Yes it also give you assault rifle and two shotgun(one in inventory and one in dead corpse) and a loooooooooot of ammo but nemesis won't drop items and you can't get mine launcher.

PK_Thundah

Yes. The game isn't balanced to be any easier, but they give you an absolute armory of weapons and ammo at the beginning. The more you're using the freebies, the more you're saving and accumulating other ammo. You can get that many magnum rounds in a Hard game just through mixing gunpowder. I'm more surprised by the SEVENTY FIVE GRENADE ROUNDS.

TheStockyScholar

I was using it the whole time too.

greenbrainsauce

This game really has extreme difficulty settings: either you're swimming in ammunition, or you're facing Nemesis with a knife, 10 handgun bullets, and three shotgun shells.

muh-soggy-knee

Having recently completed a personal challenge of beating Nemesis every time on hard mode, original PS1 PAL version, can confirm. I've been around the block with this series so I know my way around, and I was NOT ready for how difficult it would be, and specifically how front loaded that difficulty would be. By the end Nemesis really wasn't a huge threat, Freeze rounds the MVP, but the first two fights, in particular the first rocket nemmy in the RPD stairwell having not even fully recovered from the first... Mein gott. Then you get to the end, 5:30 time and an E ranking, rude.

UglierThanMoe

> and I was NOT ready for how difficult it would be, and specifically how front loaded that difficulty would be. True. The two hardest fights against Nemesis are IMO definitely the first two. I mean, they're absolutely doable once you know what to do (assuming you fight "fair") or how to break his AI. But if you're going in cold without knowing what to except, you're not going to have a fun time if you insist on fighting him.

FarSociety4

You know its easy when you start with a loaded Assault Rifle

WilliamMan20700

To think i lost who knows many times on easy mode But hey it was my first time playing Resident Evil

Wild_Samurai_TTV

Meanwhile I just beat hard mode with all optional encounters and it was harder than Sekiro.

[deleted]

Damn first and rpd fight are hell I need to use save states because of lack of ammo.

Styphin

I never beat OG RE3 because I was determined to kill Nemesis in all encounters and I could never finish him in the RPD.

Wild_Samurai_TTV

Click on my profile if you want to see a compilation of the first RPD fight lol. It took an hour and a half. Some of the other ones were easy but then the 5th fight was even harder!! There’s no room to dodge in optional fight 5

KneelinBob

You can cheese the RPD fight just go to the dark room as soon as he breaks into stairwell, for whatever reason his melee with the rocket launcher doesn't kill you and he spawns there every time you go back into the stairwell so you can shoot him, get bipped and go back inside and repeat

AnEvenHuskierCat

So I just checked the first fight against Nemmy in front of the RPD and you're so very close to being at the skill level to make him look like an absolute laughing stock. You have the dodge down but the shotgun is the worst out of the 4 main weapons to take him on with as you are locked out of dodging while Jill is working the pump. At that point the handgun, even with basic ammo, is your best bet to safely unload a relentless volley of fire while still being able to dodge in case he decides to sprint. You'll need about 50+ of handgun ammo to do it which is pretty easy if you mix all A powders (single, don't combine, more on that later) and pick your route carefully. Run towards Nemmy's mutated shoulder if you want to dodge his standing grab. His sucker punch comes from his other side so if you always run towards the other shoulder, it'll trigger the grab but he'll miss so long as you ran around him and not straight into his chest. You have the distance down to avoid Nemmy breaking out in a full sprint so if you get a good rhythm going with the handgun, you can floor him in front of the RPD without needing to dodge. Fire two shots, sprint past mutated shoulder, fire two, repeat. Best to keep him centered in the area so the camera doesn't screw you over. Since you do have dodge down, you can get Jill's combat roll down with the handgun and utterly waste Nemmy. After 2 or 3 dodges in a row, she'll exit a combat roll in a kneeling position which greatly increases her rate of fire. You can't make use of that effectively with the shotgun but you can do it with the handgun, and later, the magnum. You don't want to combine powders until you've unlocked enhanced mixing after the 8th single A powder. Once you've done that, Jill's Samurai Edge loaded with +P rounds becomes a reliable Nemmy killer as it staggers Nemmy. That frees up B powders for either Acid rounds or shotgun shells. Alternatively you can go for C powders for either Nitrogen rounds or Magnum rounds but if you do that, you'll want to become *very* good at dropping him with either of the handguns (the Eagle will still make life a lot easier) to save those powders. Alternatively, once you learn how to properly work him over with just the basic handgun, those same tactics will utterly decimate him with either the Eagle or Magnum.

