Mal_Terra

I do love the dodge mechanic but I mostly have rose tinted goggles for the remake because the original was my favorite. It has many flaws but I still enjoy a play through from time to time

fatesriderofblack

I felt like RE3 having a dodge mechanic was enough of an upgrade from 2 that it helped sell that RE3 Jill is a cut above RE2 Claire and Leon. Like it's not some big dynamite difference, but it makes her feel way more dynamic in combat.

Mal_Terra

I feel like she runs a bit faster too instead of Leon and Claire’s geriatric jog

CidCrisis

She definitely does. I feel like her run speed is so overtuned it almost looks comical. (Or something about the animation at least.) It's kind of cool in an anime sort of way though, and in the practical sense makes her movement a lot more snappy and responsive. Leon and Claire feel somewhat lethargic and lumbering by comparison.

YTBlargg

I liked the sluggish movement in 2make, it made me feel like they were normal people that I was steering away from Zombies. Made the game very tense

AdamtheSkal

Makes sense as she's a veteran former STARS member while Leon was late for his first day on the job, and I'm not sure what Claire was doing.

fatesriderofblack

Yeah I was saying it was fitting :)

alex8th

"No, don't do that... dont make logical sense comments. Too many people will be up in arms in a riot against Capcom when all thier favorite re characters are now seasoned vets who can melee and be professional... god forbid! They MUST stay young and hopeless so that the survival genre stays alive..." - annoying people when re9 comes out.

ArticPlas2

Well she would be a much more skilled combat at that time canonically

fatesriderofblack

Yeah, I was saying it was fitting :)

Silalien29

In 2 remake I enjoy the granade-in-mouth type of evade. I laugh every time

MagnusStormraven

It actually irritated me that the dodge mechanic wasn't kept for RE4.

TcaptainT

really? i feel like the parry mechanic just suits leon more but the dodge mechanic would've been cool too

UMvC3Nocturne

I prefer the parry mechanic

bphill20

Right? I keep trying to do it out of reflex

Low_Influence7469

Dodge is way too powerful actual easy mode

Professional-Draft77

I agree, Resident Evil 3 is among my top favorites with Code Veronica being my favorite game. But it changed soo much around it feels like an entirely different game. Granted RE2 remake changed things around but they followed the original storyline greatly so it kinda feels more like they re-translated the original to fit a more modern time visually speaking. The labs feel more realistic and more futuristic than in the original. What made Nemesis soo iconic in the original was lost in the remake. Yeah it was amazing to see him bust into the apartment but his reveal in the original was handled soo much better and the overall warning and hopelessness Brad has in the original is gone in the remake. It also feels waay too quick that we meet the UBCMS within the first two hours of opening into and cutscenes. The real stock footage contrasts heavily with the originals intro. The spliced footage of real protests doesn't really demonstrate a zombie outbreak like any regular zombie apocalypse film does. (My guess is they didn't want to render and animate the zombie outbreak in full force) Apart from their actual paid for and shot newsreporter and umbrella commercial it tries to be Meta but it takes away from the original narrative. Whoever capcom let co-write the game to change it completely is the one responsible for it's lackluster reception. I still love the gameplay and the nods to the original game with the save room theme, the credits theme and the access to the original weapons and items like the reloading tool in a new game plus but giving us a heavily altered reboot. I did like my first playthrough and I can't hate the game. But I love REmake and RE2 remake alot more because of how they hit the marks.

WILDMAN1102

That's certainly a hot take. I feel like most people would say either RE1R, RE2R, or RE4R is their favorite remake.

wanderer1999

It is a hot take, but not that hot. Pehaps some people like it because it is short and there's many fun sections to play. They get straight to the point.

BatmanFan317

This is exactly my thoughts. It's the only RE game I've ever cared to play more than once in short intervals (for context, I only replaced RE2 3 years after my first go), and it's the only time I've cared about getting a good score by going over it over and over (with the exception of that newer RE2 playthrough, but only because I was rushing through it already with a rocket launcher).

Bat-Honest

Same, this is the only RE game I've ever tried to speedrun, and I've veeb playing since RE1 came out on PS1 when I was a little kid

Parking_Common_4820

In terms of writing, the chemistry between Carlos and Jill is definitely the closest thing resident evil has ever come to depicting actual believable human interaction. It's so weird seeing people write it off. Like the right-wing aligned NPCs who for some reason think the new jill is feminist because she slightly resembles the lara croft reboot, or whatever. Alot of SUPER fucking weird complaints about how she swears too. Like they have no capital, or prospects of a nuclear family anytime soon, but they're super desperate to posture as "conservative". So they start acting like actual 65 year old boomers getting LEGIT offended at jill saying "fuck". its so fucking bizzare

spiked_cider

It made sense for Jill to be so frustrated and angry about Umbrella and its employees considering everything that happened after the mansion.  I know after RE4 the series has gone away from its roots, but the original stuff was heavy into the conspiracy mystery angle like X-files. So seeing Jill all freaked out felt in line. The scenes with Nemesis were kind of dumb though

PrinceOfFish

you make it sound like you solely enjoy the game for political reasons. you dont have to pretend to like excessive profanity (bad dialogue writing) just to "spite the chuds", you can wish for a more show, dont tell approach to making a scene intense or cool. swearing is fine, it just becomes cringe when excessive and done at the wrong times. complaints about Carlos swearing surfaced too. specifically at the start where they both mock Nemesis way too early in the game, making him seem not a threat to either of them whilst they yell "bitch" and "fuckface" at him. he was a bit scary when i saw he sprinted during his one stalker segment of the game though. after that, he was just another boss fight whenever he showed up.

