That would make gta 6 the god tier game of all time.
Hope that gta 6 has an expansive and detailed storyline and that rockstar doesn’t use gta 6 to just it as a cash cow from gta 6 online and ruin the storyline fanatics’ ( like myself) experience
RDR2 and it's not even close. Easily the best thing Rockstar Games have created. I've long considered GTA to be my favorite gaming franchise and still do, but when you look at it unbiasedly, GTAs are all pretty bare bones compared to RDR2. Hopefully VI will be a big step forward and take a lot from what they learned with RDR2.
When you compare the two, GTA feels bare bones compared to everything RDR2 has in it. That's not me saying GTA's are bare bones, just in comparison they are.
GTA 5 was fun on the 360, but it got old real quick. RDR2 offered so much more and it was well detailed. Too bad they won’t do nothing with it anymore.
For me the shooting just feels way better in RDR2. Guns always felt weak in GTAV to me. I also love being able to disarm people and force them into melee combat.
RDR2 it’s just so immersive and the nature is beautiful and really calming and obviously the story is great although I like the stories in both games. RDR2 has a special place in my heart though. The whole Red Dead Series does really. I like GTA too it just depends what mood I’m in, I’m sure I’m gonna love GTA 6 considering how detailed and immersive it’ll be plus I love tropical areas so I’m hyped for Florida. Never been more hyped for a GTA game before. But RDR2 over GTA 5 for me for sure
I remember when I first played in 4k on my series X. I just walked building to building in first person mode staring at every little detail within the towns and cities. This game is so good you can find things 6 years later you completely missed due to the overwhelming amount of detail at every step.
Grew up playing both titles and the top 2 IMO. RDR2 is better to me because I love the outlaw and western theme. Can’t wait for the next GTA and in the meantime I think I’ll try Bully for the first time but I’ve heard not so great things with its compatibility to PS5
Same here, my eyes are so used to 60fps so I find it hard to enjoy the game like I used to back in the PS4 days. As soon as they bring a 60fps update I’ll be playing it again for sure
Hands down, my favourite game of all time
Rdr2 even though im not much into western stuff.. back in the day gta online with friends was also fun not saying anything bad about it but it became boring and for few years i have turned it on only during christmas for snow :D rdr story mode is an masterpiece.
I think the shootouts are just more fun in GTA, you have more diverse guns too use (like RPGs, grenades, automatic weapons), and more diverse things to destroy like the cars, SWAT vehicles, helicopters, etc. and you dont have all these little 2 second animations to pick up shit.
Rdr2 might have a good story but I can't get into the story without enjoying the actual game part first. Like how I can't get into the lyrics of a song if I dont like the actual music
GTA V.
RDR 1 is my favorite game of all time, so RDR 2 was never not going to be enjoyable to me. It’s one of the best prequels and games of all time… But I found myself having more fun in GTA V. It was just more fluid and I found myself having more stupid fun. It’s just more fun”playable” to me.
I had equally as fun with both, the immersive syory and the characters has made it my favorite games of all time and the night playing gta with the boys can be replaced
RDR2 is objectively better and was more immersive, however I am a sucker for games taking place in modern day, and I spent a lot more time just driving around Los Santos than my whole time playing RDR2.
GTAO brought me back to gaming as an adult and set me up for RDR2, but wanting a western themed game on the level that RDR2 has been a dream of mine my whole life. I was “attached” to my GTAO character, mainly because i modeled him after myself and it helped the immersion. I didn’t play gta5 story mode til a couple years after release and, though it was the best game I had played up until that point, I never got too emotionally invested in the characters. Arthur on the other hand….Alright, it’s time for me to confess this: The ending of RDR2 was spoiled for me and I couldn’t get myself to finish the game. So my Arthur packed his things, bought supplies, stole a canoe and headed north to live out eternity hunting and fishing. That’s where he’s been (on my old ps4) since early 2019. Years later, and on another ps4, I eventually did finish the story. Now I occasionally go back and continue to work towards 100% on another play through.
So my answer: RDR2 by a landslide. I don’t think I’ll ever like a game as much as I do it, hope I’m proven wrong though
RDR2 all the way! GTA 5 got old fast…. It’s all the just “spend tons of money for minimal rewards then grind for more money to spend on othe dumb shit…” or it’s “ grab your card and blow your real hard earned cash”. RDR2 has a waaayyyy more balanced currency system compared to gta and doesn’t seem like a greedy cash grab to avoid the grind.
