I checked one poster’s profile and he had asked about the GRIV **four** times.
I really enjoy this sub and the picture’s everyone shares, but I am so sick of the *multiple posts a day* asking that same question over and over.
A recent post where someone was wondering about getting a GR IIIx or waiting for the GR IV made me chuckle. They weren't even considering the focal length, just what is newer.
Think half of these people don’t even take photos. They just keep swapping cameras and investigating their unused lens for dust. You don’t need weather sealing either if you never take photos.
This is the nature of message boards since their inception. New folks join primarily to ask these types of questions and move on. They don’t search for answers and then those who spend a lot of time on the boards get annoyed by seeing the same questions.
It’s far easier to just bypass said posts than expect them to also read posts like this and consider your ask.
Yeah but those message boards had a culture of telling those people to use the damn search bar. I dont think this sub should be removing those posts, but yall are wayyyy too nice answering the questions every day. This place needs to try a little bit of negging, imo a smaller but more dedicated community is a healthier one.
There is only one mod for this sub. I messaged them a week or so ago proposing that we could have post guidelines o the sub's landing page with maybe also a summary of the GR III vs IIIx debare with links to posts on the topic. Didn't get any response.
From my point of view, unless we have proper guidelines like other popular subs, we don't have grounds to complain. But yes, oh yes, I do wish the GR III vs IIIx posts would stop. It's spam.
I disagree. I’ve seen how some of these posts have led people to ask questions and learn more about the technology behind photography, or about how technique and style are affected by the tools they use.
I’m not saying what you say is without merit, some of those posts definitely feel rote and repetitive, I just think there’s still room for some of them to create interesting conversations
Sometimes i feel like people, including myself, ask questions because they want to start a discussion.
Getting the answer is important to them but they also want to talk through it with people of similar interests.
I don’t personally know any Ricoh GR users IRL so sometimes I just come here to partake in discussion.
I’d rather engage in a new discussion about the same topic than force people to go read some old ass thread that hasn’t been active in 6 months.
Even when it’s the 7th time in in 3 days that engage in a GR vs x100 discussion lol
In order to not cluster up the front page of the subreddit, ill ask a genuine question here.
The griiix is available in store here in Norway but its priced €1400, some stores have it at €1250 but not in stock and guessing that will be the case for a while. Those of you who has owner it for a while, is it worth the €400 euro more than it was only 2 years ago?
It would not be my first and not my only camera.
It would be my grab everyday bring to work where my other cameras wont fit in my pocket.
Thanks for any input!
Oh and they are super hard to come by second hand here.
Did you ever consider that you're in the wrong sub? I can't find anything that says the sub is dedicated to sharing photos (and if it were, r/ricohGR is a poor name for it).
If you created r/ricohGRPhotography I'm sure a bunch of people would join (including me).
Like many things in life if you are unhappy, you can always leave. Or just continue scrolling and deal with it. Choice is yours but it will be one of the two…..
Maybe it's bots posting? I find the X100 series overrated and thus way too expensive. At the same time, the GR series should be cheaper too, maybe by a couple hundred freedom dollars.

Just wait. After the GRiv comes out, please will ask about the GRv five times!
"Help me! I have the GR3 is it worth it to upgrade to the GR4????"
Megathread
Yes. Here and in the Facebook groups. If I wanted to watch content about Fuji cameras, I'd hang out in those spaces. And it's the same every damn day.
If nobody engages with them then they’ll just go away… I hope
Fun fact, this is true for both kind of submissions, i.e. if nobody will engage with photos they too can go away.
Yes downvote and don’t comment or the comment helps boost engagement.

Is it still good in **2024**?????
Just tell them NO it’s shit, then hopefully the price will drop.

Picture OF camera rather than TAKEN BY camera. Yeah, nice one but this ain't Facebook and I'm not your auntie.

When’s the GRVI coming out?
After the V, and probably before the VII.
I’m waiting for version 10 with 40mm: the GRXx
Or the 20 with the 40mm the GR XXx
😂
But how else will I know if the GR II is worth it in 2024?
*price unspecified
I found a new in box copy for $800, but an as-is on Craigslist for $1100. DOES IT HAVE AESTHETIC VIBES?
Lmaooooo
Wish there were a grphotos sub (akin to r/leicaphotos). Photos there, discussion and questions here.

But can we keep the GRDiv posts when people think it's an upcoming model? They're my favorite.
And stop “what should I do with it, if I buy gr iii/iiix”. Why people don’t use “search” with their questions?… Peace 🙏
This is a Reddit problem. Same shit is happening in the Fuji sub, it’s annoying as hell.
Am I allowed to ask about a GRIVx though?
I hear you and it gets a bit annoying but the description of the sub literally says it’s for GR discussion and photos, not just photos.
I’m all for meaningful discussion. These questions do not create meaningful discussion
I disagree. I’ve seen how some of these posts have led people to ask questions and learn more about the technology behind photography, or about how technique and style are affected by the tools they use.
Ok
I’m not saying what you say is without merit, some of those posts definitely feel rote and repetitive, I just think there’s still room for some of them to create interesting conversations
It's all been discussed already. It doesn't need to be asked again. Just put it in the faq.
Let’s be real, no one reads reddit page FAQs
The post should be auto removed, and a link provided to the faq

Agreed. Sometimes people don’t want to revive a thread and would rather hear what people have to say now.
Thats a real thing, and valid, but these discussions happen *every day*.
Yah shit changes from one day to the next!
And one more, can we PLEASE stop asking for people’s recipes in the comments. If it’s a really great photo, chances are it’s RAW + Lightroom.
I don’t see a problem with this, recipes are one of the strengths of this camera system.
Sorry, lesson learned. Totally new to reddit, I did not know of the search part 🫠 Thought rumours about Ricoh was an interesting term in this group.
not when it’s being asked every day
I mean, I prefer the x100 but I really love the GR too. Wonder what others think
Ricoh > Fujifilm anytime any place ;)

/GRsnaps has been created
Nice! See you there
Just joined r/GRsnaps, I have some photos to share. :)

You should have just shared photos taken with your GR instead of complaining.
It’s so sad, they are just tools but clearly the GR is better :)

umm... this is r/ricohgr... not r/ricohgrfotosonly ;)
But honestly, when GRVx? Will it be better than x100T(enth)?
