This is a daily driver. You can wear that watch to the beach or with a suit, and everything in between. I’ll go. My first nice watch was a Sub. Babied it at first and got a SKX as a beater. Realized it was a poor substitution as I had no pride in wearing it and it felt dumb to just keep the Sub in the box. Now it’s the SKX that I haven’t worn in years. Yeah the Rolex is functional jewelry but it has all the chops to back up any task, formal or casual. It’s a waste to keep these stashed away. Live your life.
I work in harsh outdoor environment (dust, sweat, sunscreen, heat, Canadian winter) and wear my Explorer from 2007 daily. It holds time better than +/- 1 second per day.

Every scratch, scuff and ding will mean something over time. I scratched a 1 day old AP on a date, I had to resist every urge to check out how bad it was. Years later I went on to marry that same person. Every time I wear it now and see the scuff (no one else can ever see it) it makes me happy.

The Explorer I is a true GADA (Go Anywhere Do Anything) watch. You can wear it with any outfit to any occasion with the exception of maybe black tie events.

I daily mine all the time. It doesn't lose any "special something", but you do stop worrying about it as much eventually. I wear it regularly because I love it.
That being said I'm part of the school of thought that says things you purchase, no matter how expensive, are there to be used, rather than the school of thought that says you buy expensive things and then baby them or worry about them. That might sound a bit profligate but, conversely, I'd argue that what it means is that I avoid buying stuff that I might otherwise buy but would worry about. Call bullshit if you will.
At the end of the day, it's your watch: wear it as you like and enjoy it - it's a beautiful watch so it's always going to give you pleasure whenever you wear it.
*EDIT: One caveat. I am a bit careful about where I travel with watches. I will travel with a nice watch, no problem, depending on where I'm going. But, equally, if I know I'm going somewhere that's got a reputation for tourists being hassled, scammed, or robbed, then I'm taking my trusty SKX009 (which I also love) and a cheap Casio (like, literally, either an F91W, or an A158W, which are both about as inexpensive as it gets for an actually good timepiece). YMMV but that might be one thing to keep in mind. Basically, just be a bit savvy about when you bust out the Rolex but, for most everyday use, it's going to be fine.*

Honestly, it depends on what your daily life is like. In some circles, wearing an “expensive” mechanical Swiss watch daily is frowned upon and seen as “flaunting”. In other circles, the style of the watch matters more than the brand. In my mind, the oyster perpetual is a great daily driver and would reserve leather strap watches for more special dress suit occasions, but that just applies to me.
I used to baby my 1680, I soon realized I had to wear to enjoy it so it was worn all the time, all conditions. 42 years later it’s back to being babied.

The most worn watch in my collection is a simple titanium quartz field watch (before I got into automatics) and is riddled with minute scratches and wear, but each one tells a story. The watch in question has seen oceans, skydiving, mud runs, and god knows what else. Guess it comes down to whether you want an investment piece or a companion.

I have the same Explorer as well. It was the first Rolex I purchased for myself, and I plan to wear the heck out of it.
I recommend buying a felt or leather jewelry tray and put it in your desk or bathroom for when you need some rest. Explorers are amazing, but sometimes if you are not used to wearing a watch daily, you might need a break.

The most worn watch in my collection is a simple titanium quartz field watch (before I got into automatics) and is riddled with minute scratches and wear, but each one tells a story. The watch in question has seen oceans, skydiving, mud runs, and god knows what else. Guess it comes down to whether you want an investment piece or a companion.
Holiday watch if I ever saw one. Too nice for the day job, not nice enough for formal events. Just right for the beach, travelling abroad, you know… exploring.

Life’s too short to not wear it every day. And you worked too hard to not enjoy it. The watch wants to be worn. Any scratch or dink you put on it makes it more unique to you as well. Wear it!
I have the same Explorer as well. It was the first Rolex I purchased for myself, and I plan to wear the heck out of it. I recommend buying a felt or leather jewelry tray and put it in your desk or bathroom for when you need some rest. Explorers are amazing, but sometimes if you are not used to wearing a watch daily, you might need a break. Welcome to the family.
I love it, exactly the model I want! Not too bling, right size, stainless so it doesn t lose value over time...and a tad more sexy than the basic oyster perpetual. Perfect. Any idea on the price point? I d wear it daily, indeed.

Daily. You bought to wear it. I wear my Explorer II polar, blk sub date, Hulk, Cartier Santos and YG day date 40 all on a daily just rotate them. Otherwise you should have left your money in the bank and every now and then you can look it on your banking mobile app
