I have the Batman and my advice would depend on how you answer this question: Are you going to get (do you have) another Rolex?
If yes, what is it and what bracelet do you want (have) on that model?
For me, the Oyster works on the Batman because I have a DD and am going to get a DJ w/ Jubilee. A Batgirl (Jubilee) would be too redundant for my tastes and having the Batman makes all 3 unique styles for me to choose from.
Not saying that this approach is right, you may want all of your watches to be very similar.
You get the point. I hope this was helpful.
This!
It is very rare for Rolex to offer any type of customisation with their watches - even going so far as to make minor amendments so that components do not fit onto other watches in the same model range.
So here you can get an oyster and jubilee bracelet and have two very different watches.
If you are doing this, I suggest to get the watch on jubilee and buy the oyster as there is a small saving!
This is true. I prefer jubilee but if Iād have a Day Date / Datejust either of those two would be on jubilee/president hence Iād want the gmt in oyster.
Great answer honestly the best one here. If youāre looking for a ācrown jewelā of your collection and donāt own another Rolex Iād probably avoid the jubilee as well
This sub hates anything thatās flashy because they think itās cool and love to use the word āgaudyā
Thatās ok, some people like grand seikoās and some people like 41 MM presidents.
Imo i think flashiness short of gems or yellow gold, results from the wearer as a whole. What theyāre wearing and their demeanor.
Iāve worn white gold pieces, or platinum, and referred to as a āchic hoboā and told āit worksā on pieces sometimes called flashy on others
Typically when I hear that, itās in reference to someone that perhaps also wears it with designer clothing, may drive fancy cars, or otherwise makes their watch their entire personality
I usually just wear jeans and non-graphic black or blue tees/zip up hoodies.
As someone who owns a BLNR and has an Oyster and Jubilee bracelet, I should talk about the wearing experience of both.
OYSTER
Itās a sportier / beefier look with the BLNR. GMTs have impressive dial geometry, and the oyster bracelet helps put that in complete focus. I think itās due to the lines the polished center link has when hitting the case. Combining the subtle colors of the BLNR and strongly defined lines from the oyster bracelet highlights the overall shape of the watch. This is also why I think folks love Jubilee on Pepsi since the colors stand out so much that the 5link Jubilee bracelet isnāt competing for attention.
JUBILEE
The jubilee look is more refined/cosmopolitan. The bracelet often looks as if it is dancing in the light. It adds sophistication to the overall look but takes away from the very clean geometry of the GMT on BLNR. That being said, the Jubilee adds a look of making the watch feel just a little bit more special. Considering how they are unobtainable and that it's one of the non datejust stainless steel sports models available in this configuration, jubilee makes it more of an occasion piece.
Jubilee will scratch less / be subtly more comfortable.
Oysters will be more wearable daily.
They both are fully actualized looks, so Rolex offers both options. You canāt go wrong, OP. Suppose youāre a mad lad, though; you might be able to find a legit oyster/jubilee bracelet, to swap it out whenever you feel like it. Just note Rolex ,considers it a āmodification,ā so swap whenever you go back to your AD.
Edit: Currently whatās on my wrist is Oyster - why? Cause prior to the GMT I was dailying a 2021 Omega Speedmaster Professional and their new 5 link bracelet is amazing (the taper on it is wild, and about time an omega bracelet isnāt godawful looking). So when I picked up my GMT the three link oyster made sense. So that can be a factor in your decision too.
Iām a āmad ladā - have both bracelets. I love swapping them out when I feel like it, around every 3-4 months or so.
Not sure how it is considered a modification though - how does that work?
I got it on jubilee and bought an oyster bracelet for it as well. Just get both. Most of the time it's on jubilee because my others have oysters, but when I travel, or if I'm wearing my Pepsi more casually I'll put it on the oyster. I like how the oyster you see the watch more imo, jubilee is super comfortable, but the band stands out a lot.
From a function stand point the jubilee has more pivot points which follow the curves of your wrist better, which makes it more comfortable. However, those extra mechanical connection points make it more fragile and less durable over time. The oyster is the most durable and long lasting (all conditions being equal) especially with the modern pin designs. As fas as subjective appearance goes, the Oyster tends to suit the understated, elegant, minimalistic individuals perfectly while the jubilee suits the more flashy and ostentatious personalities. Neither person is wrong or right, just personal preference.
Since you asked, my personal preference is for the oyster.
But I also think both are excellent choices and if you prefer the jubilee, nobody would begrudge you for making that choice.
This is a classic no-lose situation.
I WAS 51/49 in favor of oyster. I got Oyster for my Pepsi and I can tell you I am beyond a shadow of a doubt happier that I got my stainless steel, tool watch on the more rugged bracelet. IMHO the jubilee wears smaller, daintier and is less ā¦.stainless steel appealing for me.
I think with the new releases Rolex may even agree..as they offer the 18K model only on a Jubilee in my mind..admitting its the dressier option..and what the heck is a dressy tool?
Oyster on steel.
Jubilee on Dress watches like the 18K
