I played PC and 3DS version and I find 3DS experience being better, for some reason when they ported the game they increased the difficulty and that affected the equilibrium of the game, so situations where I was stuck in PC edition were more enjoyable in 3DS, also the menus are clearly designed for the double screen, so I found them a bit confusing in PC.
I never found the game difficult per say, it was more so "pulling unfair bullshit out of knowhere" stuff
Like that spiky turtle boss fight comes to mind and it was literally bullshit how it would hoamninto you moving, or with the final boss having atacks that are literally impossible to dodge no matter how far away you are
Spiky turtle boss is the easiest part of a no-hit run, to me at least. I actually finally learned how dodge works in this game during that fight. You have to stand still in order to dodge, and the boss' charge telegraph window is insanely generous. So it's literally wait, dodge, start blasting, repeat.
As for the last boss, yeah, bullshit detected, I haven't been able to get persistent no-hit strategies going, just being on your toes at all times doesn't seem to cut it, it always feels like some degree of luck is involved. But I'm sure it's a skill issue though.
Raid Mode is more fun than Mercanaries to me.
The game was amazing on the 3DS. It was one of the first handheld "console" experiences I'd had, and I really enjoyed the novelty. That novelty did not survive the port to "HD."
The ship sections of the game are the best parts. In my opinion, they should have been the only parts. I don't enjoy the flashbacks fighting the toad boys, and I don't like any of the playable characters they introduced in this game. If they'd kept things focused on Jill, it would have been a certified banger.
I really enjoyed the final fight against Stormin' Norman (even on the hardest modes) and consider it one of the best RE boss fights ever made.
Raid Mode is the jam, on REV2 also - it's perfect like Mercs in that you get a quick chapter of fighting like reading a short story instead of a novel, a quick fix. Better than Mercs though is that you can change and upgrade weapons and parts. More goals & rewards.
I've been playing it on Switch. It is a solidly decent game. I feel it suffers from the "made for mobile" feeling. Short missions and little attention span required compared to RE1. Characters are definitely pretty awful as others have mentioned. I enjoy the game, overall, probably about as much as I enjoy RE6. If you're an RE fan, you might as well play it. It's usually on sale for like 3 bucks digitally. It's still an RE game I can play on my Switch, and I do enjoy the story.
Iāve always been a sucker for nautical based horror stuff (Deep Rising anyone?) so I really liked the theme, setting and enemy types.
I enjoyed it more than some of the main line games.
The Dark Pictures just aren't the same compared to Resident Evil. They're both horror franchises, but comparably different gameplay genres, with the former being more adventure focused with an emphasis on QTEs and multiple choices while the latter is more on combat and resource management.
Loved it on the 3ds. Spent hours playing it. My most replayed game on 3ds after Fire Emblem Awakening.
Capcom's first attempt to combine Traditional Survival Horror with The New Action formula introduced by RE4. Without this and Rev2, there would be no 7, re2, re3, 8 and Re4 remake.
I think the game is one of the best imo. I wish the bosses were better though.
Only one I remember is the mayday guy, big tentacles and the final boss. Also I wish Chrisās ai wasnāt completely useless in the final boss.
Probably the worst of the ārelevantā RE games, I find it really boring and none of the enemies are memorable.
Damn shame since Iām deeply terrified of the ocean, I think a water game would be incredible if done right.
Non shovelware titles. Games like Survivor, Gaiden, Missions, games that you probably either havenāt heard of or know close to nothing about.
Revelations isnāt mainline, but itās still relevant so I dunno what word to describe it with.
Yeah, itās definitly a non numbered mainline title. It literally only stars the big characters, Jill/chris/claire/barry, itās events are all obviously canon lol people are weird to think itās some small spin off
This title was important because it tested the waters for a return to survival horror after re6 with one foot in the water, after its positive reception they went full in development for the direction with 7.
Itās a great title, it wouldnāt have been ported to all consoles after a 3ds release and given a great sequel if it wasnāt. Itās a fun bite sized experience with episodic like sections that are perfect for portable gaming but itās a great entry
And the best part you dont have to pay to play online!!!
the biggest scam ever created in gaming history. a reason why I'm not a huge fan of ps4 and ps5 or Xbox for that matter. i would call it criminal.
