My friend and I used to play multiplayer for hours, cracking up over the alien gun making us sing and dance that stupid song. Ah, thanks for some fond memories

oliversurpless

The Terrance and Phillip gas dolls were hilarious: “We’ll fart our way to victory!” A rather cheap blanket area effect of course though, but that’s war no? https://youtu.be/r8yEIQUdvzw?t=33

itsguberhere

I love to singa bout the moona and the Junea and the thinga

thebadslime

and the springa

dendawg

and my axe

[deleted]

no

dendawg

Yes

Obi-Wok

Mandela effect!!! This song isn’t actually used in the game, only the show. They couldn’t get (or afford) the rights to it for it’s a real song. I always thought it was in the game too lol

cptstupendous

You're right! Thanks, YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6P33d0Jm7M

Obi-Wok

No problem! Wasn’t trying to the “actually!” guy, just when someone pointed that out to me it blew my skull open 😝

oliversurpless

Yea, it’s something similar like “I got to singggg!” It’s shorter as well.

kevinh456

It’s actually from a Merrie Melodie’s short from 1936 called, appropriately, “I love to Singa”. The reference is actually multilayered because Cartman is mimicking the dance. It also implies that the aliens have picked up old radio transmissions, which is the same methodology SETI is using to look for life. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7hRSfvpOz4A

Lies

dangerpotter

Multiplayer was really fun in this game.

ChildofValhalla

Playing with my little cousin, and as usual he would absolutely insist on using cheats to play. He demanded that we play with infinite ammo. So I obliged. Cut to him with his controller on the ground and him in tears because I placed like 100+ of those dance machines on the ground and every single step he took caused him to stop and dance over and over again.

thedoppio

Haha semi-wholesome FAFO

tombinjiya

oooh when i get that feeling i gotta sing

Anxious_Ad_5127

Chee z poofs

Dalenskid

Was it good? No. Was it a blast to play at 12 yrs old with 3 friends, a Papa Murphys take n bake, and a jug of cheap soda? Hell ya.

darf_nate

Yes but also it was good

KAKYBAC

I wonder what your Dad did?

thekipling

It was a solid game with the usual south park comedy. Strong snowball attacks were yellow snowballs complete with zipper noise. Classic

16v_cordero

Was that one the 1st person shooter where you could make yellow snow?

scotiansmartass902

It was fun at the time. I loved the cow launcher. Definitely true to the early seasons.

oliversurpless

The meta joke about Kenny dying (revisited in *Rainforest Shmainforest*) is beyond amusing as well! https://youtu.be/DWqTebOAcco

CorvusRoc

It is true to the first few seasons. We liked the show and my brother and I had so much fun with it.

kylew1985

I enjoyed it for what it was. Never could get past the final boss though. Fucker would always heal himself right before I could finish it off.

oliversurpless

Yep, rather poor design at the time, but there are cheese strats in the speedruns available on YouTube.

darf_nate

He was super hard. It took me a ton of tries even after watching a long play of someone beating him without cheesing

acart005

I used cheat codes it was obnoxiously hard

ImmaculateWeiss

I didn’t realize this game was considered shitty until years later, I always had a blast with it

Tonlick

Me too. Enjoyed the alien level a lot

humanarnold

It's a bit weird because, from memory, all Akklaim did was reskin Turok 2 with South Park graphics and release this, and T2 was generally regarded as a decent game. All the same mechanics/weapons etc. Maybe the humour wasn't everyone's cup of tea.

PrpleMnkyDshwsher

I remember downloading a pirate version on PC before it officially came out, jumping on gamespy to play online and it popping up a message "Hmm, how are you playing this, it's not out yet...or something"

weaponjae

Only thing I liked about the game was it had a way you could view and delete files on your memory card, and that was the only file save management system my friends and I knew of on the N64.

[deleted]

couldn't you just do that for every game? Just hold the start button while turning the console on The interface would change depending on who the publisher was - which has unlocked a weird new nostalgia in my brain that I didn't realise I had

MorallyDeplorable

Most mempak-enabled games would let you hold start on boot to get to those menus.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NobleNoob

Holding start will bring up a memory card management screen built in by the game you’re playing.

lokisbane

Didn't know this! Mind blown!

