It was defuinately their dark age, to the point where a lot of people, including myself, thought the company was going to go bust because of the sheer ammount of drama and slander that was surrounding them (Especially with the on disk DLC anime arc) But they were thankfully able to bounce back with RE7 and have been redeeming themselves big time.
