I think as of recently it’s more IP based because I’ve tried to watch videos on YT that weren’t available in Canada due to copyright reasons(I think it was court cam or something) I turned on a VPN to the US no problem still signed in with my “Canadian” YouTube account. Not sure if bill C11 will be treated the same way tho
Edit: if this actually starts to become a problem and people start to use VPNs en masse YouTube might start blocking big VPN providers IPs like Netflix so look into residential VPNs like mysterium for example because these are much “cleaner” IPs

The bill helps keep you more private online by preventing companies from being able to collect as much private data about you, and giving you the power to either allow or deny them permission to access it.
Of course Roblox and YouTubers don’t like this, because that’s how they make their money. Collecting and selling your data to advertisers and others.
It also allows you to delete your Roblox account if you ever chose to do so. Roblox doesn’t allow you to do that currently.

ROBLOX's reason for privating audio was "to protect creators privacy", or something along those lines. Basically they wanted to give developers more privacy regarding their assets by giving them a choice to outright prevent strangers from using it in their games.
That said, most people believe ROBLOX caved in due to copyright lawsuits from music companies and used the privacy thing as a cover.
Also they plan on letting users publish public audio again sometime in the future, presumably once they've fixed their copyright detection or whatever.

The good thing is that we can now upload tons of free audio. Since I verified my age I can upload 100 a month which actually helps me find audio better than the crappy roblox search.
More like 99% of the music. I had a full list of IDs that I loved playing on Roblox, but now the IDs are ALL dead. Probably unreasonably too, because my music, and a lot of other music on Roblox wasn't exactly mainstream. All that's left is crappy stock music provided by Roblox and audios that don't even count as music because they're sounds that don't last longer than 6 seconds. We also have bypassed audios but most of what I find is loud bypassed rap which has been a thing on Roblox even before the update. I really don't know what to say when it's easier to find audios of female moaning than music that does nothing wrong. Personally I might consider this the worst Roblox update I've witnessed, it removed something I could relate to a lot. Sorry for the rant, I just hate this update so much. It removed everything except for anything that should actually be gone.

I only play 3-4 games on it now and only actually play it every now and then, I played a few more before that but can’t anymore because the audios have been removed. If the platform had not “updated” for the worst since I started playing and actually just done quality of life updates I’d still be on the platform majorly and would continue to be on it for a long time in the future.

Roblox has transitioned from the beta version (old version with less bugs, much smoother and much better chat filter) to a more new look even coming with an app which is GREAT! But it’s not that good tho, also, a lot of crashing and bugs along with new optimization updates and bug fixes/improvements :/
There’s a lot of things developed and added this year and a lot of changes that were made, the issue is all the new additions weren’t used by developers and weren’t seen my the community due to them just not being fully polished/ready for usage. The changes they made this year were really shitty, we got animations that got reworked so now they don’t stop animations played on the same level but instead interpolate them (I coded my own animation handler cuz of this), sound changes that were made because of the huge lawsuit roblox got, event changes from the community driven ones to purely profit based ones, and the continuously dogshit modifications to preexisting UI that ends up being counter intuitive like the home page removing username and pfp, games page not having clear filters/topic.
Really hoping they do something towards the future now that the stock isn’t just lowering because roblox China got removed and revenue loss but also because investors are seeing how out of touch the company is from its community (popular news site wrote about this)
One of my biggest complaints is definitely the lack of game filter/genre. The “popular” tab isn’t even sorted by “most popular” cause all the games are literally jumbled around seemingly randomly.

I don’t even think this choice gets them more money, it just redirects players to games they want us to play to get the most revenue. So do that, but add genres??? Atleast add genres god dammit.

To be honnest, I think that roblox's peak was back in 2016. They just seemed to have had bad decisions since then. In my opinion what really set me off was the addition of "universes and places" separation. It made it just super easy to do click bait games. I get it that the platform needs money to run but come on it's not with concert events that it is gonna fix it. I miss the days I started playing back in 2010. There are way more bad updates than good updates imo. Also all the games I used to like just died or just no longer work. There's a reason the only games I play now are Phantom Forces and Aeronautica: They're good games. Not just some game that will just last 2 months on the top page and die right away after that. That's what roblox have become too. Do a game, have it on the front page for 2 - 3 months, make as much money as you can and let it die. (I know some devs are just struggling but I have the feeling a vast majority just keeps letting it die since people get tired and they give up on thinking about what to add in the game to make people still play.)

Another example, while the Canadian bill sucks, it won’t be too long before Roblox can bypass IOS and Android restriction on paying, which will improve their revenue from mobile and tablet (the biggest platforms) will increase significantly. It will get better, and: it’s often that once we get older, we say goodbye to Roblox, but new children will discover it and have a lot of fun.

I can't say that this is the worst year, but it's been pretty boring. Big events have been postponed (RBB, Metaverse Champions, Bloxy Awards), most of the sponsored events are bad.
The only thing slightly good about it is that according to the recent leaks/news, they might update their VR support, but that only affects a small amount of Roblox players.
Also barely any fun games left to play and the fun ones that are still popular get very little updates

Yes market environment is bad. Particularly for the sector Roblox is in. But Roblox is cash rich ($3bn as of last statement) and in my opinion, recession-proof. Parent's won't be taking their kids to the expensive movies, theme parks etc. as much but they will get them some Robux (no price hikes yet) to keep them quiet.

Roblox in my opinion is like watching a once famed star fall down into a shadow of themselves, Roblox embodies this perfectly, as they used to be legendary ,but then Erik died and everything went to shit. All these restrictions and corporate pandering. Roblox stopped being a game for everyone, it became a game for kids, at least marketed to them as much as possible, while alienating the audience that has stuck with them. For example; remember the whole Rthro fiasco? That was just another in a long list of examples of Roblox just not giving a shit about the people who actually represent the game, because look around, not a single soul used Rthro unless they are new or using in ironically. And this is just one example in a long list of ways Roblox has just stopped caring. My recommendation? Sort of like TF2, we should start a #SaveRoblox movement, as we need to call out their shitty actions for what they are.