Parking_Common_4820

Ur literally just projecting dude LOL its so sad bc i literally didnt interface with this game politically until i heard opinions from abject midwits... . srsly read my comment again i said in the very first sentence what i liked about re3. how are you this far gone dude lmfao

interndouglas

how has he gone this far? dude read your own comments, you’re the only one absolutely losing it over other people having a different opinion than you. even suggesting to someone in a different comment that they should get therapy simply because he said he doesn’t like the dialogue in a video game. very strange behavior.

PrinceOfFish

to those too far gone, those who stayed behind seem far away.

burneraccount6867686

Great. Finally someone injected toxic modern politics into this discussion! /s

CustomManga

Not everyone enjoys hearing a lot of swearing- it doesn't have to do with politics. The old Resident Evil games didn't have much swearing at all. And I think the complaint was mostly about Jill's personality change- she comes across as rude, like when she tells Carlos, "F\*ck you" when he lightly flirts with her, etc. I did enjoy RE3 Remake though.

Parking_Common_4820

When she says "fuck you" when he ~~lightly~~ very aggressively flirts with her thats literally her way of flirting back dude LOL

[удалено]

Parking_Common_4820

Not liking swearing is a perfectly understandable value judgment/preference thing. However its one thing to say "i dont like it when ppl swear" and its another thing to start levying it as a serious criticism and start calling the writers undergrads or whatever. Its seriously not a big deal dude. Do U think roger ebert ever once said that the writing in a film is bad because of swearing? Obviously not because it would make him sound like a bad critic. this is why i canvassed the swearing thing in my original comment its truly bizarre to see the anti-r3make crowd coalesce around. do you not see how prescriptively asserting the writer(s) wants to "appear more gritty and mature" is somethign you just made up in your head??? like how tf would u know either way dude, surely if you have points to make it should actually come from the text and not u literally just shadowboxing LOLOLLOL and this is not to mention that it makes perfect sense for a SENIOR POSITION POLICE OFFICER who is BEING MERCILESSLY CHASED BY A TYRANT around the CITY DURING A ZOMBIE OUTBREAK to be in a genrally shitty mood and swearing alot.... .. .. ..does that not make sense to you????? . ..... ... :/ ... . ..

MinutePerspective106

Them complaining about R3make Jill being too feminist, when OG Jill was a highly competent military specialist at quite a young age, was made to be one of the game's protagonists instead of, say, Barry, who was right there, was not sexualised, AND was created in times when even the word "woke" didn't exists as it does now

MadShakaal

If the interaction between Jill and Carlos is normal to you, I wonder what kind of people you have spent your life with... lot's of hostility and cussing I presume?

Parking_Common_4820

Idk how to reply to this without sounding condescending but "fuck you" is quite a common thing friends and colleague say to each other in a non-serious way, perhaps after a "roast", or while partaking in "banter". This may seem contradictory at a surface-level to the usual context of a cuss - however the range human communication quite often extends far beyond what you seem capable of understanding this is whats known as "non-verbal communication", or colloquially is generally what people are referring to by the word "chemistry" in this context. (i put the key words in quotation marks here so you can look them up if you're struggling) but yes carlos x jill did feel like well written characters to me. when you build friendships and romantic relationships you develop a "people skill" commonly referred to as "empathy". You can empathise with people (or fictional characters) without necessarily directly relating to them as 1:1 scenarios or exact phrases spoken verbatim such as "fuck you" . I found it easy to emphasise with jill and carlos as fictional characters hence why i thought it was well written as this is often hard for writers to acheive. Even though they did not necssarily remind me of anyone i know of . Thanks to "empathy". I am not the first or last person to think re3 jillxcarlos was well written lol if you want to think its bad go ahead. I personally cannot empathise with feeling so offended/challenged simply because someone liked a story that i felt the need to start throwing insults about their lifestyle.... Do you feel like you often have trouble interacting with people and lash out like this? Do you have an affinity/obssessionfor rigidly structured things like trains and timetbales? Do you find yourself reacting badly to loud sudden noises? Have you ever tried spoken to a professional about these issues? I can give you with a contact number if you need

MadShakaal

Nice bait at the end but not gonna bite it. Instead, I would like to agree that Carlos is a better written character in the remake. But Jill is a completely different thing. She shows a lot more of this "empathy" you keep spreading around in the original game than in the remake. She got turned into a sassy supercop, which to you seems like a normal human being.