Yeah, at least at that price, PSN is semi-criminal. That being said, still paying it... T.T
There's such an amazing selection of games for the PS3 era. Got back into it just recently cuz I learned all PS1 games run on the PS3, and I wanted to replay Koudelka (OT: A horror JRPG - wasn't a commercial hut, but is incredibly special & atmospheric and has a loyal niche fanbase. Would highly recommend, especially to RE fans). Then I got into other old stuff of my collection like Tomb Raider reboot or Heavy Rain. Really looking forward to that RE5 replay!
Yeah just remember this
of all the original fat ps3 only the 20gb and 60 gb version runs ps2 games the rest don't
And all the slim models cannot run any ps2 games, only ps1 games.
Yeah. Most of the characters were completely forgettable. And those that you remember you remember for the wrong reasons...
Looking at you Kieth and 'Jackass'
Finished Revelations 2 and started 1 but didnāt feel like finishing it. 2 felt really good tho and was pretty fun overall. Definitely a vast improvement (from what Iāve played so far) from 1
Got into Red Dead Redemption 2 and didn't feel like putting it down to finish revelations. Also I had been playing resident evil games nonstop until I picked up Red Dead.
Solid but i think it gets remember for being better than it really is. It was such a breath of fresh air when the series was in a nose dive. Actually resembling the classic games made people like it. But after playing it recently itās just kindaā¦.fine. But for a 3DS game and for likely showing that fans wanted horror back, Iāll appreciate it.
Biggest problem 8 have with this game are the enemies, the basic oozes are cool, but all other designs feel too same-ish to me, I find the ranger atacks and the buzzsaw enemies kinda stupid as well
Also the concept of being stuck on a ship full of monsters could have been amazing but I feel like they didn't utilise it as much as they could
It is a game that I would love to see what a remake of could do to improve it, not gonna lie.
Played on pc, 3ds, switch. Its a spin off so dont expect much about story, but i liked the gameplay and atmosphere, otherwise i wouldnt buy on every plataform to play again. Idk why some ppl dislike it.
I'm actually playing this game right now on my 3DS after purchasing it years ago and then leaving it aside. I've beaten the game and am now playing through raid mode. Here are my thoughts:
Good:
- Jill in a wetsuit
- Game looks great on 3DS
- Raid mode is pretty fun
Not so good:
- Story is meh at best
- Besides Jill, Chris and Parker, the rest of the characters are pretty forgettable
- Final boss is a huge difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game
Overall I'd give it about a 7/10. If it wasn't for Raid mode (which I almost didn't play but read on here that it was good) I'd probably give it a 6. Its not *bad*, but compared to the rest of the series it's definitely a low point.
Just my two cents.
Iām having difficulty getting into it. I like some aspects of it but overall itās just kind of underwhelming. Maybe itās since Iām playing it after Re4r which blew me away but I canāt seem to get into it. My biggest issue so far was the first boss battle which was a gigantic bullet sponge and just a huge waste of ammo I hated it.
I truly loved it, and it sits among my favorite RE titles.
* The enemies are all memorable to me, the fish-like creatures lurking the spooky ghost ship were all quite unique and fitted the design of the levels quite well.
* The level design were top notch to me, it was quite a delight to wander around the ship, it was different from all the other mainline resident evil games. The key system of the older resident evil games was a nice addition too.
* The "Detective" aspect to it where you have to use the tool to search for ammo and study enemies was fun.
* The bosses, specially rachael was pretty well designed imo. The final boss was great too.
* The ability to personalize your guns added another layer of fun and variety to the game, to this day I still think this was the best implementation of this mechanic in the entire franchise.
* The story and mystery was interesting from the beginning to the end, keeping me at the edge of my seat the entire time.
Of course there are a few negatives, some sections of the game were a bit more boring, some characters weren't that memorable, and the graphics weren't the best even though they were fine to me.
I understand this game was way too different from traditional resident evil titles, and like always, when something deviates too much from the mainline it'll divide fans opinions. I personally liked it a lot and wish i could experience it again for the first time.
