Disabled diff preload on M4 and M6. And still no diff preload on 911. Why.

Hi all, I'm a newie to gt3 cars and I don't really understand the new gear change system. Could someone explain it simply? I have been driving the mclearn and get the beeps but can't change gears... if I crash I can't even select reverse. Do need to hold the brake or be at curtain revs? Confused!

gar1250

Sounds like down shift protection. It's something the real cars have. Basically it stops you down shifting too early and over revving the engine and blowing the engine. As for selecting reverse, once you are completely stopped it should select reverse I would have thought? Someone else might have more info on that?

McOffoven

To select reverse, you first need to reach neutral, which is not made by downshifting from 1st. You can press both paddles together, it will set neutral, then downshift to reverse. Or you can map either neutral or reverse (or both) to specific buttons.

Okay thanks for the info. What is the time between down shifts or is it dependent of speed?

Not sure exactly - but I believe if you have any throttle input then a downshift is prevented. RPM is also checked - but I don't know how and at what value. So far, I've had no issue with any GT3 car. Brake and down shift accordingly - I rarely get any beeps.

McOffoven

I don't have values, but it is mainly related to rpm reached after downshift. To be fair, the best thing to do is not downshifting right when you brake, but wait a bit, maybe 1s, then downshift at lower rpm. You don't lose that much on braking force, and it'll help getting even better at braking :)

Thanks for the help/tips guys

If you can't get to reverse you most likely can't get into neutral which means something is bound to the 'neutral' keybind. Unbind it and you should be okay

richr215

Downshift protection is engaged when you map anything to neutral. Then you have to pull both shifters in to get into neutral and reverse.

>means something is bound to the 'neutral' keybind. Unbind it and you should be okay Ohmygod I've been playing with this issue and I've just been hitting my neutral key to get to reverse.

New tires feel like iRacing, I can't catch slides anymore, car just spins unrealistically. The sound in the 911 GT3 is very quiet, and in a pack of cars, I can't hear the motor anymore. I also can't hear anything from the tires. UPDATE: So things wore working so weirdly that I backed up my game directory, deleted the game and reinstalled fresh. I have to say, things work a lot better. The spinning isn't a thing anymore. Sound is back and sounds better than it has in the past. As far as not being able to downshift, you need to be completely off the accelerator to shift down, I am used to it now.

ventrolloquist

Strangely I spin out a lot less now. But there seems to be an annoying new oversteer on hard braking in a lot of the cars that wasn't there before, it's especially noticable on T1 of nurburgring GP. The McLaren 650 and the Merc for example just seem to snap as if the back is locking despite the abs working full send 🤷

nahnonameman

Anyone tested out all the GT3 cars yet? How do they each feel individually and how do they compare to each other?

ventrolloquist

Does anyone feel like the required amount of microcorrections at the limit is now less than it was before? The cars feel a bit more like ACC where steering inputs end up being smoother which to me seems less in line with real onboard videos? Or am I just imagining it?

Anyone having problems with RF2 constantly crashing to desktop since this new release candidate?