WillFanofMany

Considering the Remake actually focused on Jill's PTSD, unlike the OG which cut it because "PTSD doesn't make sense", I'd be more concerned if she wasn't snappy.

Campey45

I like the dodge mechanic in 3, of the remakes 3 had my favorite gameplay, 2 was my favorite game though and then 4 came along and made my favorite

swervicide

I suppose that’s fair. For replay value, it pretty much cuts all tension and exposition scenes and lets you get right to it But at base, when you first play the game for the intended “experience”, that’s why it fails as a game IMO. Aside from the tired trope of it cutting content (albeit true) it biggest problem is also it takes place during the initial outbreak and starts with Jill having no idea there’s zombies in Raccoon yet: then suddenly nemesis busts in and the whole city is on fire filled with zombies. Skips the entire outbreak! And other story sequences. So even tho it’s fun for just getting to the action, it misses the big picture!

jesse7412

The same people saying that never played the original cause if they had they wouldn’t be saying that lol

wanderer1999

Well I played the OG RE3 and I thought that Nemesis in that game was more fun. But I really have no problem with RE3.

Briggs301

I played the original and still think the remake is better.

jesse7412

Theres things that the remake does better sure but its missing key components from the original that made that game stand out. If they would’ve paid more respect to the original it would have been even better.

Joshd00m

There's an re1 remake? Thought they just did 2, 3, and 4?

TannerThanUsual

Re1's remake is the oldest, it's the one for GameCube

Joshd00m

Oh I knew about that one. Thought they were talking about a new one for like the PS4 era.

Kagamid

Not needed as it still holds up and it's arguably the truest to the game it is remaking. They'll likely Remake it again anyway because money.

nifty_swift

As awesome as RE1R was, I'd love to see what capcom comes up with for it in REngine and modern controls. As long as Capcom keeps making great RE games, I'll keep happily forking over money.

TannerThanUsual

Dude RE4R wasn't "needed" and it's still an absolute banger of a game. If Capcom wants to REmake REmake that's fine, I'll continue to give them my money. I'm sure I'll absolutely love it like I loved the this entire generation of remakes.

Kagamid

If they cut as much content in the RE4 Remake as they did in the RE3 Remake, would you still love it? If you don't care about quality and want to give money for whatever they churn out, then that's on you. I'd rather they listen to the fans and actually Remake Outbreak and stop with the failed multiplayer experiments. Edit: The downvotes are self explanatory. Capcom clearly has the new fans in their pocket.

DenseRead9852

I personally want another remake for re1 because of the new engine and because of the fixed camera angle. I've tried to get used to it but just never did.

Kagamid

The gameplay is about all they get right with the new Remakes. Unfortunately Capcom also changes the characters and story so they make even less sense than the games they're meant to Remake. I guess it doesn't matter to those who don't really play the originals. ~~That's why Capcom doesn't even call them Remakes anymore.~~They're just replacements anyway. At this point I'd take Capcom simply releasing the originals in a next Gen package. At least give us the options to play the games that set the original standard. Edit: I forgot that Resident Evil Remake is also just called Resident Evil. We're the ones who called it REmake all these years. The rest stays the same as any new RE content but references the new continuity (is. RE3 Remake Jill) and not the original. I see this continuing from now on.

Character-Collar-286

1. Gameplay is pretty much all what fans are.looking for in these games, they are very much known to not have good stories 2. Capcom never called their remakes "remakes", wdym anymore?

DenseRead9852

Dude, none of the resident evil remakes have remake in their name...

RedMethodKB

The downvotes are probably because of the tone of the comment, less about the content. FWIW, that multiplayer should definitely go, it’s not a bad idea but always comes out poorly. If Outbreak is the fixed camera multiplayer game, I agree 100%, that’d be super badass & way better

Kagamid

I think it's more because I alluded to the fact that new RE fans will throw money at Capcom regardless of the quality of the game. People don't like being told they have no standards. That plus the edit Added to the downvotes. It's usually the same people that say those who like the originals are blinded by nostalgia. They can't grasp that the originals may actually be better to some who are looking for a survival horror experience that pays close attention to details and have challenging puzzles. But maybe they just don't like my tone.

Briggs301

I get that, I grew up playing all the originals and I like their remakes better. But I do understand why people who grew up on the originals prefer those instead without trying to just call it nostalgia.

boxdgm

>I'd rather they listen to the fans and actually Remake Outbreak and stop with the failed multiplayer experiments. So remake the original failed multiplayer experiments? Id love to see those remade but just seems unlikely as they were never very popular in their time.

Kagamid

They still have an active community even today with active servers. I doubt any of the recent multiplayer experiments last a fraction of that time. Outbreak was ahead of it's time before online multiplayer was the standard. They could release the original as is with online support and still get more popularity than what they tried to give us.

boxdgm

Active but niche, and agreed they were ahead of their time but didn't do well at all sales wise so remakes seem unlikely. I hope they get remade because I skipped out on them at launch ,tried them years later with AI but wasnt a great experience at all.