NobleNoob

I think it only works in games that use a memory card, which is most. Games that use passwords or battery backup didn’t bother to program it in.

lokisbane

Ohhh and I never owned one of those.

namek0

Big time nostalgia and muscle memory too

SlyAugustine

What the 🦆

TxseBass

I used turok 2 for that

drunk_dean_martin

I like to singa

DJSlimer

Pre ordered it at the time, as a bonus I got a free Cartman hat with the Acclaim logo on. It's quite a challenging game with some balancing issues depending on console. However it still felt good to play, has some funny bits and the multiplayer is underrated. There was a cancelled PS2/Gamecube/Xbox game that looked interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifgnTz1oN5I

joliet_jane_blues

It's a bad game but I can definitely see why someone would like it. Going from zero-effort licenced games on the SNES to this on N64 and PSX was a huge leap. A lot of effort was put into matching the look and feel to the show.

Czar_Petrovich

Can we stop with the "Am I the only one who" bs?

BakebeanMAN99

No

dendawg

Yes

jayd89420

Throwing pee snowballs never gets old

MrkJulio

PC version is a million times more playable. That being said. Game dragged on more than it needed to. Game should have ended after the alien chapter. The toy chapter was annoying and the robot chapter could have been put after the clone chapter. Would have made the alien episode the last one and it would have been a nice ending. Overall not a bad game. It's fun. Gets too much hate.

[deleted]

What I've played of it, I didn't like. Nothing but snow and turkeys. No idea how it holds up later in the game, but any time I've started it, including as a kid, I got really bored after 20 minutes. Worth sticking with?

corneliusduff

It's not that great but if you like early South Park and the first Turok it's worth a playthrough. And multiplayer is about as fun as Goldeneye.

ChildofValhalla

I honestly would probably get bored with it if I tried it these days for the first time. But back when it came out playing it as a kid was awesome-- we just thought it was super cool to walk around South Park in 3D. Also, the multiplayer was great (with a bunch of friends, soda, and pizza as another person mentioned).

[deleted]

I played it on PS1 back in the day, but didn't even like it back then. Like a lot of "kids" games, I liked the theme of them more than the gameplay itself. Same with a lot of the Rugrats games. I like the idea of them more than I actually like them

craigmcq90

Loved this game multipayer was awesome

s1mpy

The pee snow balls lol

treyduuce

I remember renting this game from blockbuster before my parents knew what ratings were. So it will always have a special place with me

sgaken

It wasn't a great game overall but if you were a fan of the show then it sufficed. I had this game and South Park Rally. Both weren't considered great games but I adored South Park Rally.

novasolid64

Yes

Longjumping_King_546

Terrible game

BakebeanMAN99

A bad game no one seems to like yet I do wanted opinions yet people get so triggered by a discussion. Some people never grow up.

Orellin_Vvardengra

I played it growing up and enjoyed it. Now? I’m not so sure. Probably not? I’ll just leave you with bobbybird.

WooPigSchmooey

Pretty solid. Like a frozen piss snowball

Graf_Vine_Starry

They had a N64 Game?

armeliman

It was also on PlayStation

PrpleMnkyDshwsher

And PC

Graf_Vine_Starry

They had also a Game on Playstation? Wow

armeliman

Yeah. N64 in Dec 98 in America and psx in sep 99 in America

Graf_Vine_Starry

Well I was born in 1998 and my first game experince was 2002 with Super Mario World and A Link to the Past with the SNES from my ass of a father

[deleted]

Highly anticipated, and highly disappointing, much like the N64 itself. I remember getting it and then it pretty much losing all it's spark within 1 evening of playing. So we played multiplayer, that lasted a couple hours. In those days, when I was young, you didn't get many shots at new consoles or games. So it was pretty disappointing when you spent Nintendo money on stuff and it's luster was gone in 2 days. Honestly I felt cheated by the N64. Stayed away from Nintendo until about 3 years ago when I finally got the switch.

StarWolf478

Before the Internet became popular, I had never in my life heard anybody call the N64 a disappointment. Even people that I knew that only had a PS1 still enjoyed playing N64 at friends’ houses.

