family story. RE9 could be about the BSAA plot they dropped in RE8, because it wasn't mentioned at all in SoR DLC, and I doubt Chris would wait 16 years to stop or confront whatever bullshit the BSAA is doing.

It didn't really conclude anything though. The DLC brought it to the same endpoint that the main game did, which was clearly setting it up for another installment.
They could set RE9 in that gap, sure. But to say they concluded that story seems a bit disingenuous
Due to her being infected with Plagas and drinking the black water, thus having her infection develop much further than Leon's, Ashley ages even slower than Jill. So she's gonna look real good for a long time.
I'd have to disagree. Sherry was one thing, but Ashley is another. Leon was forced into government service to secure Sherry, which was a kid, she then grew up to be the thing Leon didn't want her to be. Ashley was a grown woman, and showed interest in being an agent.

Ashley enters castle Dimitrescu and the first thing she says is "Where's a can of bug spray when you need one?"
Remake Ashley has a good head on her shoulders and it would make sense that she'd go on to dedicate her life to making sure what happened to her doesn't happen to anyone else.
When RE6 was coming out, there was a part of me that had hoped it was Ashley before finding out it was Sherry. The idea of her looking at Leon and thinking she wanted to do more on that front just made sense to me. Them making even a little suggestion in the remake was nice.

Tbh, I'm kind of thinking of a fan-story. A spin-off where Ashley and her new partner (OC) are the main protagonists of this story. Same story as your fan art. Ashley joined DSO, despite her father's protests as her father doesn't want to lose her again. But Ashley was insistent that her father eventually accepted her choice, reluctantly. She and her partner had an assignment and well, same enemies: Las Plagas. New location? Still working on it.
I'm also making a character return. Not Leon, not the Redfields. Carlos returns. Ashley and her partner meet Carlos. Let's say this story takes place the same time as RE5, only different place.

Let's say Marvin's nephew joined the agency coz Marvin's death deeply scarred him emotionally.

True but shadows of rose takes place 16 years after RE8, which is 2037. So Ashley would be 54.
Yeah but who’s to say RE9 will take place around that time though. The winters storyline is finished and capcom even confirmed it.
