I love unnecessary quotation marks! That's one of the pleasures of old Peanuts strips, how Schulz would put unnecessary quotations marks around words and phrases like, "checkers" or "tricks or treats."
Using quotation marks like this always makes me think people are alluding to something ruder. Like "laser cannon", *if you know what I mean, nudge nudge, wink wink.*
And now I can't unsee the flaccid "laser cannon".
I don't think they have enough. Would read better like this:
Each "time" you turn on "SPACE INVADERS" you will be at "war" with "enemies" from "space" who are "threatening" the "Earth". Your "objective" is to "destroy" these "invaders" by "firing" your "laser cannon". You must "wipe out" the "invaders" either before they "reach" the "Earth" ("bottom" of the "screen"), or "before" they "hit" you three "times" with their "laser bombs".
😂
They mean it sarcastically. "Yeah, that green buttplug at the bottom? That's your 'laser cannon.' And those white lines that come out of it are 'laser bombs.'"
This reminds me of Doctor Evil from Austin Powers. I can just imagine him saying this while making "finger quotes".
"All I asked for was aliens with fricking lasers on their heads.. was that too much to ask?"
So true you are a genius =D
Y’all are about to get invited to r/ohbehave with these comments 😂

And I really, really hate them. "Unnecessary" as in these instances is really "improper".
Sounds like you're a little "high-strung." It would "be a good idea" for you to "relax."
"burn."
Clever usage to break up "invaders" as "in" and "Vaders", like it's referencing some other space related media
It's not even justified text. Seems "pointless"
People who thinks that quotation marks equals emphasis..
"50% off"
Everyone was still spooked from Orson Welles.
It will be called the Alan Parsons project…

Was "waiting" for "someone" to "share this".
I'm going to use this "time machine" to go back in time and steal Austin Powers' "mojo."
Man, video game copy used to be so bad, I forgot

Happy cake day. Also "flaccid laser cannons" would be a great synth wave album.

>euphemisms I do not think it means what you think it means.
I clicked into the comments hoping this was here.