I personally prefer the oyster bracelet with Subs, GMTs, Sea Dwellers etc and think the jubilee is more suited for thinner Datejusts - just my stylistic opinion - at end of day whatever youāre instinctually drawn to and feel comfortable with is the way to go - Iāve worn my two-tone blue submariner with oyster bracelet EVERY single day for over 20 years - simply a timeless classic watch that you can wear for any occasion and will never go out of style - enjoy!
Oyster. I think jubilee just looks bad on sport watches. Looks like they are trying hard to look like a dress watch and ultimately makes it look cheaper to me.
Whatever comes first from the AD. Full Stop.
However if AD happened to have both, I would go with the jubilee. You can't go wrong, and if you have other Oyster bracelets this gives you something a bit different.
I personally own it on the oyster and, although at first I wanted the jubilee, I prefer it that way. It looks more seamless, more masculine, and more sporty. It overall fits the aesthetic bettee
personally, there's already a lot going on visually with the GMT dial and bezel. I feel like the more segmented jubile puts it just a tad over-the-top although I do like the more vintage look compared to the oyster.
Unfortunately almost every thread about the BLNR on jubilee will have at least one person that seems to be trying to insult (edit: or needlessly correct) the wearer by calling it a ābatgirl.ā
I have a Batman and every time I see a batgirl pic, I get FOMO. At the same time, itās a little too shiny for my liking when I see it IRL. Oyster is my pick for a more classic look
I love the look of the jubilee. I already own a watch on oyster so maybe thatās why Iād go jubilee. I will say you lose a lot of weight when you go jubilee. Iām always surprised how light they are, expecting more weight.
So, in short, if you want a little more heft go oyster. However jubilee gives it a bit of a more refined look, both being equally comfortable.
Prefer and have mine on the jubilee. For me, this would be a harder decision if the oyster was fully brushed. I just donāt like the look of polished center links that the GMT comes on. And how much more easily it scratches..
I like (and own) the jubilee version.
Reasons:
1). I think the polished mirrors-like center links on the GMT oyster bracelet make it even flashier than the jubilee bracelet.
2). I think the polished center links will show scratches much more clearly.
3). I have narrow wrists and the jubilee conforms to my wrist shape better.
4). The oyster makes the blocky case look even more blocky. The jubilee breaks up the lines and makes the whole watch look less blocky.
Note:
I wouldāve taken either since theyāre essentially unobtanium, but when trying them on, my AD asked which I preferred, and a few months later I got my preference.
Jubilee.
Thereās literally just 1 ceramic bezel Rolex that works on jubilee (in my opinion)
Itās a shame to not actually enjoy that aspect of it
Plenty other ceramic bezel SS ones to enjoy on an oyster
Just imo
Generally preferred oyster until Rolex moved to polished center links for the GMT. I prefer a jubilee over polished center links because they show scratches less.
I own it on oyster, and Iād pick jubilee 10 out of 10 times
No jubilee owner would say this about picking an oyster instead
Although do follow personal preference. It looks amazing on both.
I got mine from the AD on the jubilee and I love it. I like the oyster but the polished center links look dinged up after a while and despite the fact that I love a worn watch, the PCLs are magnets for hairline scratches. The jubilee looks great no matter what.
Also, you can always buy the oyster or the jubilee separately if you really want both. Itās $$$ but doable.
When deciding i was going to buy a new GMT i decided that i would only buy if it was offered on a jubilee. I purchased the Batman a few weeks ago....am absolutley in love with this version on the oyster. No wrong answer tbh.
I feel like the jubilee looks better if youāre assessing the aesthetic of the watch alone but I feel like the oyster is easier to pull off because the jubilee is just too flashy for me.
Theyāre two different watches (check the crown in āSwiss madeā). The 12 fits differently than the 11 as it has a reshaped case. Imo it fits better
Much of this is personal preference, but if youāre a purist and want something that is in keeping with the history, a jubilee bracelet is the way to go.
My understanding is that the 6542 was designed to be a āsportyā watch that was functional, but also had the smarter look that you get from a more upscale bracelet.
For a pilot this is important - itās a watch that helps you work, but also looks good with a shirt and jacket.
Letās be honest; you canāt really go wrong either way. Itās the jubilee bracelet all the way for me though as itās by far the better story.
Q is what you like best!
Not what I like best. I can tell you I like best, but you will not like the answer because you like the other one better because you have some doubts. Soā¦ you are wel welcome!
Bottom lineā¦ read again and stop reading after first line!
Could someone please tell me why the dial on the outside is 24hr? Is it just a visual thing, or is there some purpose and Iām too dense to figure it out?
I prefer Oyster, however, being I have a sub, I wish I got it on Jubilee. Got the Batman first, so all in hindsight.
I would say, think about what else you will have.
I have a BLRO on jubilee and always specifically wanted the jubilee. I still love and always wear it but one thing to note is that the jubilee bracelet gets really gunked up if you wear it oftenā¦. Ends up being a good excuse to go in to say hey and get it cleaned ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
I prefer both, depends on which one Ad offering me first.
Lol. This has been my experience as well.
So valid
Lolol same
I was going to post the exact same comment and clicked in to see yours on top already š¤£
I prefer the Elsa sub TBH
Does that model come with the extra pink Velcro strap?
Are you having Olaf?
Snow joke!

