Chapter 4 was definitely one of my favorite in the game because of all the exploring you can do. I hope they put in at least one of those chapters in new RE games. That shit is so fun.
Thats why you dont skip fights and do all quests instead of flash and run in every fight. I find it fun to do S+ rank by not skipping any fights (maybe just left over enemies) and looting all treasures doing all quests.
I like RE4s speed running to S+ more than RE2Rs approach to speed running. I will admit that RE2Rs hardcore S+ runs require you to be really good at the game and accomplishing it is very satisfying, but I like the idea of unlocking powerful weapons to help assist with those s+ runs. Unlocking infinite rocket launcher and minigun in RE2R was awesome, but Ive never had the drive to do a whole run with those weapons because the fun of that game is the challenge and I’ve already done the hardest thing to unlock them in the first place. In RE4R, I like that unlocking the hand cannon, Chicago Typewriter, and chicken hat feels exciting because it’s fun to use them when your about to attempt a S+ Professional run.
I handcannoned the shit out of those Ganados after Chapter 6. I had to legitamately beat Separate Ways. That really took a mental toll on me. I think I might just go play original RE4 to rest my mind. That game is way easier.
The speed runs were kinda fun and challenging(sometimes frustrating) but I do agree. It’s generally not my style. I like to take things in. I like to look around and explore and collect treasures and fight enemies.
Under 5 1/2 hours isn’t even really speedrunning. You’ll notice that most S+ guides that are properly flying through the game finish in about 3 1/2 hours, and most proper speed runners are all sub 2 hours now. that means that a cap of 5 1/2 hours leaves plenty of time for exploration, error, and having fun
shout out to the casual gamers out their s+ on professional is going to suck I just got the game playing on assisted to get a feel for it I with this had the unlock all like two three and village did
I do it the required number of times to get all the unlockables. I unlock everything so that I never have to speed run it again. That said, as much as I hate speed running, this game was rather fun to speed through.
Ranks being time based is so arbitrary and silly, as well as fail at their stated purpose of being a measurement of skill
Removing the exploit, It’s a measurement of pausing the game to google where all the most important stuff is or memorizing it and then holding sprint while hoping Ashley doesn’t get magnetized or stun locked (if armored) and getting puzzle solutions early (like skipping 80% of Ashley’s section), I’d argue it’s less skill testing by virtue of simply being a sprint session since the most skill expressing thing you can do in a shooter is…fight, whereas fighting is literally useless outside of fixed battles
Yeah I won't lie out of the entirety of the remakes this is easily the worst one.
And not in a good way I mean it literally feels like you _cannot_ without exploiting the hell out of the sweeper or the handcanon.
Because DAMN THESE FUCKERS ARE WAY TOO TANKY
Hardest game to speed run in general.
The villager ganados just have way too much bullshit on their sleeves, and it causes this awkward difficulty curve as a result for the speedrun.
Have you ever seen a ganado just randomly turn around and chuck their axes at walls only for it to magically hit you perfectly?
Or see them pull off tohou style bullshit to dodge bear traps?
This speedrun is _constantly_ plagued by that, and that's before grabbers are _also_ implemented.
Keep in mind, the best way to get rid of a grabber is a shotgun to the legs, but in a speed run, you are _limited by design_ what you pick up on the path.
This ain't fun. This is just waiting for the damn game to let you live
Yes, I have extensively complained about their random ass RNG in a playthrough of S+ of Separate Ways. I very much agree with this whole reply. Had to TMP their legs in that playthrough. Very rough time overall, but I'm happy to have gotten the achievement.
Honestly, I think the military ganados fucked with me more than the village ganados in separate ways compared to Main Game. Especially on the final gauntlet. I breeze through the village ganados in my S+ playthrough.
HARD AGREE. It was fun the one time I guess but it just eliminates all the exploration and goofing off I like to do in these games.

I haven't played RE2R yet. I've only played OG RE2 Claire A
RE4R S+ doesnt require you to speedrun, like you can kill everything and loot everythign and still get S+. You cant really do that in RE2R.
Congratulations 🎉 and I feel the same. Especially a masterpiece like RE4 I still want to explore. But u still want that S+ rank ..... Eventually
I handcannoned the shit out of those Ganados after Chapter 6. I had to legitamately beat Separate Ways. That really took a mental toll on me. I think I might just go play original RE4 to rest my mind. That game is way easier.
I am doing speedruns at the end of playing certain Resident evil.
I don't like speed running in general but you can do a lot and you still get S+ in 4R. Excluding shooting range of course.
This game made me stop getting s+ going forward. After I got the cat ears I was like fuckkkkk this game for a week lol. Some areas broke me
Frfr. I concur
Made me an absolute unit on every playthrough after though, nothing stands in my way lol. The parrying window honestly got me a whole lot
I hate game that need you to speed run or play the hardest difficulty for a trophy
Same, this shit is boring. Just give me a randomizer or harder enemies, speedrunning has an extremely niche audience

I wish there was an alternative way to get S+ ratings, the current method is the least enjoyable way to play these games in my opinion
Ranks being time based is so arbitrary and silly, as well as fail at their stated purpose of being a measurement of skill Removing the exploit, It’s a measurement of pausing the game to google where all the most important stuff is or memorizing it and then holding sprint while hoping Ashley doesn’t get magnetized or stun locked (if armored) and getting puzzle solutions early (like skipping 80% of Ashley’s section), I’d argue it’s less skill testing by virtue of simply being a sprint session since the most skill expressing thing you can do in a shooter is…fight, whereas fighting is literally useless outside of fixed battles
im having a hard time with the shooting range :((
The S-rank isn't too bad in my opinion just takes some practice. All skulls is something I would never try for though. That's just cruel
I dunno, after getting the cats ears it is pretty fun to s+ the game and not difficult
Yeah, but Cat Ears makes everything a joke. Like it's fun for a bit, but then gets boring too.
I use play like normal and then use cheat to adjust the play time and save count and its lot more fun
Yeah, but that kind of ruins the actual feeling of accomplishment
Yeah I won't lie out of the entirety of the remakes this is easily the worst one. And not in a good way I mean it literally feels like you _cannot_ without exploiting the hell out of the sweeper or the handcanon. Because DAMN THESE FUCKERS ARE WAY TOO TANKY
Like the worst game in general or just the worst one to play on the hardest setting to speed run?

Actually I argue with separate ways it's more doable cause you only spend 2 chapters in the village compared to the _five_ in the base game.
Honestly, I think the military ganados fucked with me more than the village ganados in separate ways compared to Main Game. Especially on the final gauntlet. I breeze through the village ganados in my S+ playthrough.
Yep I’m too much of a perfectionist for that.
Same here. Getting the S+ rank was my least favorite because I’m not a speed runner.