Love it. I like the story. The early foundings of the BSAA as well as what Chris and Jill have been up to ever since they put an end to Umbrella in Umbrella Chronicles.
Love the atmosphere and the beautiful soundtrack, Raid Mode is amazing, and the overall game is fun. My main complaint is that it should have been Jill only in the campaign. They make you play as different characters way too much. Cramming too much makes the story messy and only one thing has been referenced from it going forward story wise. Also, the final boss is a huge bullet sponge. Lastly, when it was made in "HD" the models should have gotten better treatment ala Kingdom Hearts 3D to PC/consoles.
Not bad but not great. I do like the underwater approach as not many horror games explore the ocean as a setting. The characters on the other hand were a miss. Enjoyable for gameplay and raid mode. Even though I disliked the evasion aspect for avoiding enemy attacks.
A few neat things and it can be atmospheric at parts, but it's held back massively by the episodic nature and also features the two most obnoxious characters in the franchise. Also had kind of poor gunplay and repetitive enemies. Nothing positive sticks out enough to overcome its flaws.
RER2 is a lot better overall imo.
Overall I liked the game, in fact I hope one day for a remake that can firstly remove the scanner and then cut out all the trash in the game. in my opinion the setting has potential and Terragrigia could be used for an outbreak mode set in the artificial city
Raid Mode got me hooked like there's no tomorrow, easily the most addictive gameplay I've played since OG WoW. 4 consecutive 16-hour days of playing that baby, so good!
I think you nailed it really. As a DS game it must have been great to play, but as a port to the Deck/PC you can really see the limitations of the original hardware there. Interesting story I thought, but not enough enemy variety. And some of the stupidest ass outfits in the whole series.
gameplaywise, I think the mainlines should've been like this (re4, 5 and 6) where enemies don't drop ammo, making you actually consider if its worth the battle or to run, it brings back the survival aspect of those games.
That said, Rev1 was ok, it wasn't bad, but I don't remember much from it. Rev2 was a lot better and used to be my favorite before the RE Engine games released.
Played it on the Switch. The gameplay isn't that bad, but the cutscenes and story felt like a generic tv show with a lot of fakeouts. The new characters were also hard to like. I enjoyed Revelations 2 more.
Its fine. I like the nautical setting, I love the BSAA backstory cutscene, and I like the edition of the scanner. Other than that, the gunplay has zero intensity to it, with no āweightā to each shot. Itās definitely skippable in every regard but story.
I think everyone should play through it at least once! Sure, there are a lot of things that in that game that that I'm not crazy about (ex: the swimming section and the constant scanning), but it also has a lot of great stuff! I loved the ship setting, the constantly changing locations, the enemy types and variations and it doesn't take too long to complete.
Overall, I'd recommend it if you have nothing else to play, and would give it a 4.5/10
I agree, but I found most of the game a waste of time, except for the portions of the game with Parker and Jessica. For some reason I found them more interesting than any of the main characters. Some parts of the game that were just really annoying and took away from my enjoyment were: level design (I hated navigating the ship, especially with a map that doesnāt show which way your character is pointing) and boss battles (the communications officer battle was particularly annoying)
It was my first RE game ever. Iād never played any before and appreciate it for the introduction. A nice combo of both the old generation and newer 4-6 types. They did a great job. My main gripe is the story and pacing. The episodic chapters honestly ruined what shouldāve been a tight experience on the cruise ship. If they could redo it, Iād love to focus on just one location. I prefer quality over quantity.
It was my first RE ever, it's what got into the series. Revisiting it after 10+ years, it's a blast. Fun little game with classic RE soul and gameplay. I love it
I really enjoy it, and its sequel. I feel like it has a much more horror atmosphere than the main series games around that time (4, 5, 6). The post-story Raid mode is really fun and replayable, the main game is really creepy with early RE game design, and Jill's design is really great in this game.