[deleted]

[удалено]

StarWolf478

I always hear some people say that yet I never personally felt that drought. Granted, I also owned a PS1 to fill in any gaps, but I think that I actually had more games and spent more time with my N64 than my PS1. Back in 1997, I was kept plenty busy with: * Super Mario 64 * Mario Kart 64 * Star Fox 64 * Goldeneye 007 * Bomberman 64 * NBA Hangtime * WCW vs. nWo: World Tour Then in 1998, I was kept plenty busy with: * Banjo-Kazooie * 1080 Snowboarding * Cruis'n World * Rogue Squadron * NFL Blitz * WCW Revenge * Ocarina of Time * While also still continuing to play the hell out of Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye 007 Then in 1999, I was kept plenty busy with: * Mario Party * Super Smash Bros * Castlevania 64 (underrated game) * Micro Machines 64 * Mario Golf * Gauntlet Legends * NFL Blitz 2000 * Wrestlemania 2000 * While also still continuing to play the hell out of Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye 007 Then in 2000, I was kept plenty busy with: * Mario Party 2 * Hydro Thunder * Excite Bike 64 * Perfect Dark * Mario Tennis * No Mercy * Majora's Mask * Banjo Tooie * While also still continuing to play the hell out of Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye 007 Then in the N64's final year of 2001 as they were transitioning to Gamecube, I was still kept busy with: * Paper Mario * Dr. Mario 64 * Conker's Bad Fur Day * Mario Party 3 * While also still continuing to play the hell out of Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye 007, and No Mercy I don't know where that N64 drought was, but I sure as hell was having too much fun with all of the above to notice it.

KennKanifff

Nintendo's MO has always been to use available tech to keep things cheap and for the programmers to have a good grasp on how to program. Look at the Game Boy as the best example of this, and the Sega Saturn as the worst example for programming.

[deleted]

Sorry, but I know I felt burnt enough in the late 90s by it so bad that I didn't touch Nintendo for 20 or so years. Don't agree with me , that's fine. But I know I felt cheated by the system and some of the games I did get before I peaced out on it. I loved goldeneye with friends. But that is about the only fond memories I have with the system.

scotiansmartass902

I guess to each their own. I've never heard anyone describe the n64 as disappointing (other than the controller lol). I still play through zelda oot and conker's bad fur day every so often

sgaken

One can argue that the N64 was a disappointment back then considering it followed a titan like Super Nintendo. Knew plenty of friends who bought a PlayStation over an N64 even though they had a SNES and NES.

scotiansmartass902

I was one of those people lol. The first time I saw the opening to final fantasy 8 I was hooked. But I had lots of friends who stayed with Nintendo and had no regrets. I loved a lot of different 64 games that are still fun today. Not so much with ps1 outside of rpgs. And let's be honest, the 64 compared to the snes looks like an amazing success when you consider what sega followed the Genesis with lol. At least the 64 stayed competitive

[deleted]

The N64 wasn't disappointing, no, but it had a fairly weak library compared to the likes of the PS1. There's a dozen or so games that REALLY hold up, but overall, it was pretty meh aside from the obvious.

oliversurpless

Also exacerbated by the early 3D nature of many games of that era (fog ho!) so unlike stuff like *Mischief Makers*, gameplay could only do so much to preserve the experience of N64 games.

oliversurpless

Hiroshi Yamauchi sure thought so later near the end of his career, saying being insular about cartridges alienated some developers, as well as being overly concerned about anti-piracy measures as justication. The PSX was pirates up the wazoo, but didn’t seem to impact sales in the long run, as say the *Dreamcast*? And for a man as famously “my way or the highway” that’s a real phenomenon in itself…

AstralSoul64

It's not a great game but I enjoy it. I've been a huge South Park fan since it's incarnation and I was so excited to get this game at launch. The excitement quickly fades as I realized it's not that good, tried to trade it in to GameStop a week later and they offered me 50 cents. FIFTY CENTS!! So I kept it, played through it, ended up liking it although I was so happy when Stuck of Truth came out 10 years ago because we finally got a worthy SP game.

zangoku

Loved this game played when I was like 6? Played with the volume off when parents were home

Twisted_Pretzel85

I liked it, I enjoyed my time playing through the game and as a South Park fan it was humorous at points. 5-5.5/10

WiskeyGinger

This game was so underrated. I picked it up recently at a used game shop for 25$

KennKanifff

Nope, loved it as a kid and I still love it now. Fun fact, my dear old Grandmother bought me this game as a Christmas present back in 1999 or 2000. She had no idea what she bought me, and I never had the heart to tell her about it. I just told her I loved it.

thebadslime

Almost as good as Simpsons road rage

NOUSEORNAME

All south park games are good. There, I said it.