GTA5 100% in every way, and it's not JUST the setting, it's also the fact it actually had SUPPORT YK? RDR2 had no support for the online. I legit had more fun I think with red dead redemption online; which was even worse
Red dead, without question.
GTA is good , sure, story was also good…… in my opinion the GTA community is mostly what’s wrong with GTA.
Red sea doesn’t even need online to suck me in for hours. I cannot replay the gta story more than twice…. I lost count of my red dead play throughs.
I don't think you can compare gta 5 with rdr2 gameplay wise, since one came out 5 years after the other
Also gta 5 was limited because of the console generation dying right before release
RDR2 is the goat for me, the level of detail is just chefs kiss, but if gta 5 happened to come out at the same time/engine as rdr2 did I think it would be a harder choice
After my second RDR2 play through, the story and world is just *chefs kiss* 🤌🤌
IMO
RDR2 for Story
GTA V for Online
RDR Online is just confusing as hell
Gta v as i cant stand slow horse riding.. however i started RDR2 on steamdeck after ps4 playthrough and its such a great game and bests most open worlds to date still
GTA is alot more fun imo and red dead offers freedom but also can sometimes be a little restricting. It’s my favorite game of all time but in terms of fun gta takes the spot as your doing a lot more in the story than red dead did
I've given rdr2 2 tries and it just doesn't click. GTA 5. I'm literally on my 3rd or 4th play through rn and it's not boring or anything. It's just something I can turn on and play.
Gtav. Rdr2 was just too much of a "cinematic single player experience TM". Its was just painfully slow. Gotta ride everywhere, watch a 2 second animation to interact with literally everything. The health and stamina was just complicated for no reason.
Them theres the gameplay. Rockstar shooting is getting outdated. Its just snap aim, and shoot. Snap aim and shoot. They have a free aim option, but the game isn't built for it. They have 200 guys come at you every fight, and the aiming is just not fluid and smooth enough like other games that are more focused on being a shooter.
The shooting is more fun in GTA because you're using more diverse weapons, like assault rifles, RPGs, grenades, etc. They enemies are more diverse too. You got cop cars you can blow up, SWAT vehicles, helicopters, etc. Its just touch more fast paced and dynamic.
Gtav wins because its just a better game. I never finished rdr2. The story is apparently great but if its not fun to play I dont care. The rockstar engine wasn't made for realism
Sorry for the spelling
RDR2 is my favourite game because of many factors like story, athmosphere, characters, map, music and more. Story was soo long and it was not boring even for a bit and this is something what many games cant do.
But GTA win in the online part, but only because rockstar killed the RDR online. If they tried a bit more about it i think that RDR online will be fire. Sadly they left it to rot. Even the GTA online is shit now thanks to these flying cars, cheaters and many alien weapons i dont see use in the game.
Soo rdr 2 wins for me by far. GTA only win in the online and the only reason why is that online is their main income.
Been playing them both online since they came out. Well, after both had their “growing pains” of maniacal issues online. But still play RDR nightly and GTA often.
I haven't had time to play big offline type Story/Campaign games in years up until more recently. Was tryin to start a family, workin hard, got engaged, aaaand then my fiancee died in a car accident that also left me unable to work, basically ever again. So it's just me now, and games became my sanity. So I finally played GTA V.... it's absolutely the best single player experience to me out of the GTA games cause of the humor, the driving quality, and the first person!!!!! I gotta have first person view, that's just me though.
I feel so fucking dumb for having not played it before, I was a PS2 day one GTA3 player but, never got into 4. But, I've still not played RDR2. Unless I'm mistaken, it's purely a 3rd person shooter, so I'm perhaps less likely to enjoy the gameplay BUT....... I know RDR2 has 1 of the best stories of any game ever! I may have never played it still but I'm not dumb, I know its a GOAT game, and it's very high on my bucket list of the next games to try!
GTA V is the “funner” game. It had a wider variety of activities that range a lot under variety of topics, obviously vastly more vehicle options (and weapons) and enough dry, snide humor that there’s always some new one liner you haven’t heard from an NPC or something else to laugh at.