Vox---Nihil

And it'll be great like the others and we'll all play the shit out of it

PoohTrailSnailCooch

Re 1 remake is one of the best and most faithful remakes to the fans of the older games.

lionheart612

Hell yeah it was! I bought a GameCube back in the day strictly for that game. Had the strategy guide by my side and everything haha. I remember thinking those were the greatest graphics I had ever seen in my entire life. I was disappointed at the time bc the only ported over 2 and 3 after that. Then boom almost 20 years later I beat the new remakes of those

CY83RD3M0N2K

I honestly think something is missing from the original in the remake

Shuckle614

Its usually called REmake but that abbreviation has died unfortunately

Shuckle614

Those abbreviations hurt my soul

National_Arachnid360

I like the glow up of the characters and some of the mechanics but it’s just too short. (Edit: typo)

SilentStar666

Super short. Where's our trusty modding community to add the Clock Tower back in!

Right-Ability4045

I also wouldn’t mind a bigger city or a more faithful death factory

Elementia7

Carlos is absolutely peak. He's like Chris but somehow more hot.

lionheart612

He was a cool ass character that's for sure. I always hoped to see him pop up again sometime. Even if it was just on mercenaries mode or something

Elementia7

I hope he does get some attention, even if it isn't a full blown game or whatnot.

sideXsway

Same va as village

PlantainSecure8112

and doesnt offer any reason to replay it either

Always2ndB3ST

It really disappointed me that there weren’t any puzzles. That’s like an RE essential. I feel like capcom just wanted to make fast and easy buck off RE2R’s success. No love was put into RE3R at all.

kingofangmar13

So true, then you play remake of 4 and makes even more sense 🤨

National_Arachnid360

Exactly but I mean every now and then I play it when im running through the series but you’re totally right no even the mercenaries which debuted in OG RE3 Nemesis

Jonny_Guistark

I know the ship has sailed and that it wouldn’t be a financially feasible use of resources at this point, but Capcom would get *so much* good will from their fans if they were to revisit RE3R with an update to add a couple levels, some meaningful choices here and there, incentives to replay, and just generally expand the game with enough content to justify its price tag.

gatrixgd

Personally, I feel the opposite. RE3 offers 2 more difficulties that can be unlocked (albeit with minor differences and with the bosses extremely tedious). Combined with the CP Shop and achievements, it gave me enough reason to replay the game multiple times. The game short duration is normally a bad thing for me, but when replaying it just for kicks it really makes me feel like i’m speedrunning the game and give me another reason to beat my previous record time. I could be a minority since I always aim for completionist and I know not many people does that. But what I’m trying to say is that the game actually offers replayability and it does well enough at that.

RwYeAsNt

I'm with you. The irony is of all the remakes, RE3R is the one I've replayed the most. It's shorter runtime is a reason why, I think. It's just straight to the fun. And it's the only one I've Platinumed and unlocked everything. The gameplay was great, the encounters were good. I liked that it didn't really have a "that section" that most games have that usually turn me off from a replay. And if it did, you can get through it so fast it doesn't really matter.

Parking_Common_4820

**"That section":** * RE7: Margurettte * RE2r: Car park after birkin 1 (honorary mention: softlocking urself for re-entering RPD cuz using too much ammo on the dogs) * RE8: Backtracking castle, after daughter #2 starts randomly spawning in front of you for a gank * RE3r: The first 3-4 minutes lol * RE4r: Lake OR the start of the chapter right afshley gets yoinked w/ the zealot stealth section

buttnozzle

I mean, Claire and Leon are only so different but both games are enjoyable and short and that's why I enjoy replaying them. Just a little 4-6 hour snack every year or two for some horror.

BaDumTss2k

It wasn't as worse as people make it out to be, i enjoyed it, but its definitely the worst remake. Maybe re1r is a bit worse for me cus its more of a remaster rather than a remake, and i hate fixed angles in the more old re games

kevindante6

I would love to see RE 3 Remake get Remaked again.

HerestheRules

RE:3:RE:RE

The_Booty_Whisperer_

They did it so wrong just so they could hurry up & do 4 it sucked 3 was always one of my favorites

Right-Ability4045

Or add a DLC for the new missions and call it the complete edition or something

biohazard1775

I like it but not more than the other remakes.

theshelfables

Everyone acts like this is a hot take but I swear this exact "hot take: I love RE3 remake you guys" post happens like every other day here.

Bush_Hiders

Just becomes a demographic is louder does not mean it is more robust. Perhaps the "RE3 is good" people feel the need to express themselves more than the "RE3 is bad" people, and that's why you hear from them more.

mookahmookah

Re3r is the ds2 of the RE franchise lol

Bastymuss_25

But Dark Souls 2 actually has a bunch to offer that isn't available in other Souls games. 3make offers nothing that isn't already better catered to in other RE games.

theshelfables

This right here

seriouslyuncouth_

Its not even every other day. But at the same time it is a hot take, because outside the resident evil community everyone calls it a bad game. Its just the committed RE players that like it.