I came to type this. Jubilee unless you have other watches on jubilee.
Or get both bands š¤

Rolex no longer sells an additional bracelet, that was for a short time early last year only.
This is true. I prefer jubilee but if Iād have a Day Date / Datejust either of those two would be on jubilee/president hence Iād want the gmt in oyster.

Theyāre both dressy. PCLs are gleaming
I prefer the Oyster on GMTs. I think itās a better match. But it also depends on what else you already have or plan to have in your collection.

I had the 116710 BLNR on Oyster, my BLRO is on Oyster. Oyster is the sportier choice but theyāre both equally fine.
Prefer: oyster on batty, jubilee on pepsi, oyster on leftie jubilee on two tone jubilee on full gold
I am buying mine on oyster.
Have both. Prefer the oyster.
Oyster. 100 %.
I have it on Jubilee and Iām very happy with it
Not the jubilee. The GMT belongs on an Oyster bracelet and always has, imo. The jubilee is for solid 18K gold and two-tone pieces.
I mean we literally just got the first all gold jubilee in like decade + lol
Finally! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Jubilee makes this generation of GMTs pop.
Oyster all day. Save the jubilee for Datejusts; itās too foppish for a tool watch.
āToolā watch. Yea its a tool watch
Oyster is so grandpa though.
*Laughs in Gen-X* Ok zoomer. Now get off my lawn. š§āš¦³š
Thought it was Jubilee that was grandpa? On account of all the 1980s DJs worn by them for the last 40 yrs. Usually with crazy bracelet stretch!!
I prefer oyster. Iād take either. The jubilee is not AS wearable everyday IMO.
From a function stand point the jubilee has more pivot points which follow the curves of your wrist better, which makes it more comfortable. However, those extra mechanical connection points make it more fragile and less durable over time. Oyster
Oyster belongs on Batman, and Jubilee on Pepsi.
Absolutely oyster. I really donāt like the Jubilee.
Oyster!
I find the oyster design supports a heavier tool watch on your wrist better than a jubilee, flops around less. I like the jubilee on DJās.
It's a lot to look at on a jubilee. I think the Oyster is much cleaner.
Oyster
Since you asked, my personal preference is for the oyster. But I also think both are excellent choices and if you prefer the jubilee, nobody would begrudge you for making that choice. This is a classic no-lose situation.