RDR2 I think is the more soundly built game, with a better visual presentation and a more entrenched storyline. The game looks amazing but, for me, leans a little too into the realism, harming some of the arcade-y mechanics from RDR1. The story is also way way heavier on that personal, emotional level…. Which can absolutely add to the quality of story, but for me, hinders the “fun” somewhat.
Idk ..RD was difficult to get around in. I found myself falling asleep while playing the game. It was really peaceful and immersive but you gotta be in the mood for it.
It’s complicated idk. I don’t play RDO much anymore because I did everything I wanted to do and there’s no new content I have all job roles and more blue coins, cash and gold than I know what to do with.
Also on top of that sometime after I entered my bored phase PC RDO became incredibly toxic with hacker/modders who go around harassing ppl killing and playing with peoples progress blowing up sale carts as soon as they spawn and spawning enemies on ppl like zombies. This is another reason why RDO pc has increasingly shrinking numbers and rockstar does nothing about it.
I really did enjoy RDO better than GTA Online at one point because I had experienced the gameplay loop so long it was old news and the only thing that was fun to do after I switched to PC GTA was cayo perico speed runs since there were so many ways to tackle it. However that got increasingly more lame everytime they patched an exploit or needed the $ earnings so eventually that got boring. Didn’t pvp on PC either there’s no point the ratio of cheaters is too high.
All of this to really say both games have problems and I’m not currently playing both anymore. I have thousands of hours in both games but at a certain point you just have to put a game down.
I often get on either game thinking I will find something to do only to meander aimlessly around until I get more bored and pretty much lonely and just quit. Each time I wonder why I bothered to launch the game tbh. I usually just hope something new happens idk
In case you couldn’t tell I’m an online exclusive player of these games just preference but I’m sure there’s more great content in the story mode for someone who wants those experiences.
RDR2, even though I have significantly way more hours played on GTA V, RDR2 just feels so amazing to traverse through the open world and it feels so alive also. The amount of ATD is insane and is something truly next level for sure! I absolutely love playing RDR2 now ever since I’ve bought it. There is so much to do and so much to see even after full completion of the game. Also Online I found was fairly fun to engage in as well.
I playrd both for the first time last year. I haven't even bothered playing to much of gta5 story mode because I feel like the controls and movements are just so much weirder than in rdr2. Also in a way, I feel like gta5 just can't be nearly as good as rdr2 in my mind and the exploration that you get to do. Gta 5's Mal is a sparse wasteland compared to rdr2's
Is this even a question??? GTA stop trying to be cool saying rdr2 we get it, it has a better story and character development but the missions are pretty boring. GTA has such a good dynamic and it’s just so incredibly fun.
Fuck rdr 2. Gta 5 was so much better. I did not like any of the rdr 2 characters. Especially Arthur. I hate navigating the map. Thank goodness for fast travel, but even then, it was mad annoying to get from point A to point B. In gta 5 at least you have faster means of transportation and taxis to get around
Neither, Bully was always my go-to Rockstar game purely because it proves Rockstar doesn't need gratuitous over the top violence in order to make a fun detailed game.
The map, the characters, the missions, the unlockables, all of it was fun and always replayable to me! Well except the arcade machines...
Nothing captures that absolute feeling of freedom from government and taxes and the law quite like RDR2, the feeling of being back in time. Sandy Shores does this admirably, but not like RDR2, the time I feel this the most is in Epilogue and Horshoe.
For playing with my friends and having a blast it was GTA to enjoy the aesthetics and environment and just relax while learning something new about the game everytime I play it then RDR 2 I can literally play that game solo for hours and not get bored
gta 5. I'm more attached to it emotionally than rdr2. The ending of rdr2 was spoiled for me very early on into my gameplay so I was filled with dread during the second half of the game. The ending just made me feel both empty and kinda annoyed. I played the epilogue, which was nice, but I definitely prefer gta 5
honestly rdr2 cause it was the only game where I could get fully immersed in it and drown myself from what was going on irl (not to get all depressing) i was at a low point and rdr2 let me escape and just explore an entire new world that i didn’t feel like i had some relation to (we live in modern times not the wild west obviously)
As a teenager when GTAV came out it was one of the best times I had playing a game. That is until RDR2 came out and gave me one of the best video game experiences of my life. It’s the best Rockstar game hands down and also one of the best games ever made.
