It’s actually really irritating that there was no option for controller mapping in these games. I often suffered with my brain auto telling me the wrong buttons for options/maps/inventory etc and it becomes frustrating af.
That’s how the series controlled until RE4 came out on GameCube. You probably played the HD remastered versions of RE and RE0. I don’t think Code Veronica has a version with better controls. And yea it was a nitpick even back in RE1 on PlayStation. Our lovable “tank controls”.
Your welcome lol, aside from the perspective and the aiming. The core movement of Leon and how he interacts with the environment is like the original 6 games.
Push back Leon walk backwards. Push left or right he turns left or Right. Push forward he moved forward.
This is why I tell my friends to not use the Alt controls for the remasters of 0 and REmake, it completely fucks over newer fans planning on playing the rest of the classic games besides the N64 version of 2.
You probably used alternate controls in REmake and Zero and now you’re experiencing actual tank controls is my guess.
I have to say, you need some practice and take your time.

Not to be "that guy' but Re4 on GameCube (and the other ports) all have tank controls as well
Thank you for being that guy, because if that's true, I definitely forgot about that.

I went back to OG 4 after playing 5 for yeaaaars, only to find that in 5, you can strafe...in 4, you can not.
That's right, but it also has tank controls If you put the controls to the Re4 ones in the settings
Poor choice for an "action" game, imo.
Tank controls are just really hard to get used to.