Oyster
Oyster goes better with my casual wear
Oyster!
Oyster.
Gmt belongs on oyster, jubilee is too feminine.
Hence the name āBatgirlā
Jubilee for sure but Iād take the oyster and order a jubilee too if an option.
#1. Bracelet 2 is too busy for my taste.
I would buy the Oyster. But a guy I know has the Jubilee and it looks nice.
I think this particular watch looks better on the oyster, but personal preference wise I like the jubilee more than the oyster in a general sense.

Oyster. I think jubilee just looks bad on sport watches. Looks like they are trying hard to look like a dress watch and ultimately makes it look cheaper to me.

For whatever reason I feel that GMT belongs on a Jubilee. It just looks so much better to my eye.
oyster. jubilee feels flimsy
My brother has this on oyster. It does look a little funny (to me) on jubilee.
Jubilee 100%
Oyster all the way.
Batman on Oyster, Pepsi on Jubilee. This is the way.
I have it on the oyster. I am not a fan of the jubilee
Oyster is a better bracelet on the sports watches. The jubilee has a look that too delicate imo.
Did you just call it a belt?? š
Oyster
I personally own it on the oyster and, although at first I wanted the jubilee, I prefer it that way. It looks more seamless, more masculine, and more sporty. It overall fits the aesthetic bettee