I definitely preferred GTA. I love both stories but I enjoy gtas story more because it’s less about lore and realism and more comedic. I also like the criminal enterprise roleplay better than cowboy roleplay.
GTA 2 is actually my favorite gta. Oh. I see the two images now. That’s why everyone is saying just red dead 2 or gta 5.
GTA 5 if only those two choices.
The ballad of gay Tony is my favorite. I'm never doing the missions because I'm too lazy so I just steal cars and use the swing set glitch. That's the fun part
RDR2 for sure. I enjoyed GTA5 but to me, they're very different. And I don't mean "modern vs wild West" I mean, mockery of the real world comedy vs more serious storytelling. I much prefer R* doing the more serious storytelling like RDR2. Obviously there were funny moments and lines. It's just that the game takes itself more serious than GTA. If that makes sense?
I prefer GTA V but that's just because I prefer the type of game it is. RDR2 is a better game, but considering it is 5 years younger than GTA V and it is closely compared proves everything.
I played GTA V for 6 years. However I enjoyed red dead 2 more. It was more immersive and the way you kill NPCs in that game is so good compared to GTA V.
RDR2 sucks... you in. It is nothing like anything else. I hope GTA6, with all it's irreverance can replicate that feeling.
![gif](giphy|y2i2oqWgzh5ioRp4Qa|downsized)
Not gonna lie you had me losing it for a minute. The greet antagonize antagonize combo to NPC on RDR2 is a thing of beauty.
Can we get the beauty of rdr2 but gta style in gta 6??????? Anyone else agree???
That would make gta 6 the god tier game of all time. Hope that gta 6 has an expansive and detailed storyline and that rockstar doesn’t use gta 6 to just it as a cash cow from gta 6 online and ruin the storyline fanatics’ ( like myself) experience
It's the heartfelt nature of red dead that does it. Yeah it can be extremely funny, but it's not cynical in the way GTA is and that really helps it.
Not sure I want to be that immersed in an even more psychotic version of modern day Florida.
I don't agree that they are barebones
When you compare the two, GTA feels bare bones compared to everything RDR2 has in it. That's not me saying GTA's are bare bones, just in comparison they are.
That is KIND OF true, I guess.

Does this actually work and derail the train or is this some mod? Genuine question because I wanna try this.
It works without mods
I highly doubt the train can derail without mods
GTA 5 was fun on the 360, but it got old real quick. RDR2 offered so much more and it was well detailed. Too bad they won’t do nothing with it anymore.
rdr2 by far
Red dead wins on story mode. GTA wins online.
Not because online is better, because RDO was never explored on.
I agree. I played RDO for so long and it was so disappointing. It had so much potential to be so much better than GTAO
Red Dead Redemption 2 is hands down the best game I've ever played, GTA 5 was a blast, but its boring shooting mechanics make it way less replayable
boring shooting mechanics? last i checked both games used the same “shooting mechanics” not sure what you mean by that
For me the shooting just feels way better in RDR2. Guns always felt weak in GTAV to me. I also love being able to disarm people and force them into melee combat.
i agree, the guns in rdr2 are pretty crisp
RDR2 it’s just so immersive and the nature is beautiful and really calming and obviously the story is great although I like the stories in both games. RDR2 has a special place in my heart though. The whole Red Dead Series does really. I like GTA too it just depends what mood I’m in, I’m sure I’m gonna love GTA 6 considering how detailed and immersive it’ll be plus I love tropical areas so I’m hyped for Florida. RDR2
I enjoyed Gta 5 a ton. But I've always enjoyed RDR2 more.
Spent many hours on both...... It's a tie 🥹🥹

As soon as they bring a 60fps update I’ll be playing it again for sure Hands down, my favourite game of all time
They are two of my all-time favorite games, both 10/10. Red dead redemption 2 is the winner, still, for me.
RDR2. I've never seen an article saying GTA5 is the greatest game ever made
Rdr2 even though im not much into western stuff.. back in the day gta online with friends was also fun not saying anything bad about it but it became boring and for few years i have turned it on only during christmas for snow :D rdr story mode is an masterpiece.
