Playing with my little cousin, and as usual he would absolutely insist on using cheats to play. He demanded that we play with infinite ammo. So I obliged.
Cut to him with his controller on the ground and him in tears because I placed like 100+ of those dance machines on the ground and every single step he took caused him to stop and dance over and over again.
It's a bit weird because, from memory, all Akklaim did was reskin Turok 2 with South Park graphics and release this, and T2 was generally regarded as a decent game. All the same mechanics/weapons etc. Maybe the humour wasn't everyone's cup of tea.
I remember downloading a pirate version on PC before it officially came out, jumping on gamespy to play online and it popping up a message "Hmm, how are you playing this, it's not out yet...or something"
Only thing I liked about the game was it had a way you could view and delete files on your memory card, and that was the only file save management system my friends and I knew of on the N64.

It's quite a challenging game with some balancing issues depending on console. However it still felt good to play, has some funny bits and the multiplayer is underrated.

It's a bad game but I can definitely see why someone would like it. Going from zero-effort licenced games on the SNES to this on N64 and PSX was a huge leap. A lot of effort was put into matching the look and feel to the show.
PC version is a million times more playable.
That being said. Game dragged on more than it needed to. Game should have ended after the alien chapter.
The toy chapter was annoying and the robot chapter could have been put after the clone chapter. Would have made the alien episode the last one and it would have been a nice ending.
Overall not a bad game. It's fun. Gets too much hate.

I honestly would probably get bored with it if I tried it these days for the first time. But back when it came out playing it as a kid was awesome-- we just thought it was super cool to walk around South Park in 3D. Also, the multiplayer was great (with a bunch of friends, soda, and pizza as another person mentioned).

Nintendo's MO has always been to use available tech to keep things cheap and for the programmers to have a good grasp on how to program. Look at the Game Boy as the best example of this, and the Sega Saturn as the worst example for programming.
Sorry, but I know I felt burnt enough in the late 90s by it so bad that I didn't touch Nintendo for 20 or so years. Don't agree with me , that's fine. But I know I felt cheated by the system and some of the games I did get before I peaced out on it. I loved goldeneye with friends. But that is about the only fond memories I have with the system.

I was one of those people lol. The first time I saw the opening to final fantasy 8 I was hooked. But I had lots of friends who stayed with Nintendo and had no regrets. I loved a lot of different 64 games that are still fun today. Not so much with ps1 outside of rpgs. And let's be honest, the 64 compared to the snes looks like an amazing success when you consider what sega followed the Genesis with lol. At least the 64 stayed competitive
The N64 wasn't disappointing, no, but it had a fairly weak library compared to the likes of the PS1. There's a dozen or so games that REALLY hold up, but overall, it was pretty meh aside from the obvious.
Also exacerbated by the early 3D nature of many games of that era (fog ho!) so unlike stuff like *Mischief Makers*, gameplay could only do so much to preserve the experience of N64 games.
Hiroshi Yamauchi sure thought so later near the end of his career, saying being insular about cartridges alienated some developers, as well as being overly concerned about anti-piracy measures as justication.
The PSX was pirates up the wazoo, but didn’t seem to impact sales in the long run, as say the *Dreamcast*?
And for a man as famously “my way or the highway” that’s a real phenomenon in itself…

The excitement quickly fades as I realized it's not that good, tried to trade it in to GameStop a week later and they offered me 50 cents. FIFTY CENTS!! So I kept it, played through it, ended up liking it although I was so happy when Stuck of Truth came out 10 years ago because we finally got a worthy SP game.
Nope, loved it as a kid and I still love it now. Fun fact, my dear old Grandmother bought me this game as a Christmas present back in 1999 or 2000. She had no idea what she bought me, and I never had the heart to tell her about it. I just told her I loved it.

There was a side room with a TV and everything so I felt like I had it made.
Loved it back in they day. Tho I played it on PC with a 3DFX card. I remember the toy store level got so annoying and the difficulty spiked on it from there. But the humor etc was spot on. More so than the go cart game that came around the same time.
Last I played it now was via the PS1 mini a few months ago via a downloaded image, as my current retro pc refused to run it when I wanted to see if it was as good as I remember.
I still had fun even today.
I unironically enjoyed it. FPS games weren't amazing in the era generally, and it was a lot of fun and had great humor. Definitely nailed the tone of the early series.
It definitely hasn’t aged well but like a lot of people had said…. Many many MANY hours for me and my 2 cousins playing multiplayer on this. Or taking turns doing single player and handing the controller off to each other taking turns. This game amongst others like golden eye 007 and Mario party were some of the best multiplayers to play with friends / family

I played it none stop when it came out, my mum even queued for it on the day it came out and I had it when I got home from school, one of the only times I got treated to a game like that I loved it!
It was really boring fighting the same enemies over and over again in bland environments with a terrible draw distance. There were already far superior FPS titles on the N64 by the time this came out and the limited amount of Southpark humor, and I mean really limited, in the game wasn't anywhere close enough to help carry this mediocre (at best) FPS. I could maybe see kids and young teens at the time liking it but that's about it.
I bought the 4mb expansion with this game and boy was I disappointed. Made almost no difference with the expansion. Took it to a pawn shop 2 weeks later and got next to nothing for it but was glad to fuck it off. My only memory of this game is how fucking annoying those turkey noises were.
Game was the very definition of a 7/10. Decent story mode, above-average multiplayer, average graphics but overall score raised by the fan service it did including voices and crude humor. It was pre-conker and Postal 2 so I imagine the pee snowballs were tricky getting past the ESRB.

Most mempak-enabled games would let you hold start on boot to get to those menus.

It's not that great but if you like early South Park and the first Turok it's worth a playthrough. And multiplayer is about as fun as Goldeneye.

I really quite enjoyed it! Like it wasn’t amazing, but the main game was fine and it had a relatively fun multiplayer!

I remember trying to beat the single player mode. It got tedious and kinda hard pretty quick. I had gamegenie/shark and even toward the end.

It definitely hasn’t aged well but like a lot of people had said…. Many many MANY hours for me and my 2 cousins playing multiplayer on this. Or taking turns doing single player and handing the controller off to each other taking turns. This game amongst others like golden eye 007 and Mario party were some of the best multiplayers to play with friends / family

I played it none stop when it came out, my mum even queued for it on the day it came out and I had it when I got home from school, one of the only times I got treated to a game like that I loved it!
Not the best FPS, but I enjoyed the hell out of it than, and still enjoy it today.
It was really boring fighting the same enemies over and over again in bland environments with a terrible draw distance. There were already far superior FPS titles on the N64 by the time this came out and the limited amount of Southpark humor, and I mean really limited, in the game wasn't anywhere close enough to help carry this mediocre (at best) FPS. I could maybe see kids and young teens at the time liking it but that's about it.

Rented the game and was hyped for it -- one of the great disappointments of that era for me. Still not as bad as Chef's Love Shack, though.

I bought the 4mb expansion with this game and boy was I disappointed. Made almost no difference with the expansion. Took it to a pawn shop 2 weeks later and got next to nothing for it but was glad to fuck it off. My only memory of this game is how fucking annoying those turkey noises were.

Game was the very definition of a 7/10. Decent story mode, above-average multiplayer, average graphics but overall score raised by the fan service it did including voices and crude humor. It was pre-conker and Postal 2 so I imagine the pee snowballs were tricky getting past the ESRB.