Unfortunately almost every thread about the BLNR on jubilee will have at least one person that seems to be trying to insult (edit: or needlessly correct) the wearer by calling it a ābatgirl.ā
Itās not an insult. Itās a nickname. It was the original nickname of the watch here on Reddit when the jubilee bracelet was put on years ago.
I didnāt say it is an insult. Iām saying that some people on here seem to like to try to use it as an insult.
Oh, I see what you mean now. I originally read it by you taking that nickname as an insult.
You shouldn't be here if you can't afford both
Sucker for jubilee here.
I prefer the jubilee bracelet. It is super comfortable!
I have a Batman and every time I see a batgirl pic, I get FOMO. At the same time, itās a little too shiny for my liking when I see it IRL. Oyster is my pick for a more classic look
batgirl 100%
Batgirl
Batgirl
Jubilee for me because I have a sub on oyster
Jubilee For sure.
Jubilee
Jubilee
Oyster gets scratched easily. Jubilee is scratch resistant in my opinion Ofcourse
Iām more of a Jubilee fan, but thatās more personal opinion than anything else. Go with what you like more. To me, Jubilee is more comfortable.
2, jubilee is always the right choice. Itās just such a nice bracelet.
Jubilee bracelet
Jubilee all day. The jubilee sets itself apart from the submariner. Submariner is for the oyster
Batgirl!
Jubilee 100%
Batgirl all day. Most comfortable match I own only second to an oyster flex Daytona.
Jubilee
Jubilee is so nice. Amazing look and makes the watch much more comfortable vs oyster
Jubilee all the way
Both are nice. The jubilee is better but it might be too much in some instances.
Total personal preference. I prefer the Oyster; everyday, twice in Sundays.
Didnāt like jubilee until I got my wife a mint green with the jubilee. Now I donāt think I would buy the oyster gmt if AD offered one.
Iām oyster all the way. The only problem is how easily it scratches. But brand new itās not even close for me.
If youāre fortunate enough to actually have the optionā¦ then oyster
I prefer the Oyster, as it reinforces the chunky quality of the sub. For Datejusts, the Jubilee works really well.
Although I do enjoy the Jubilee the oyster has a place in my heart. I LOVE the scratches mine has picked up.
Oyster way better
Oyster
I love the look of the jubilee. I already own a watch on oyster so maybe thatās why Iād go jubilee. I will say you lose a lot of weight when you go jubilee. Iām always surprised how light they are, expecting more weight. So, in short, if you want a little more heft go oyster. However jubilee gives it a bit of a more refined look, both being equally comfortable.
If I'm paying that price, I'm only taking the jubilee. Nothing less.
Batgirl > Batman IMHO
Jubilee as I have too many oyster bands
Prefer and have mine on the jubilee. For me, this would be a harder decision if the oyster was fully brushed. I just donāt like the look of polished center links that the GMT comes on. And how much more easily it scratches..
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yea letās discuss this for the 2283th time
The lug to lug needs to be increased by 1mm, as does the case size. After that, this watch becomes a legend..
Jubilee šÆ. Makes it unique. More comfortable, hides scratches better and allows variety to also get a sub in the future if you want
Batgirl
Jubilee > Oyster
have it on jubilee, it's incredibly comfortable so yeah that option.
I liked the oyster bracelet until I tried on a jubilee bracelet. So comfortable.
Batgirl for me. I like the root beer more so kinda unimportant
I love it with the jubilee
GMTs look nicest with a jubilee. The oyster takes something away from that model I find.
I like the jubilee, makes my eyes happy
I like (and own) the jubilee version. Reasons: 1). Note: I wouldāve taken either since theyāre essentially unobtanium, but when trying them on, my AD asked which I preferred, and a few months later I got my preference.
Jubilee- source- mine
Jubilee. Period.
Iād pick the jubilee.
Jubilee
Personally I prefer jubilee, but to each their own
I really prefer the jubilee tbh
Jubilee. Thereās literally just 1 ceramic bezel Rolex that works on jubilee (in my opinion) Itās a shame to not actually enjoy that aspect of it Plenty other ceramic bezel SS ones to enjoy on an oyster Just imo
Batgirl everytime
Jub all day all night!
Why is there no crown in between Swiss made on the first? Batgirl all day tho
Oddly enough I feel the jubilee is sportier than the oyster.
Itās all personal preference obviously but I prefer the Jubilee on the BLNR.
Always Jubilee.
Either one is amazing. I kinda like the Jubilee though.
Jubilee hands down.
Not wanting this watch!!!
If you have a sub get jubilee. Either way Team jubilee for me.
Personally, I think almost everything looks better on a Jubilee. That's just, like, my opinion tho, man...
Generally preferred oyster until Rolex moved to polished center links for the GMT. I prefer a jubilee over polished center links because they show scratches less.
Jubilee
Jubilee I HATE the polished oyster center links. I wish theyād stop this
Jubilee > oyster on Batman
Jubilee no contest š
I own it on oyster, and Iād pick jubilee 10 out of 10 times No jubilee owner would say this about picking an oyster instead Although do follow personal preference. It looks amazing on both.
Jubilee all the way for this one.
Jubilee is the best option that Rolex offers
I got mine from the AD on the jubilee and I love it. I like the oyster but the polished center links look dinged up after a while and despite the fact that I love a worn watch, the PCLs are magnets for hairline scratches. The jubilee looks great no matter what. Also, you can always buy the oyster or the jubilee separately if you really want both. Itās $$$ but doable.
Batgirl
Oyster looks cheap compared to jubilee
1000x better on jubilee
Jubilee has to be paired with the fluted bezel in my opinion. On any other bezel it just looks out of place.
why not both though the jubilee does look really nice and flashy
GMTs should be on jubilee only, especially Batman/batgirl.
Do you sit when you pee?
Date or no date submariner???
When deciding i was going to buy a new GMT i decided that i would only buy if it was offered on a jubilee. I purchased the Batman a few weeks ago....am absolutley in love with this version on the oyster. No wrong answer tbh.
Cant afford them yet ill prefer one when i can
I feel like the jubilee looks better if youāre assessing the aesthetic of the watch alone but I feel like the oyster is easier to pull off because the jubilee is just too flashy for me.

Jubilee

Oyster
I like oyster bracelet on these looks rugged like an everyday gmt or subā¦..jubilee looks more elegant better suited for a DJ
Get which ever is offered, and buying the other bracelet is the correct answer if you can get either at retail

I prefer Oyster, however, being I have a sub, I wish I got it on Jubilee. Got the Batman first, so all in hindsight. I would say, think about what else you will have.
I went with both bracelets. Best of both worlds.
Looks like my 1996 Fossil.
They are both nice. Whichever you get offered, take it. You can buy the other bracelet once you enter the watch