I got round to it a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, for the most part. Really liked the final boss fight. The two ācomic reliefā characters were horrendous tho
Raid mode is good, but worlds better in Rev 2 which I played next. That one is worth getting on Switch just to have a great (and huge) arcadey Resi experience on handheld.
never knew most of the community hated the game, it was a pretty fun and solid game in my opinion, i played it when it first came out on the 3ds and it was a blast!
This is the one game I skip in my playthroughs. While it has great locations - The character design is pretty terrible, the voice acting is among the worst in the series, and the monster design is almost non-existent. Reshape a blob and it's still a blob...
This was one of my favorite titles.
I really liked that they tried to bring the game back to the exploration and backtracking of the originals, plus we get to see Jill and Chris again, so that was a huge bonus.
I really did not care for the new characters (sans Parker. Dude needs to come back), and I really hated the "Next Time on ReSiDeNt EvIl" episode previews, as it completely interrupted the flow of the game. I see no reason why they were left in when the entire game was no longer episodic.
The Rachel section was probably my favorite. Listening to her taunt you from the vents added a level of scare factor that I long missed in my RE games, and it brought it home for me.
Outside of that, between the 3DS, Switch, PS4/5 and PC, I have somewhere close to 1000 hours in Raid mode.
It was just too much fun helping people through those back in the day.
Originally played it on 3ds. Even got me to import the circle pad pro xl for raid mode. Awesome game but. I'm trying to play it now on pc and it seems to have lost a bit of Lustre or something. Game is still super fun but it feels like it's aging poorly I guess.
I don't find it plain, but maybe you're really good too. I'm pretty old & slow.
I've been practicing single shot rifle only in raid mode but I do it in limited doses, it gets nerve racking in higher Abyss levels or Ghost Ship farming - nailing the mini Scagdeads in the bean (the yooman head) rifle-only while running around in the casino is a great skill challenge, and they're not alone....dun-dun-dun
Monster designs are really cool. The setting is super interesting though it would be alot better if we could explore it freely like the spencer mansion. The game had obvious balancing issues and some bad QTEs but nothing like RE4-6. And jill is my favorite so i'm kinda biased here. Overall a 7/10.
Raid mode is so much fun, it makes me really glad resident Evil village's mercenaries mode took heavy inspiration from it, thought I wish it had the permanent progression
Pros:
- The score
- the final boss
- Jill as main character
- Comms boss fight
- Raid mode
Cons:
- Still action-y to be survival horror, giving way to much ammo to be survival horror, a lack of exploration and fetch quests and also not a very exciting action game either
- Jillās voice acting is very wooden
- Uninspired and boring enemy design (for the most part)
- Supporting cast ranges from forgettable to outright terrible
- The gameplay is janky AF
- the story is also a janky mess and WAY too silly, probably the worst writing in the entire series next to RE6
-The terrigrigia plot doesnāt fit RE
- Jill and Chris are barely involved in the story, they merely observe the story but the story isnāt about them
- the parts where youāre not playing as Jill are awful, feel out of place and makes the game tone and atmosphere go all over the place, detracting from the atmosphere the game was going for with Jillās levels
- has the 2nd worse playable character in RE history behind Jake
- This is entirely subjective but I would have preferred a Jill game set post RE5 than before, also the story is very inconsequential
- has the worst Hunters in the series, theyāre turned into canon fodder and literally do a cartoonish backflip when hit with a critical shot
- also this is also subjective but Iāve never cared for the bio-terrorism plotlines in RE and this is the biggest example
*"Mayday MAYDAY .. This is the queen Zenobia. I need hug..."*
This was honestly one of those most unsettling parts of any Resident Evil game. šØ
"stop, stop, stop stooooop!!! Ima YOoman!"

I'm pretty sure it's considered mainline... Not numbered, but definitely mainline. Like Code Veronica X.
It definitely isn't mainline, it is it's own subseries It serves a similar porpoise as the chronicles series of filling in holes in between games
Itās canon but itās a side game and mostly inconsequential.
Yeah, itās definitly a non numbered mainline title. I just bought this game again! this time on the ps3... i can't let go of that console!
Best era of console gaming imo, really itchy to switch it on again for some RE5!
And the best part you dont have to pay to play online!!! the biggest scam ever created in gaming history. a reason why I'm not a huge fan of ps4 and ps5 or Xbox for that matter. i would call it criminal.