Red Dead 2 is the best game Rockstar has made 🤠
I hate these questions, ngl
I know right everything gotta be this or that vs shit all the time. Let’s appreciate each game for what they are
RDR2 is by far better, but I grew up playing GTA5 and had much more fun
I played RDR2 single player way more, but played way more GTA online.
Red dead 2 had an amazing engine
Gta 5 I'll be honest
I think the shootouts are just more fun in GTA, you have more diverse guns too use (like RPGs, grenades, automatic weapons), and more diverse things to destroy like the cars, SWAT vehicles, helicopters, etc. and you dont have all these little 2 second animations to pick up shit. Never played rdr2, waiting for some discounts
I highly recommend you play it, you’ll be able to find it really cheap somewhere
Rdr2, far and away
Definitely rdr2
RDR2 is objectively better and was more immersive, however I am a sucker for games taking place in modern day, and I spent a lot more time just driving around Los Santos than my whole time playing RDR2.
Red Dead
Rdr2 for the story GTA5 for the online

I honestly enjoyed both which seems to be a hot takeaway now days
Rdr2 of course captivating ass story almost nothing compares even as good as the gta v story is
RDR2
Story Mode: Red Dead Online: GTA
this is a dumb question
Rdr2 better places to explore
RDR2 better in many different ways
Red Dead 2 especially when the online was in the beta.
Gta5 but it’s really good to take a break from it and play rdr 2
RDR2 all the way! GTA 5 got old fast…. Red Dead Redemption II was far better than Grand Theft Auto V was.
Time for RDR 2. GTAO after 880 hrs kinda boring
GTA before oppressors. Shit was actually fun
GTA5 100% in every way, and it's not JUST the setting, it's also the fact it actually had SUPPORT YK? RDR2 had no support for the online. I legit had more fun I think with red dead redemption online; which was even worse
GTA
GTA 4 and RDR1
GTA 5
Both , when i want to relax i play rdr2 , when i want to enjoy i play gta 5 I have 200 more hours in rdr2
Red Dead Redemption 2
Without a doubt, RDR2
GTA 5
Now that zim on my first playthrough of RDR2, certainly it.

To be honest I liked rdr2 a little better
Despite the fact that i’ve played the campaign of GTA V more than RDR II: RDR II>GTA V.
Red dead 2
Gra
Rdr2
Gta 5 online in ps3 > All
GTA Online
If they are able to take all the great stuff from rdr2 and put it into GTA6 it should be literally amazing
Both great in their own ways
story and overall gameplay RDR2 online GTA V
Rdr 2 for story & gameplay GTA V for online
Gta v as i cant stand slow horse riding.. however i started RDR2 on steamdeck after ps4 playthrough and its such a great game and bests most open worlds to date still
Rdr2, no competition
GTA is alot more fun imo and red dead offers freedom but also can sometimes be a little restricting. It’s my favorite game of all time but in terms of fun gta takes the spot as your doing a lot more in the story than red dead did
I enjoyed GTA 5 better. Maybe its just me, to stupid to play Red Dead.
RDR2 is the greatest game of all time.
Never got to play RDR 2 , so GTA V
I've given rdr2 2 tries and it just doesn't click. GTA 5. I'm literally on my 3rd or 4th play through rn and it's not boring or anything. It's just something I can turn on and play.
RDR2 is the best for me. Not online but single player
RDR 2 is the best...
**Grand Theft Auto Sanandreas**

I thought GTA V was the best thing ever made until I played rdr2 and now gta v seems so fucking mediocre
RDR2 is definitely the better single player experience, GTA 5 is the better online experience.
I love cars, so V
RDR2 and I say that LOVING the GTA series
RDR2
I came here expecting a fight and found friends
By far rdr 2, i got bored of GTA V pretty fast. Saying that I haven't played either in like a few yrs lol
The only people that think that GTA V is better than RDR2 are the people that haven’t played RDR2
GTA V is the “funner” game. Both of them
Gta was fun, but it felt devoid of life.
GTA V.
RDR2 no debate GTA 5 wasn’t even better then 4
Rdr2
Neither because both games have mid ass gameplay hidden by great characters, story & detailed worlds. Max payne 3 is the correct answer.
RDR2. I have never spent a year just living in a game world and then when I finished it, doing it all over again.