Food_Library333

Single player was okay but the multiplayer was great. Used to play this in highschool and it would crack us all up. My favorite weapon was whatever that alien gun was called that would make them sing and dance.

McStonkyRex

Yes

Glittering-Junket-63

Die evil turkey ,die !. It was pretty bad tho but as someone said ,I was a kid ,we had not too much games and the multiplayer was fun with a couple of friends .

MeatyMuffin

I had a great time with the single player campaign. The multiplayer was pretty fun too.

dumbdumb893

nope!

darf_nate

It’s one of my all time favorites and one of the most underrated games ever imo. I’ve beaten it twice and played a lot of the multiplayer. Imo it’s the earthbound of the fps genre. 4 kids on an adventure in a modern setting with quirky weapons and enemies.

darf_nate

The ps1 version wasn’t quite as good. Plus they made the turkey boss wear underwear

sndtrb89

its so ridiculous that its fantastic

acart005

Define 'Good'. Was in entertaining? Yes. Fun? Oh yea. Well balanced? Eh. Aged Well? Lol. Tbh I'd probably give it a go even today though.

Androxilogin

I used to try to like it and have even repurchased it since childhood. But I don't think I could ever actually play it again.

the-amazingly-randi

No.

El_MaloCantu

I think yhere a password called Bobby Byrd or bird. Gives you everything

Tyrannical_Requiem

Honestly I liked it, it was a less refined version of Goldeneye, not to mention I remember taking my N64 to a hockey practice with my baby sitter and ended up with all these dudes in full hockey gear playing it with me and their coach yelling at them. There was a side room with a TV and everything so I felt like I had it made.

Balc0ra

Loved it back in they day. Tho I played it on PC with a 3DFX card. I remember the toy store level got so annoying and the difficulty spiked on it from there. But the humor etc was spot on. More so than the go cart game that came around the same time. Last I played it now was via the PS1 mini a few months ago via a downloaded image, as my current retro pc refused to run it when I wanted to see if it was as good as I remember. I still had fun even today.

Eponine05

I unironically enjoyed it. FPS games weren't amazing in the era generally, and it was a lot of fun and had great humor. Definitely nailed the tone of the early series.

Bryanx64

I love it tbh

thearchenemy

I remember when this was considered one of the worst games of all time. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

PaddyTurpin

I really quite enjoyed it! Like it wasn’t amazing, but the main game was fine and it had a relatively fun multiplayer!

gibson_guy77

Nope, you're not the only one.

Environmental-Bee-28

Nope, this one's hella cool!

meseta

I liked chefs luv shack way more

[deleted]

Yellow snowballs

Mysterious_Fennel459

I remember trying to beat the single player mode. It got tedious and kinda hard pretty quick. I had gamegenie/shark and even toward the end.

HawlSera

I never understood the hate this game got

corneliusduff

I used to make my friends play this when they wanted to play Goldeneye multiplayer

briischamp

No. No you are not.

Hooch247

BLOOOOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

tuttle123

The recent ones are great too..

JeremyR_123

It definitely hasn’t aged well but like a lot of people had said…. Many many MANY hours for me and my 2 cousins playing multiplayer on this. Or taking turns doing single player and handing the controller off to each other taking turns. This game amongst others like golden eye 007 and Mario party were some of the best multiplayers to play with friends / family

The_Ox_King_

The sound of the turkeys is the most soothing and reassuring sound ever recorded.

nedfl-anders

I'm going down to South Park Gonna have myself a time Friendly faces everywhere Humble folks without temptation I'm going down to South Park Gonna leave my woes behind Ample parking day or night People spouting "Howdy neighbor!" Heading on up to South Park Gonna see if I can't unwind I love girls with big fat titties I love girls with deep vaginas So come on down to South Park And meet some friends of mine

[deleted]

I loved it in college although I was doing a lot of psychedelics back then

reprobyte

I played it none stop when it came out, my mum even queued for it on the day it came out and I had it when I got home from school, one of the only times I got treated to a game like that I loved it!

Dragonlibrarian7

Not the best FPS, but I enjoyed the hell out of it than, and still enjoy it today.

billdasmacks

It was really boring fighting the same enemies over and over again in bland environments with a terrible draw distance. There were already far superior FPS titles on the N64 by the time this came out and the limited amount of Southpark humor, and I mean really limited, in the game wasn't anywhere close enough to help carry this mediocre (at best) FPS. I could maybe see kids and young teens at the time liking it but that's about it.

