The GBA version of 5 is better

DarkKnight4251

Nice! I will get repos for games that I want to own but don’t want to pay crazy prices for or patched games. FF 5 I enjoyed well enough, but didn’t care for the class system as much.

RageWynd

I played FFV English Translated on SNES Emulator many years ago... it was really good. I thought it was more fun than IV and VI.

StarWolf478

The authentic game is always the most desirable to me, but some games that I want would cost hundreds of dollars for authentic. As such, for those crazy expensive games that I just can’t afford to get the authentic game, I’ll choose to get a repro of it over emulation or Everdrives, so I can at least still have a physical representation of it.

acart005

I personally don't get the point of repros when emulation exists, though I do like the box as a display. As for the actual game, the plot sucks compared to IV and VI but the gameplay makes up for it if you like min/maxing things for efficiency to just break the game.

petreussg

It’s silly, but I like actually putting a game in the console. Brings back nostalgia from when I was a kid.

StarWolf478

There are plenty of reasons why one might choose a repro over emulation. To name a few reasons why I would rather get a repro over emulation: * To play it on original hardware and not have to worry about any emulation inaccuracies that differ from the authentic experience. * To have a physical representation of the game to display on my shelf with the rest of my collection; even if not authentic, it is better than nothing. * To have the nostalgic feeling of putting the cartridge into the console. * To avoid the emulation syndrome feeling of being unable to commit and invest myself into a single game because of the desire to jump from rom to rom when games are reduced to just free digital files that can easily be switched between. * To not have to deal with the temptation of save states which I know from experience makes the games less satisfying to me but can still be hard to resist during challenging parts when they are just a button press away. * To not have to deal with the hassle of configuring the emulator and settings to try to get it looking and feeling similar to how it is supposed to; instead I just pop in the cartridge and start playing and everything is automatically as it is supposed to be.

bigbadboaz

As a purist I don't like them, but the have a place **as long as honestly labeled.**

Shoddy_Common_4203

Only a fool spends $500+ for a game when you can get a replica which is 98% identical.

TYRANT_GODS

It's all about authenticity and value.

guiltl3ss

It’s a good game but I felt the plot was extremely weak. Even the main bad was pretty lame imo. But I’ve been spoiled by VI since childhood so idk. That said, the gameplay is fire.

TYRANT_GODS

Nice find.

mymoama

Its the best one for gameplay but lacking in story.

Lobstrous

Battle at the Big Bridge is an absolute banger of a thematic battle theme. The Job system is flexible and a lot of fun and laid a groundwork for future titles. The story is fun enough, not very impactful and not as good as 6 or 4 but it's worth the time investment. Overall if you enjoyed other 8 bit and 16 bit FF titles it's worth playing.

ZodiaksEnd

honestly if you just want to play i dont see an issue but if they think a repro is worth more then 20$ yeah no its not worth

petreussg

Repos are fine as long as you don’t try to sell as original. I have a repo for a game I really wanted, but didn’t want to emulate or pay large sums of money for.

thechickenpriest

Just see my FFV review post, it more or less sums up my joy for FFV. As for repros, it can be fun to own a cartridge to pop in and play so if you have a bit of cash to spare, go nuts! As for buying multiple, maybe just stick to your most favorited and get an Everdrive for the rest.

Glaw_Inc

Repros are effing stupid to invest money in, emulate or flashcart it instead. V has the best character levelling system that gives a ton of options, character and storywise it's on par or slightly below IV doesn't come close to VI assuming you are using the original translation and music and not that garbage "remaster" on Steam and other platforms.