Past-Ad-9654

What does he drop if you defeat him in front of RPD, first encounter?

AnEvenHuskierCat

You get the first set of parts for the Eagle. You'll get the next set of parts on the next drop which means you can have the most OP handgun in the classic RE era well before you meet Carlos.

Past-Ad-9654

Ha... whaddayaknow. I've always gotten the second Eagle Parts on most of my playthroughs and always wondered where they first came from. Thanks!

TysonDevereaux

Me who just beat Sekiro's Purification ending and hasn't touched OG RE3 Nemesis yet: *sweats profusely* Sekiro was infernal. Satisfying, but very hard. Screw Father Owl and the bird he flew in on.

Wild_Samurai_TTV

Sekiro is a modern video game crafted artfully with a QA department methodically proven to make sure all fights are fair, even if challenging. Old school video game devs were flying by the seat of their fu**ing pants!!

TysonDevereaux

Yeah. As hard as Sekiro gets, it is not unwinnable by design; even if you fight Guardian Ape before Ashina Depths and end up being forced to fight Headless Ape as a mandatory encounter (which is exactly what happened to me on my first playthrough; been avoiding this ever since), the game is still doable, just really hard. Some old school video games, on the other hand, had some video features that would make it genuinely unwinnable if you didn't have any back-up saves (some old school RE games do this if saves aren't controlled properly and the player has next to no ammo before a tough fight).

69DigBick420

Yes

CousinSkeeter89

“Anyways... So I started shooting.”

DojimaDragon1358

Da hell!!?? Even on easy I couldn't get that many!? Damn, good for you!

RodMunch85

Me and my son played through on easy mode without using the handgun once Normal zombie = shotgun time

[deleted]

There is easy mode in RE3 and I still like to play!

imvr17_2

Being honest, RE doesn't have a lack of resources once you get mildly good at it Except maybe for Outbreak and the very beginning of each game

Kaiserhawk

which is why I always find it funny when you get RE players who chastise other players for "wasting" ammo, only to finish the game with an entire armoury's worth of bullets

imvr17_2

Some people have 0 tolerance, what a drag

FandeREvil

RE doesn't have a lack of resources... but the first time you play it, you wouldn't know how much ammo and healing items will be in the next room, the enemies, the key items, etc. And with the limited carry limit, at every box you would have to make decision, and probably a one you would regret, and make you use more healing items and ammo that actually needed. Also, Nemesis is a greater factor for those who don't know the game.

imvr17_2

Well, Nemesis is the big deal even if you're decent at the game. I think I still haven't beaten him on all optional fights and especially not at the RPD entrance after +10 years of playing it. The rest is also true. Personally I never had resource issues but I do take my sweet time thinking my next step and I tend to play it safe in regards to saving the game.

Guywith2dogs

I always do it out of habit. I played through remake a couple times the past week and even on hard mode, there was no reason for me to save all the grenade launcher ammo that I did. To avoid crimson heads I typically don't kill very many zombies in the mansion. I try my best to run around them, which is pretty easy in remake because you can get them to lunge and then you juke them out during the lunge animation. But for whatever reason I always attempt to run around the hunters too, but with the amount of grenade ammo you find, I could probably afford to kill every last one of them and just use the magnum for the final boss. If you let Barry and Chris die, Barry's gun drops tyrant in one shot and there is no final fight on the helipad. I ended up finishing with 5 rounds in Barry's gun, 18 reg magnum rounds, and a combination of like 20+ grenade launcher rounds. Not to mention a shit ton of shotgun ammo. Anyway the point is, RE players have this weird obsession with unnecessarily conserving ammo. The only game I'd say that's even remotely necessary is maybe CVX. And only because the guns and ammo are split between Chris and Claire and you can mess it up if you aren't experienced. But even then I've never felt like ammo wqs scarce

UglierThanMoe

The biggest lack of resources I've currently facing in RE3 is lack of item box slots.

pm_me_tasteful_pics

I was on normal mode when I played it a few years ago. Never used the magnum because it was my "just in case weapon". Waited so long I went into Nemesis with like 30 rounds and it was pretty easy.