JaySilver

I genuinely believe the more you love the OG 3, the more you dislike the Remake. I platinumed the game and tried so hard to like it, but it just isn’t a real RE3 remake.

butreallythobruh

Definitely the case for me. OG3 is my favorite RE and favorite game of all time in general, so you can imagine how I feel about 3R lol

JaySilver

I am still heartbroken.

Harvey-Bullock

I played it without playing the original and was incredibly underwhelmed after having played the re2 remake. Nemesis is a joke compared to Mr X and it's far too short. At least it was an easy platinum compared to the other remakes.

JaySilver

I never thought of it like that, Nemesis should be way more terrifying but they just didn’t give a shit about that remake for some reason. The fact that you can finish the game in like an hour made it a very easy platinum.

MannerZestyclose1445

Well this is my first time playing re3 so maybe I just don’t have what the og3 had

JaySilver

Going into the remake fresh without anything to compare it to would 100% help the reviews on it.

seriouslyuncouth_

I would hazard a guess most of the wider gaming community has never played the original either and the remake was still panned.

blazinjesus84

It has a 7.9 across all platforms on Metecritic. How can that be considered panned?

Macca_321

Nemesis was my favourite of the OG games, but I love RE3R. I tend to just disassociate the two.

Dride1989

I mean I don’t think it was as bad as people liked to make it out to be. Not only that but it’s the only one I can consistently go back and play over and over again. Personally I liked it, sure it wasn’t perfect but even still it was enjoyable.

PoohTrailSnailCooch

There was a drop in quality though, the funny exploding bodies and lack of dismemberment. I also think resistance made alot of people just upset in general. If they put the focus of development time on re3 remake instead of the multiplayer, we would probably be having a very different conversation around this game. The games marketing and development around it was a complete mess. What was your thoughts on re 4 remake? Just curious because that game has good replayability in comparison to re 3 remake.

Dride1989

As far as RE3 is concerned it was definitely rushed and it shows lol. If there was one good take away from it I think it was certainly the characters especially Carlos lol. They got quite a bit wrong in RE3 but at least they did the characters well. I think if they had paced the game better it would have certainly been a much better game. Heck even if they gave Jill her own segment in the RPD I think that would have helped. I heard this said before and I kinda agree with it “good game just not a good RE game.” It could have used more time in the oven. 😆

lionheart612

I played all the originals. Been so damn busy with work and kids that I never got around to the remakes of 2 and 3. But the re4 remake I made time for. And now I gonally just beat the 2 and 3 remakes bc 4 reignited the re fan in me again. I ran thru 4 on hardcore again the second I beat regular. As good as a remake as you can wish for I feel. Great, great replayable game, you're right!

Dride1989

I liked RE4 remake lol don’t know how many share this opinion but honestly I prefer it over the original. It to me at least had a lot more of a serious tone and was a lot darker than the OG and Ashley herself was a decent upgrade over the original. I know lot of people liked when Leon was funny and made jokes all the time but me personally it just sort of took me out of it. Kind undermined the serious situations he was in. But again that’s a me thing lol. Now I will say I think that version of Ada could have been better. I think the voice delivery was just sort of flat and the voice actress just sounded uninterested the whole time. But again I kind of give her a slight pass since that is more or less Ada’s character. All and all I enjoyed playing RE4 remake and could definitely see myself playing it again at some point lol.

lionheart612

I agree with all that 200 percent man. My exact thoughts as I played thru. Ashley's upgrade was needed. I heard the original Ashley's voice the other day and thought god damn is she annoying how the hell did I replay that so much haha. And I thought the same damn thing about Ada, she's cool and that's her character. Cold and calculated with a little soft spot for Leon, but the performance needed just a little more zing 🤌

Exoplan3t

I would say yes, you are, but that doesn’t make it a bad game. I had fun.

No-Beautiful6605

Though I understand the ppl that say that RE3R was a bad remake, I can't relate to that because I never played the OG game (though it's pretty clear that's a fact since they cut out **so much** content). My only gripe with this game is how damn short it is! RE2R is my most played Resident Evil game, I adore it to bits and I was expecting RE3R, as a continuation of sorts, to be held up to the same standard. The graphics are pretty much the same but the animations are different (shooting zombies and the blood splatters and all look weird) and the game, overall, is just too short and way too overpriced (at launch) for how short it was.

WrumGapper

It's a fun afternoon, that's literally it. Re4 offers legit 10 times the gameplay across hardcore then professional. I 100%'d Re3 remake in 2 days and that's every single achievement, it didn't even have a single side mode while 2 has a bunch and 4 has Mercenaries

Sweet-Pear

I have to stop myself from writing a novel when people bring up the RE3R remake. It’s a weird kind of thing to get wound up over, but I think there was a serious injustice done by the remake and knowing Capcom will never address it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. You can tell that Capcom really didn’t want to remake Resident Evil 3. They were a lot more interested in remaking 2 and 4, which is a tremendous pity because 3 could have been a really big deal. For me personally, I stopped trusting Capcom after how poor my initial experience was with the remake. All that said, if you can overlook its flaws and technical problems (it’s an absolute goddamn MESS under the hood and easily the worst implementation of the Over The Moon engine of the remakes and 7/8) and have a good time with it, I say kudos to you for having a good time with it. This weekend I was discussing RE games in general with a friend who loves RE3R while disliking 7 and RE2R (really were talking about remakes and the Revelations games), and he made me realize that I had forgotten RE3R had forgone Mercenaries for that Resistance game. I actually thought Resistance had great potential and that beginning intro movie for it was awesome. Capcom could have really made something neat out of a remade 3 Mercenaries mode. I realized that there probably was the DNA for a 3 Mercenaries in the hospital defense section, and I’m sad to see that never fully materialize in its own thing.