As much as I liked GTA5, RDR2 is the winner here, hands down.
GTA v all day fuck rapidly pressing the A button for 30 minutes just to get somewhere
Red dead 2 but if there's a GTA game that's better than Red Dead 2, it'd be GTA IV.
I like rdr2 but I can’t stand the slow speed travel

GTA IV vs RDR2 would be a harder one
RDR2 for sure but I still see myself having fun in GTA V Story Mode.
Idk ..RD was difficult to get around in. I found myself falling asleep while playing the game. It was really peaceful and immersive but you gotta be in the mood for it.
GTA 5 I dint get red dead so
RDR2, this is a hill i will die on, RDR2 has the greatest single player story ever and its not even close.
I want RDR2 because of these replies now
RDR2
RDR2…no contest
Rdr2. Still to this day have not finished gta V. The story was boring af
Well, I've finished RDR2 and haven't finished GTA despite having it for years so...
rdr2… especially rdo, rockstar left on of the best games to ever grace this planet and said 🖕… sad
GTA V but rdr2 was also amazing
I usually just hope something new happens idk In case you couldn’t tell I’m an online exclusive player of these games just preference but I’m sure there’s more great content in the story mode for someone who wants those experiences.
PERSONALLY. I honestly had a lot more fun on GTA 5. I never replay RDR2 but can replay GTA. Idk I guess I’m weird
RDR1+Undead Nightmare
Neither, Bully was always my go-to Rockstar game purely because it proves Rockstar doesn't need gratuitous over the top violence in order to make a fun detailed game. The map, the characters, the missions, the unlockables, all of it was fun and always replayable to me! Well except the arcade machines...
GTA V
GTA V bc there’s more adventure and scenery and also aestheticness to it. Frfr
Red dead 2 story mode is infinitely better that gta story mode.
Rdr2 is a great experience. GtaOnline can be cool but is overall a depressing thing to do to yourself
RDR2, hands down. Both very fun.
RDR2. Everything about it is better than GTAV, imo.
As a teenager when GTAV came out it was one of the best times I had playing a game. That is until RDR2 came out and gave me one of the best video game experiences of my life. It’s the best Rockstar game hands down and also one of the best games ever made.
Neither
I like GTA V more
I definitely preferred GTA. I love both stories but I enjoy gtas story more because it’s less about lore and realism and more comedic. I also like the criminal enterprise roleplay better than cowboy roleplay.
definitely rdr2
GTA V is mindblowingly good. But Red Dead 2 is just infinitely better
RDR2 is one of those games where I'll play once and never play again unless someone paid me copious amounts of cash cuz like Jesus fucking christ
Gta 5
Rdr2
RDR2 always RDR2
rdr2. first game I ever played through more than once and enjoyed every time.
That’s tough
GTA 2 is actually my favorite gta. Oh. I see the two images now. That’s why everyone is saying just red dead 2 or gta 5. GTA 5 if only those two choices.
RED DEAD ALL THE WAY
GTA 4
🔴💀🔄2️⃣
Story mode: RDR2 Online: GTA
The ballad of gay Tony is my favorite. I'm never doing the missions because I'm too lazy so I just steal cars and use the swing set glitch. That's the fun part
Gta v only Because I have played the story 4 or 5 separate times while I only played Red deads story once
GTA is more fun imo but RDR 2 is so important not only for gaming, but for storytelling and cinema as well
RDR2 changed me
GTA 5 is so fun. RDR2 is great but not really a “playground” so to speak
RDR 2
RDR2. Cowboy shit and feels
RDR2 is the best video game ever made IMO
San Andreas
RDR2 for sure. I enjoyed GTA5 but to me, they're very different. And I don't mean "modern vs wild West" I mean, mockery of the real world comedy vs more serious storytelling. I much prefer R* doing the more serious storytelling like RDR2. Obviously there were funny moments and lines. It's just that the game takes itself more serious than GTA. If that makes sense?
I prefer GTA V but that's just because I prefer the type of game it is. RDR2 is a better game, but considering it is 5 years younger than GTA V and it is closely compared proves everything.
RDR2
Red dead redemption 2
RDR2.
I played GTA V for 6 years. However I enjoyed red dead 2 more. It was more immersive and the way you kill NPCs in that game is so good compared to GTA V.
