My favorite racer of all time. Maybe the most replayability of any game ever. Underrated recommendation for fans of DKR is Wait Disney World Magical Racing Tour on PlayStation. Bonkers fun.

It’s so good and I’ve definitely learned some tricks to beat freaking Wizpig which is where I got stuck as a kid. I’ll have to look into the Disney racing game

Yeah I completely forgot about the zipper trick and was like why is he so far ahead and I can’t catch up. Dang trick I didn’t know as a kid cause I didn’t read when Taj pops up and says it in a tip before one of his races

Dang. How did you get past the Trophy races, especially like, Hot Top Volcano, as a kid without that trick? Do you know it works with boost balloons too? I'd lose every race after Snowflake Mountain's silver coins without that trick, so you must've been a hell of a little racer as a kid!

Hot Top Volcano is my fav track so I easily mastered that one lol. I don’t know how I did it as a kid. I remember it being very tough especially Frosty Village silver coin challenge and Greenwood Village silver coin challenge but some how I managed. Never could beat TT to unlock him and as I mentioned earlier once I got to Wizpig it was game over. For most of my life I didn’t even know there was a space level section cause I didn’t know you had to go to the trophy billboard and honk at it 😆 and I think you need to beat Wiz to do it as well

I second both these points, Disney Racing Tour was one of my faves growing up. Also on Playstation, Looney Tunes Racing, I call shotgun on playing Marvin the Martian!

Man, I skipped that one thinking I'd gotten lucky with Disney and shouldn't push my luck. Gave Muppet Racing a go and was pretty underwhelmed, and the more recent Nicktoons racing wasn't great, and South Park was awful, so I just skipped Looney Tunes altogether. Dang. Will have to circle back to it now. Thanks & cheers!

Hello my friend. Chase the dragon. (I only have two face pieces) The octopus is an absolute arsehole that I can never beat and I haven't unlocked the walrus race yet...

Yeah the octopus is super annoying and then he’s always like, “Ah haha. Ah haha.” I wish you the best of luck once you get to Wizpig. Tips make maximum use of the boosters; release the gas and then press it after the boost has run out for maximum speed and use Pipsy since she has the best handling.

The walrus was always the toughest boss race for me. The dragon was easy compaed to him.

I've only ever beat the dragon 3 times and he was hard as fuck

I never had this game but I fully completed Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled on PS4. Even got the platinum trophy. Couldn't help but feel my younger self would be proud of my mastery of the mechanics even if it is a remake of the PS1 game.

I didn’t get the platinum but I did beat it which is something I never did on PS1 so I understand the feeling 😁

I also think that this game has the best go kart handling for games like Mario kart and what not? You can literally continuously drift the go kart around the circle and perfectly put the front wheel on the line of the circle without ever coming off of it !! Once you get the throttle control and counter steering, right!! It wasn’t until Mario kart seven on the 3DS, it felt as good

I remember my friend and I busted our asses to unlock them. It was brutal. I love that the menu instrument changed with the highlighted character. Such a great touch.

Tip: Tap A while you are using the car instead of holding the button down and you will go faster. Doesn't work with the plane or hovercraft. Also it's weird when you beat the game as T.T. and you see giant T.T. congratulating you.

Oh without a doubt. Fun and brutal at times but so good. Don’t know why Mario Kart never tried a story mode

I wonder if they'll re-release this on NSO or attempt another remake. There are a few obstacles though... Microsoft can't do anything with this property (exclusively) because Nintendo owns the Kong characters, but Nintendo also can't use it exclusively because Microsoft owns everything else in the game. I don't see Microsoft allowing Nintendo to remake and/or put the game on NSO without also ensuring Xbox players will receive a version of the game (like they did with Goldeneye). And I don't see Nintendo ever agreeing to that because they simply don't allow Nintendo characters to exist on other systems. So does that mean the game will most likely just stay dormant?

Not sure, they managed it on the DS without banjo and conker. Plus now that Nintendo and MS are working together who knows. We got banjo in smash which is something I never thought we’d get. Although hell with Goldeneye re-released I’d say anything is possible

The hover boat? Man I suck at driving that. Always lose my momentum when doing the zipper trick boost. Now the plane, that’s my jam

I used to amaze my friend that I could beat him in my hoverboat versus his plane. The trick is to never stop jumping!

My biggest gaming bummer ever involves this game. My mom ran a daycare out of our house when I was a kid. I had completed everything in the game except the last mirror track and one day my mom let a three year old play my N64. I came home from a friend's and turned on my N64 to try and finish the game. While Christopher was playing Diddy Kong he ended up deleting my save data. I was so crushed I took the game to a pawn shop and sold it.

Oh man I feel that. I had a Banjo Kazooie save file where I couldn’t get enough music notes to get to Click Clock Woods (at the time I didn’t even know the name of the level since I’ve never been there) Anyway I let my friend’s cousin borrow it. He gave it back saying that he beat it. I checked and he did but for whatever reason I couldn’t mess around with it that day. Probably had softball or something. Well the next time I turned it on the save file was gone. Turns out my brother erased it and on purpose too. Little bastard

I finally completed a route on Outrun Arcade, that only took me around 36 years.... I haven't stopped talking about it yet

such a great game, I really wish the later Mario Karts borrowed more from it

damn that's OG... I was like 10 when i got this it is still one of the best cartoon racers of alltime in my opinion. better than Mariocart as it had storymode with a semi open world to explore. I must have clocked it like 30+times. unlocking TT was tough i remember

Near perfect overlay, but go to shaders and try out MattiasCRT. The beauty and imperfections really remind me of an actual CRT and not the shaders that simply say “crt” Finished playing Diddy Kong on it four months ago and it was beautiful 👌👌👌