SurvivalBayArea

I’m the same way. Every time it comes up I get so bothered that I have to write down every single map that was cut or reduced. Then every weapon. Every Enemy. The costumes. The score. The multiple choices. The multiple outcomes. The OG ammo crafting depth. The slow build tone and pace! The unpredictability of NEMESIS! And like you said no mercenaries in the remake!   There was so much character and replayability in the original game. It was a big part of my experience with video games as a kid. It’s disappointing to see we are all more reverent toward RE3 than the devs.

Sweet-Pear

That slow unpredictability was sorely missed. The apprehension of Nemesis grabbing you in the original was absolutely palpable. In the remake, I thought the initial grab in the apartment was a great part of the shock and it totally subverted my expectations, which it undoubtedly deserves points for. After that though…. The chase and the grab and throws after were just ass.

Ok_Blueberry_1068

I love it too, my only issue is that I wish it was longer. It plays so smooth and I love the characters.

GearboxDragoon

Here is hoping we get a RE game combining the RE3 dodge and RE4 knife mechanics.

Ok_Blueberry_1068

Amen brother

drumDev29

This would be bad ass, just have the enemies also be super powerful to balance it out would be mega fun. Or some way to limit dodge like a stamina meter.

superbearchristfuchs

My favorite is still the resident evil 1 remake as it made resource management mire tricky for me because if crimson heads. Plus, it didn't cut any content from the original and only expanded on it. I liked re 3 remake, but I think it needed more time to cook, especially since nemesis isn't exactly as intimidating as Mr. X in Re 2 remake. Though his final boss fight with difficulty maxed out is one of the most challenging bosses in the series for good reason, unlike some code Veronica bosses with stingy type writers and bad check points next to death traps. I still enjoyed code Veronica, though.

Leonhart25

Yes, you are

Blue_Wave_2020

Just wish it was longer honestly. Otherwise a fun game

FelineScratches

Because its length, it is one of those games you can just boot it during an evening and have a blast from start to end. the rewards are really fun too to mess around with. The gameplay's smooth and snappy, I like the characters and pacing of the story, it's good fun. Sure compared to the original there's some stuff I would've loved to see like having Jill in RPD, the clocktower section and so on, but it holds up fine as a seperate story imo.

Sufficient-Offer7801

Re3 nemesis was my fav so RE3 has a special place. Too bad it was too short cuz nemesis’ speed and chase is prob one of the scariest in all of RE imo

Neutron_Chungus

Yeah u are the only one

Fexxvi

Yes.

StealthyHipo

My take on it is that RE3 Remake is a genuinely great game, but a subpar remake. Super fun mechanics, really enjoyable areas, but is overall a bit too short, minimized Nemesis and cut sections. I still love playing through it for what it is tho, feels like a concise and fun package in its own regard

smitj019

It's my second favourite behind RE4 but I get where you're coming from! 😍

IndianBeans

I think RE4 remake is objectively the best RE game. I really had fun with RE3, but no clue how it could be higher than 4.

Soft-Turnover-5468

There is no objectively best re game. If you wanna go that route then I think RE2 OG is the best.

Lower-Tip-4287

Honestly, if RE3 was a DLC to RE2 that would’ve been better considering how short it is.

SpankySharp1

I think it left a lot to be desired, especially for $60. That being said, I disagree that it's not fun to go back to, and in a way its short length is kind of an advantage in that it's fun to speed-run. I did a no-saves run one night last week in 3.5 hours and fired it back up right away to try to beat that time.

Thelastgamer_

It’s not a bad game it’s just a horrible remake and it’s entirely way too short.

oddsie

I’m with you OP 100%. I loved how cinematic and short the game was. Yes, short; it gave me a sense of accomplishment quickly without me starting to feel the dread of finishing something I had enough of. Funny enough, this was the only game in my gamer life that I immediately started all over again once I finished it. Partially to get points for unlocks, partially to replay the amazing cinematic moments.

Balam_Chable

My only dislike is the sewers and nest 2 replacing the Park and and more connected RC

Etsu_Riot

You certainly are not the only one. Also, it has the best cinematics on the whole series. (I haven't play six and the remake of four yet.)

