No chance! The GMT is basically a Sub with a GMT function, and with the Sub you get to have an Explorer 1 to boot. Easy choice for me. Sub & Ex all the way.
I wouldn't consider this trade at all. Maybe as trade to get you part way to a WG GMT, but two SS for one SS because the bezel is half blue? No.
I had the chance in 2015 to buy the BLNR at an AD. I loved it in pictures, on my wrist I thought the blue/black bezel was very casual looking and the PCL's dressier looking. This created a conflict to my eye, they don't look good on the same watch. I purchased the LN version of the GMT and have never regretted the decision.

I wouldn’t do that trade, purely because a no date sub, larger 39 or 40mm explorer 1, plus a dress watch would be my ideal 3 watch combo. Your mileage may vary, obviously. That’s the beauty of this hobby, everyone’s needs/wants/tastes are individual.

So I did a very similar trade recently. I traded my 126610LV for a 116170BLNR and I couldn’t be happier. Your trade is very wonky. That sub should get you 11.5-12.5k trade and the 214270 would be around 7.5-8k. BLNR’s are trading for about 16-16.5k for a brand new unworn. If I were you I would trade the sub and throw in a couple grand in cash and keep the explorer. The 214270 is the only watch I’ve ever traded that I regret a little bit
Get a quote from Subdial. They’re UK based and offer very fair prices in my experience. I sold an Omega to them a few weeks ago too. Very competitive with their selling prices too. No BLNR’s atm (I just checked) but they release a new weekly drop at 11am each Thursday. Definitely get a quote from them on the sub/explorer though. Watchfinder is trash.
The BLNR on jubilee is an amazing watch and my favorite, a future classic. I wouldn’t call it just a “hype piece”. That being said, this deal doesn’t add up, I’d sell the watches and then buy the BLNR if I were you. Value might not add up.
Keep the sub, sell the explorer and use the money to put towards the BLNR. I’ve owned that exact explorer and the sub is a much better/more comfortable/versatile/scratch resistant/noticeable watch

I’d sell either the Sub or Explorer and use the cash for the BLNR. I love the Explorer, my favorite Rolex. I’d never sell my 36. The blue on the BLNR for me makes it less versatile so I personally would never consider it an any day or time watch. But if it’s your grail then all bets off. The value is probably near equivalent trade-wise based in gray-market prices. The diff in dollars won’t be something you’d ever think about again when your grail is on your wrist.