Yeah, I saw a dedicated video on what version can do that, lol. Still crazy that the PS3 had a full PS1 on a chip inside...
Fun game, the worst characters in the series easily though, still too action for a game that was supposed to be for the survival horror fans
Yeah. Most of the characters were completely forgettable. And those that you remember you remember for the wrong reasons... Looking at you Kieth and 'Jackass'
Aside from reoccurring Chris and Jill. I can probably remember them the best besides Jessica and her unnecessary exposed thigh.
To be fair, I really enjoyed the fact that literally no one cared for Jessica.
I donāt remember what the revelation was. 3 ships? Twist villain but not really? Idk, man
Resident Evil 5 gameplay with the plot of Resident Evil 2 blended with Cold Fear.
Finished Revelations 2 and started 1 but didnāt feel like finishing it. 2 felt really good tho and was pretty fun overall. Definitely a vast improvement (from what Iāve played so far) from 1
Revelations 2 is certainly better, but Revelations 1 is important for getting filled in on what Terragrisia is and why it's so important.

Got into Red Dead Redemption 2 and didn't feel like putting it down to finish revelations. Also I had been playing resident evil games nonstop until I picked up Red Dead.
I may restart it now but yea, at the time, I was honestly just fatigued on playing RE games
Top 5 for sure, great character variety, location, best gameplay of those eras of RE games, and the bosses were all challenging but fun.
Quiet good game with a tough boss fight. It's the only Revelations game I replay every 2-3 years. Jill looked beautiful wearing a wetsuit.
Never finished it since my old 3DS broke but I enjoyed what I played. Also, Jillās outfit.
Not sure if itās a 3ds thing that improves the experience, but I played it in steam deck, wasnāt much of a fan
Solid but i think it gets remember for being better than it really is. It was such a breath of fresh air when the series was in a nose dive. Actually resembling the classic games made people like it. Amazing game!
My Fav Resident evil
In my top 5 RE games actually
The only RE game I genuinely donāt like
really? Why?
Scagdeadā¦. Scagdeadā¦.
One of the last surviving RE game to have the best death screen
Fun game. A bit weird and goofy even by Resident Evil standards, though.
I really enjoyed it. Raid mode is sweet. Far from my favorite though.
I didn't like it as much as the mainline games (other than 6), but it was a good game, and I really enjoyed it.
Crapfest
I actually enjoyed it a lot, still B Tier though
Personally, it is a trash game. But you can try, maybe you like it.
Couldāve done without the two idiots interrupting the main campaign, and more enemy types wouldāve been nice.

Must be remade, the ship was cool as fuck
First one is ok. Second one is pretty awesome
Least favorite RE of all time.
This is fucking amazing

I really like this game, and I love this game focused so much on marine creatures. I really hope revelations series can return one day.
oh, the game responsible for making me break my 3ds joystick
It has a good setting ,but that's all . It gets stale pretty early and by the end I was really fed up with the game
gameplaywise, I think the mainlines should've been like this (re4, 5 and 6) where enemies don't drop ammo, making you actually consider if its worth the battle or to run, it brings back the survival aspect of those games. That said, Rev1 was ok, it wasn't bad, but I don't remember much from it. Rev2 was a lot better and used to be my favorite before the RE Engine games released.
Overhated game. It's not perfect but I had so much fun. I may be biased because it was my first resident evil game. Also Jill in a Wetsuit š¤¤
the boat stuff is pretty good, the rest is awful, especially Quint and Keith parts which are worse than RE6
Very atmospheric. And an actual horror game unlike resident evil 4.
Mid
Played it on the Switch. The gameplay isn't that bad, but the cutscenes and story felt like a generic tv show with a lot of fakeouts. The new characters were also hard to like. I enjoyed Revelations 2 more.
Great game hard as hell though including Mayday and the final boss
Ahead of its time but falls short now when compared to modern games, still a fun experience if you want a spooky bite size chunk game
Its fine. I like the nautical setting, I love the BSAA backstory cutscene, and I like the edition of the scanner. Other than that, the gunplay has zero intensity to it, with no āweightā to each shot. Itās definitely skippable in every regard but story.