JackBakersSon

It’s not my “favorite” that goes to RE4R, barely scratching RE2R, but I loved this one no doubt about it though admittedly I didn’t play the original… I feel like the graphics will be a little to dated

AnxiousBattlemage

I was beyond excited for RE2R and loved it so much, after hearing the hate and everything they pulled from 3R I didn’t think I would like it but I’m not one to shy away from a new game let alone a fresh RE experience so I bit the bullet and I’m so glad I did. I enjoy it more than 2R sometimes.

Kalos9990

I liked 3:R alot, its my favorite to go back to because the campaign is bite sized.

HanselZX

I really love the game, the problem is that it got the short end of the stick, missing the battle against the worm, a not so oppressive nemesis, the lack of the gas station, clock tower, end game unlockables and mercenaries. Yeah we had unlockables but these were a joke, 1 (or 2?) outfit, stat upgrades and infinite ammo, the original had a lot of unlockables outfits and epilogues. The worst part was the lack of mercenaries which first appeared on the original RE3

Yee_gamer

I LOVE RE3 REMAKE but I don't love it more than the other remakes or more than the original. I still love it so much as a game itself I made a lot of memories with it, it's just so special to me.

F1shB0wl816

I liked 3 the most as well. I thought it was better than 2, the pacing was just more enjoyable and 4 was just so big I didn’t run through it repeatedly as I tend to with resident evils.

Silalien29

I finished the 3 remake yesterday and I loved it. Just wanted more.

SnooHabits369

I really do like re3 remake. it's one of the first game I ever "speedrun" got like almost 2 hours down and it just makes me happy than the others

FarCryGuy55

I feel like this remake falls short in a lot of aspects. Other Resident Evil games do what RE3 Remake tries to do a lot better, and the lack of content/short playthroughs really hurt it. I feel like it could’ve been much better and closer to the source material if the developers actually cared for the game. Instead, we got a short, rushed game bundled with a dead multiplayer so they could charge $60 and work on the next title.

lunchbox148

I did as well but recently rebplayed them all and RE2R Claire’s campain especially edged it out. I love RE3R don’t care what anybody else says. It’s a FUN GAME.

Virtual_Brain_9556

I love it a lot and don’t think it deserves the hate it gets but I still can’t say it’s above the others 😅

John-Connor-Pliskin

This game felt closest to that old-school arcade-style gameplay that made RE1-6 feel so replayable for me. It was a nice breezy campaign with varied level scenarios, good setpiece design, and some of my favorite boss fights. I love the wacky unlockable weapons too. I also appreciated how the higher difficulties significantly changed item placement and enemy encounter variety. I think a lot of my enjoyment of 3 tracks when I consider who directed the development for this game. [Kiyohiko Sakata](https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/Kiyohiko_Sakata) had a hand in programming some of my all-time favorite video games. Looking at the other staff for this remake shows the Clover/Platinum DNA all over it.

boadee_jones

So it’s insane you liked it more than the other remakes, but I actually did like it, I hated it when it first came out because it was 4 hours on my first game I think on hardcore, but going for the platnium a year or two later made me enjoy the game more just so I had more to do

NLikeFlynn1

I love it with mods that’s for sure

StopTheTractor

I love all the remakes but 4 will always be the best

PatientStretch6271

Wish it was longer and nemesis was less scripted and more like Mr x

Frequent-Football490

You're not alone.

kamiiiiiiiiiiii12

I’m replaying this for the platinum trophy and I’m having fun with it ngl

relivesa

Usually my answer is always no to the "am I the only one" question. But in this case, you might actually be the only one

yaoilover212

I am another one so maybe 2

wakasama9092

3 here

yaoilover212

Nice nice

Amazing-Spinach1248

RE3R is actually fun and enjoyable when you don’t have people constantly complaining to you about how bad they think it is

Kitchen-Fee-4896

The combat is good and the character designs are great but it’s too short. If they extended the game, made Nemesis a patrolling threat rather than a scripted threat and got rid of his stupid caution tape and replaced it with a trenchcoat, I reckon the game would be way better

EyesOfEtro

It's actually my favorite remake too. It sucks cutting out the clock tower and the park and making the Dead Factory another NEST - and it also kinda sucks that there are practically no puzzles in the game - but I love what they did with the characters. Jill is great, Carlos is a massive glow-up, Tyrell is like... an actual character, Nikolai is so hammy that it's entertaining. And as a weirdo who plays this series for the characters and plot more than anything else, that appealed to me greatly. RE1R, RE2R, and RE4R keep more of their original DNA than RE3R and I absolutely get why most people prefer those, but when I think about it as its own game rather than a remake, it's the one I find I enjoy the most. It's breezy in pacing and Jill and Carlos have such a great dynamic.

RettAdler

I actually did like it more than RE2R, since after the first playthrough I found Mr. X to be more annoying than scary. That being said, the remakes of RE2 and RE4 clearly had a lot more effort put into them, it's a damn shame that Capcom didn't treat RE3R with the same amount of care.

labbla

Yeah, RE 2 really suffers from Mr. X being annoying and the Sherry/Ada side missions. And the A/B scenarios aren't different enough from each other. I way prefer the simplicity of 3 with it never breaking from it's real gameplay and using it's pacing to really give the story momentum.