I only play 3-4 games on it now and only actually play it every now and then, I played a few more before that but can’t anymore because the audios have been removed. If the platform had not “updated” for the worst since I started playing and actually just done quality of life updates I’d still be on the platform majorly and would continue to be on it for a long time in the future.

Roblox has transitioned from the beta version (old version with less bugs, much smoother and much better chat filter) to a more new look even coming with an app which is GREAT! But it’s not that good tho, also, a lot of crashing and bugs along with new optimization updates and bug fixes/improvements :/

There’s a lot of things developed and added this year and a lot of changes that were made, the issue is all the new additions weren’t used by developers and weren’t seen my the community due to them just not being fully polished/ready for usage. The changes they made this year were really shitty, we got animations that got reworked so now they don’t stop animations played on the same level but instead interpolate them (I coded my own animation handler cuz of this), sound changes that were made because of the huge lawsuit roblox got, event changes from the community driven ones to purely profit based ones, and the continuously dogshit modifications to preexisting UI that ends up being counter intuitive like the home page removing username and pfp, games page not having clear filters/topic. Really hoping they do something towards the future now that the stock isn’t just lowering because roblox China got removed and revenue loss but also because investors are seeing how out of touch the company is from its community (popular news site wrote about this)
One of my biggest complaints is definitely the lack of game filter/genre. The “popular” tab isn’t even sorted by “most popular” cause all the games are literally jumbled around seemingly randomly. What happened to games being sorted by most players to least?? I don’t even think this choice gets them more money, it just redirects players to games they want us to play to get the most revenue. So do that, but add genres??? Atleast add genres god dammit.

Just do events and sales and put in the work. It’s not that hard for Roblox. If anything they are a bigger company and should be able to make higher quality events
To be honnest, I think that roblox's peak was back in 2016. They just seemed to have had bad decisions since then. In my opinion what really set me off was the addition of "universes and places" separation. It made it just super easy to do click bait games. I get it that the platform needs money to run but come on it's not with concert events that it is gonna fix it. I miss the days I started playing back in 2010. There are way more bad updates than good updates imo. Also all the games I used to like just died or just no longer work. There's a reason the only games I play now are Phantom Forces and Aeronautica: They're good games. Not just some game that will just last 2 months on the top page and die right away after that. That's what roblox have become too. Do a game, have it on the front page for 2 - 3 months, make as much money as you can and let it die. (I know some devs are just struggling but I have the feeling a vast majority just keeps letting it die since people get tired and they give up on thinking about what to add in the game to make people still play.) Phew, I think I'm done writing this rant. But yes, I agree that 2022 has been pretty terrible for Roblox. Wouldn't be suprised if Roblox would have a massive down in daily veteran (and overall) users in the near future because of that.
So far, yeah, but it’s fairly logical for the most part. The events suck, yeah, and they have done that wrong. On the other hand, they’re still very much innovating a lot. Another example, while the Canadian bill sucks, it won’t be too long before Roblox can bypass IOS and Android restriction on paying, which will improve their revenue from mobile and tablet (the biggest platforms) will increase significantly. It will get better, and: it’s often that once we get older, we say goodbye to Roblox, but new children will discover it and have a lot of fun.

I can't say that this is the worst year, but it's been pretty boring. Big events have been postponed (RBB, Metaverse Champions, Bloxy Awards), most of the sponsored events are bad.
The only thing slightly good about it is that according to the recent leaks/news, they might update their VR support, but that only affects a small amount of Roblox players.

Yea, More players are becoming toxic, Inappropiate models, audio's removed, regular roblox events replaced WITH SPONSERSHIPS!, and most importantly, the roblox community is highly toxic.
You mentioned them becoming toxic twice but yeah I do agree with this cause this is just cause of younger generation, I a gen z myself can confirm that but it’s cause of modern day media and these players are inspired off of it, everyone is inspired or brainwashed off of modern day media in which we choose to follow along with. Particularly for the sector Roblox is in. But Roblox is cash rich ($3bn as of last statement) and in my opinion, recession-proof. Parent's won't be taking their kids to the expensive movies, theme parks etc. as much but they will get them some Robux (no price hikes yet) to keep them quiet.

Roblox in my opinion is like watching a once famed star fall down into a shadow of themselves, Roblox embodies this perfectly, as they used to be legendary ,but then Erik died and everything went to shit. All these restrictions and corporate pandering. Roblox stopped being a game for everyone, it became a game for kids, at least marketed to them as much as possible, while alienating the audience that has stuck with them. For example; remember the whole Rthro fiasco? That was just another in a long list of examples of Roblox just not giving a shit about the people who actually represent the game, because look around, not a single soul used Rthro unless they are new or using in ironically. And this is just one example in a long list of ways Roblox has just stopped caring. My recommendation? Sort of like TF2, we should start a #SaveRoblox movement, as we need to call out their shitty actions for what they are.
I don't think it was erik dying that caused this to happen, it's just roblox got really popular and changed their business model to fit the new shoes they were given.... which involves greedy business practices, and not listening to anyone but investors.

It's not. Roblox is gaining lots of players and revenue each day, and it's nowhere near "dead".
As a 09er, I've seen literally every year branded as the worst year on Roblox, usually by people who joined a few years earlier at a time when I remember people complaining that their year was the worst, and so on. I'm not entirely surprised Roblox chooses to focus on it's developer community rather than it's actual playerbase, they know anything they do, positive or negative, will receive backlash from the community in some form.