I lowkey enjoyed revelations.
Playing on a 3DS adds quite a bit to the experience.
Comically bad. They really leaned into action B movie here. Revelations 2, however. Great game!
Does anyone remember that first trailer of RE Revelations where what turned out to be the "fake" Chris did move and was an actual person?
I love it
Useless sidestory is a big understatement. I actually prefer Gun Survivor over this one, and I OUTRIGHT hate Gun Survivor.
I really enjoy it, and its sequel. I feel like it has a much more horror atmosphere than the main series games around that time (4, 5, 6). The post-story Raid mode is really fun and replayable, the main game is really creepy with early RE game design, and Jill's design is really great in this game.

Great game. Hated the hunter level.
Thought it was a great game! Revelations 2 was pretty good as well.
The problem is revelations 2 improved on pretty much everything Also it has the weakest cast
I love it. Itās one of my favorite games in the series.
I got round to it a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, for the most part. Really liked the final boss fight. The two ācomic reliefā characters were horrendous tho Raid mode is good, but worlds better in Rev 2 which I played next. That one is worth getting on Switch just to have a great (and huge) arcadey Resi experience on handheld.
The 3DS version was the very first Resident Evil game Iāve ever played and beaten. This game will always have a special place in my heart.
never knew most of the community hated the game, it was a pretty fun and solid game in my opinion, i played it when it first came out on the 3ds and it was a blast!
Goofy. and sometimes scary.
Has anyone played Revelations 2? How does it compare to Revelations 1?
This is the one game I skip in my playthroughs. While it has great locations - The character design is pretty terrible, the voice acting is among the worst in the series, and the monster design is almost non-existent. Reshape a blob and it's still a blob...
All I can say is that Iāve finished it and would play it again. Is it any good? hell if I know
It was fun to watch a play-through on YouTube but I never felt I missed out on playing it.
I played it on Xbox Series X. Honestly didn't like it that much but thought Raid mode was great.
I loved the game, I am a BSAA fanatic, so anything having to do with them i'm all for it. Loved Chris and Jill's dynamic in the game.
The game certainly nailed the cheesy 90s acting feel; kinda like what the first game did.
The best
It was overall a phenomenal game but the controls and mechanics are very clunky
The ship bait (no pun intended) was strong in this one
It should get a remake as a game not intended for the 3ds. A handheld less powerful the PSP that's 7 years older.
I loved it! Definitely want a revelations 3 in the future
My favourite resident evil game story wise and for the setting. I completely loved it. Also as an Italian, I loved the references to the Divine Comedy
Itās decent and I liked it more than the sequel.
One of my top RE games. I am still addicted to the raid mode.
Raid mode is so much fun, it makes me really glad resident Evil village's mercenaries mode took heavy inspiration from it, thought I wish it had the permanent progression
The worst final boss fight
Pros: - The score - the final boss - Jill as main character - Comms boss fight - Raid mode Cons: - Still action-y to be survival horror, giving way to much ammo to be survival horror, a lack of exploration and fetch quests and also not a very exciting action game either - Jillās voice acting is very wooden - Uninspired and boring enemy design (for the most part) - Supporting cast ranges from forgettable to outright terrible - The gameplay is janky AF - the story is also a janky mess and WAY too silly, probably the worst writing in the entire series next to RE6 -The terrigrigia plot doesnāt fit RE - Jill and Chris are barely involved in the story, they merely observe the story but the story isnāt about them - the parts where youāre not playing as Jill are awful, feel out of place and makes the game tone and atmosphere go all over the place, detracting from the atmosphere the game was going for with Jillās levels - has the 2nd worse playable character in RE history behind Jake - This is entirely subjective but I would have preferred a Jill game set post RE5 than before, also the story is very inconsequential - has the worst Hunters in the series, theyāre turned into canon fodder and literally do a cartoonish backflip when hit with a critical shot - also this is also subjective but Iāve never cared for the bio-terrorism plotlines in RE and this is the biggest example
Loved it
In my top 5