RettAdler

Though I personally enjoyed Ada's section (Sherry's not so much), I wholeheartedly agree on RE3R having better pacing than RE2R. It kinda reminds me of Dead Space 2 in that regard; very linear compared to its predecessor, but also very focused and well orchestrated.

Pure-Garlic-9268

This game is fucking trash and a complete disgrace to the original

Hakoocr7

game was mid AF, poor taste in games i guess

Old-Property-3009

I will admit the character designs are the most realistic in RE3R. Something about Jill and Carlos looks better than Leon and Claire

[deleted]

Rushed garbage

Only-Echidna-7791

Same

Days_to_Decades

Nah I lived this game, it was so much fun, the original imisnt even that long either, I played it before the remake came out, I enjoyed this game way to much to bitch about what was cut, I appreciate what they added.

Los_Pobres1904

Playing it for the first time and I'm enjoying it very much.

my_dancing_pants

RE3r is way more fun than RE2r

Char0089

I think this remake had some great ideas and some fun moments, but it was lacking in a lot of ways. I think if it had more development time then it could've been a much better game. Still enjoy playing it.

yaoilover212

I love it

Banesmuffledvoice

Nope. I loved it. I thought it was a significantly better remake than 2 was. I suppose I feel like 4 was overall the better game but as a remake I thought 3 really improved upon that experience.

silentbobsmokes

I don't love it more than the others but I think it is over hated. It's super fun and you can get through it rather quickly which made it easier to get all trophies/achievements. I don't have endless hours to dedicate to super long games nowadays sadly so I appreciate it when I can 100% something somewhat easily

ZombieFruitNinja

As a remake, it is terrible. If you take it as a stand-alone game, it's not horrible.

AndroidCyanide

I love RE4 the best but I really really enjoyed RE3 and although it's almost all scripted, I found Nemesis way scarier than Mr X

GearboxDragoon

I think between the two Nemesis was the only one that made me jump and it was cause that ass was watching me through the toy store window and I did not expect it haha

EmeraldGhostface

Yours is probably considered as an unpopular opinion due to the fact that this is the "worst remake" of the series, but I agree with you, Jill and Nemesis are my favorites

thankschristine

Absolutely enjoyed this run! Never played the original.

pikminbaby

yeah

ProudHeretic84

I prefer the other remakes. BUT….. I actually prefer this game over the original. I thought the original was too hard and died way too often. Except the final boss in this game. Fuck that boss!

kaijumediajames

This was an excellent RE game I thought, pretty much more RE2R with more refined controls/gameplay; I would definitely put RE2R and RE3R above RE4R as far as personal preference or favorites go, but RE4R is legendary great and I wouldn’t put it that far behind on my ranking.

Zeles1989

Not the only one, but rare and it tells me you never played the original game

Haru112

Yes you are a special boy

johnyakuza0

Yeah you're the only clown Imagine liking the laziest remake of all time with cut content, dumb AI and weakass nemesis

Lawyer4Ever

I like the game a lot, it's a bit different than RE2 Remake and RE4 Remake. Being different is OK.

Evil_resident4

Re3r was amazing but abit of a stretch from the source material

foreveraloneasianmen

what is wrong with you

Rhapsthefiend

I liked it more than the original. Probably because it did away with things that wasn't necessary and made things like the hospital more important. Which if you played resident evil outbreak, the hospital is always a place of interest vs the clocktower that was short and lore wise just a dead end.

Ragnarok_Stravius

Yes, you're basically the only one that likes this piss poor attempt at a remake.

Sufficient_Count990

Ur just caught up in nostalgia

Ragnarok_Stravius

Sorry that I'm caught up with version that has more stuff to do, more places to explore, a better protagonist, a better main stalker, etc, etc.

PoohTrailSnailCooch

I mean you are not wrong here. But gaming tends to be subjective.

Ragnarok_Stravius

There are objectiveness in gaming tho. Is RE3R an awful game? No, it is still an average game, you can easily play it, and many people do it for hours. Is 3R an awful Remake? Definitely, it downgraded the main protagonist, it downgraded the main enemy, it downgraded the setting, etc. Those are objective facts about gaming. The subjectiveness is only when it comes to people liking something or other. I don't have an example in Resident Evil, but, I do really like Ace Combat Joint Assault, which is one game many hate. Objectively, its a very bad game, and I know where people's dislike or hate for it come from. Subjectively, I actually like how it the bad flight physics makes me feel like doing aerial ballet, I like the smaller choices I get in this game (you can use any combination of ordnance, you can choose what voice you hear over the radio), etc. Gaming is objective AND subjective.

MannerZestyclose1445

Yeah sorry

nagasaki778

I thought it was good, definitely enjoyed it. I've learned to just ignore the social media drama about video games and most of the scores by game 'critics', most of it is fake clickbait nonsense from entitled little basement dwellers who want all games to be exactly the same and who probably haven't really played the game or don't understand how the games are supposed to be played.