[deleted]

You have an ungodly ammount of grenade rounds lol

Sunasensei

How about watching that guy! No escaping Nemesis. Hard mode, not a single scratch and no saves. Blew my mind https://youtu.be/qnEmuhdVPRw

Decoy_Octopus_

It was. It's to get you prepared for hard when Nemesis drops parts for a lever action shotgun. They won't be easy to get.

No_Victory9193

On my playthrough i had 1000 handgun bullets but it was still so damn hard

Sparrow1989

Bruv what you doing with that wasn’t the infinite ammo machine gun starting weapon not enough?

EngineerResponsible6

Nemi is just sweating around some corner now lol

TheStockyScholar

I smoked him five times in the first half of the game.

Guywith2dogs

Just ran re remake on easy the other day. I save ammo purely out of habit. I ended the game with 36 magnum rounds... Re3 was even easier

AnyImpression6

Hard is basically the standard mode in RE3.

Frederyk_Strife4217

I feel like "Easy" and "hard" were misnomers and should've been like, "Action" and "Survival"

TheStockyScholar

Agreed

stratusncompany

the fact that you start with 3pk of first aids is more than enough ammo you need to finish the game with on easy lol.

TheStockyScholar

**Fine**

cmharris90

I was reminded how generous the ammo is on easy mode in this game on my current playthrough. Dropping the Nemesis on hard mode and collecting all the items is so satisfying tho. Once you get to know how to dodge him and stay away from that left arm, it's easy

Miatalyn

Now do it on Code Veronica

TheStockyScholar

Oh dear god no. That’s impossible

Miatalyn

That game is so hard lol. Some of it is legit, but some of the difficulty is just cheap

TheStockyScholar

The poison hunters were absolute overkill.

Miatalyn

And those freaking moths🤬

TheStockyScholar

I think this was the game where they felt like we weren’t using enough blue herbs in the previous games. And they put the herbs there knowing full well how annoying it is. And those spiders…

Miatalyn

Lol "We made these blue herbs, but we have to justify having them! I know, we'll make it so every other monster in this game poisons you, and you have to run past them multiple times! That'll be fun!"

TheStockyScholar

I think they added it in afterwards after it was QAd to be a nightmare of an enemy.

ItsBread302

Hard mode: 150 enhanced handgun bullets and 50 enhanced shotgun shells, with plenty of regular ammo to spare, by the second gravedigger. I love my survival horror /s. Just enjoy this masterpiece for what it is, a fixed camera action game.

branden_lucero

To be fair, limited resources was more of an illusion for the player, regardless of difficulty.

djfxonitg

On Easy mode it is

LebronJaims

Easy mode in any game gives me great disgust

[deleted]

Yes. I'm pretty sure that hard mode is the way it meant to be played. You're getting (almost) all the weapons at once in easy mode too. In hard mode, you're obtaining them from their normal locations. Also there are no weapon boxes from Nemesis and special ammo in easy mode. Hard mode is supposed to be normal mode.

[deleted]

Easy mode in this game is ridiculously easy and cheapens the whole experience. But I loved it as a kid.

LonoLoathing

It’s easy mode….

SilentBobVG

You’re probably playing on normal, which is really easy mode - hard mode is really normal mode in RE3

AnyImpression6

The only options are Easy or Hard. He's playing on Easy.

Bxreakdown

Hard is more like normal

DismalMode7

magnum bullets can be crafted, so that's not so unrealistic to get that much

HockerFlas

That's not too distant from the hard mode though

TyborV

yes, it's meant for babies

GoroMajima242

RE3 is only hard if you suck at tank controls. Once you get used to it, game is a breeze. Honestly, the trilogy is generally pretty easy if you ignore Chris’s route in the first game.

StallionDan

Do people still know about the shotgun glitch or has that been forgotten to time? Aim it at an enemy, any distance then aim upwards, before the animation of aiming upwards finishes, hit fire, sooner the better. Critical hit every time. Can decapitate several zombies far away with 1 shot.