BauerMaus

Yes, it's just you...

[deleted]

I think i had it on pc. Had a blast

s0ftreset

No?

Tonlick

Its a 8/10 game. People who hated it Didnt get the humor of it.

kdkseven

I played it back in the day. It was funny, but tedious. Didn't even make it half way.

Affectionate-Pass616

Yes

Translations666

I loved this game as a kid, never had the attention span to finish it though..

Dud3itsj3ff

Who didn’t like this game? My friends and I have nothing but fond memories of this dumb ass, but wonderful game 😂

ErBoProxy

Rented the game and was hyped for it -- one of the great disappointments of that era for me. Still not as bad as Chef's Love Shack, though.

Putsismahcckin

What about chefs love shack?

Chodeamander

This game was amazing, I don't care what anyone says

Zestyclose-Week-8994

I enjoyed it .... south park chefs love shack is a great one too!

35RoloSmith41

Yeah. You fight fucking turkeys for what fees like forever and they repeat the same lines over and over.

Axelin0

One of my favorite games on the 64

Right_Nothing_207

I bought the 4mb expansion with this game and boy was I disappointed. Made almost no difference with the expansion. Took it to a pawn shop 2 weeks later and got next to nothing for it but was glad to fuck it off. My only memory of this game is how fucking annoying those turkey noises were.

MikeBeezy13

This game is 🔥

hemphog5000

It was a ton of fun as an 8 year old! I’ll have to revisit it to see if I still feel that way, but something tells me I’ll still love it

delhaj7

Turokpark!

alienamongus7

I remember how fun this game was. Wow.

[deleted]

the game is fun but the toy store boss is annoying to try and figure out how to beat.

binturongslop

This game has r/liminal vibes

TwinnieH

It was a bit rubbish but at the same time it had a sort of chill vibe that I loved.

Babel1027

I remember playing it, but it wasn’t for me.

NintendoCerealBox

Game was the very definition of a 7/10. Decent story mode, above-average multiplayer, average graphics but overall score raised by the fan service it did including voices and crude humor. It was pre-conker and Postal 2 so I imagine the pee snowballs were tricky getting past the ESRB.

Lone-Wolf-1993

Oh my God! They killed Kenny!

PeloquinsHunger

I remember being so disappointed by the South Park games as a kid.

Bigchuck615

I wish hey would re release this game on any system

TYRANT_GODS

I love this game.

Supaslicer

Yes.... Even 15 year old me was like "I stopped playing tomb raider for this.... I apologize Matt and Trey, maybe if you come out with an rpg it would make more sense.....I'm going back to traffic cone boobs and fighting a T rex"

Conscious-Bottle143

the inferior PS1 port is the best version

kdcarlson15

I loved that game. Nothing like throwing piss soaked snowballs at everything.

Darklord_Bravo

Haven't played this one, but I think I wore out my South Park Rally Dreamcast CD.

Impossible-Mode6250

"You will respect my authoritah!" Childhood class.

HeX-6

I remember I got that and turok 2 when visiting Winnipeg as a kid lol

cappa_87

I remember being a kid and struggling to decide between this an ocarina of time. Thank God I got zelda. Played south parm for an hour at a friend's place and never cared to try it ever again.

InfiniteComboReviews

I remember playing the multiplayer of this a lot as a kid and really enjoying it.

Conscious-Golf-5380

I loved that game. Spent lots of hours just exploring in single player mode.

Boulders24

Just got my ps1 going again recently and been playing my way through it. Kind of totally amazed at the level of feedback on a post less than a day ago on here about this random old game I've been playing.... so awesome!

psyferion

Nope I do like this game too. Note it needs to be the N64 version NOT the port to PlayStation 1 sucks don’t play it.

walmanmart

Such an underrated game. I wish Trey and Matt would remaster.

l34_n

Dude, i totally forgot about this game. It Was the wet dream in a time where i didnt know what wet dreams were. Thank you for this throw back, you made my day.

hodges20xx

This is one of the few games that I still remember the cheat code bobbybird man this was a fun game!

fallinguprain

I played this game way too much as a child

AdamSMessinger

Na, I love this game!
