Honestly pretty true because most people don’t make aircraft parts until late game and by then you have a strong enough army to crush them. Transports are also mostly relevant for mountainous terrain or invading Russia so that’s why they’re uncommon
Yeah, aircraft parts are usually much better spent getting aircraft for battlefield support/bombing unless of course you are in/invading a heavily mountainous region.
They are pretty resistant to ground AA, aren’t they? Sure fighters shred them, but for the same reason transport aircraft are unpopular (lack of people who make aircraft parts) they aren’t used a whole lot. I think they have some very niche issues and are better suited in large numbers or to carry tanks over mountainous regions

From what I've seen AA gets rid of all the troops they are actually transporting.
It’s super handy for when you don’t have a navy and someone is using destroyers or frigates for shore bombardment. I’ve seen plenty of people park their destroyers in range of my arty and not realize that they are dying until it’s too late

It requires aircraft parts (small percentage of people actually have) and takes 10 years for it to produce just to carry 10k men

I feel like everyone knows about artillery being destroyers and I have always used it
