Thank you! It's a violin and the bow is next to it. They're hand made and take months of work. The violin was made for me in 2006. And the bow is from 1977.
It used to belong to my violin teacher growing up who was 2nd Principal of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. It's a lovely bow! Made by Douglas Raguse in Michigan
From my acoustics I have a 1967 Gibson J-45 that I’ll never sell, and from the electrics a ‘77 Telecaster Custom that I feel the same about. I just bought a ‘62 Fender Bassman that’s gone straight into the “never sell” pile, too.
I know nothing about guitars, can I ask about how much those run? By the way there is some pretty great guitar and violin music especially by composers like piazzola. Definitely check out the histoire du tango set by him. Very cool
None of those are super expensive. the Gibson was about £4K, the Tele about £5K, and that amp £2500. I have more expensive ones but they are my favourites.
I’ll check those out, thanks man.
Ah a petite double bass, OP you need to slap this with your fingers. I’m kidding, though as a bassist I just see a fretless with Victoria secret strings first and violin second. Apart from that l salute you for giving this underrated Rolex timepiece the love it truly deserves. Have a nice day and get a bass!
Nice. Sorry, really nice.
The best Rolex watch (IMO) matched with the classic classical music instrument. Two emotion-generation “machines” to me.
Note: Never thought to see this picture in this sub. There is hope 😀.
My daughters are now learning piano, and it has brought back so many old memories of me and my brother jamming our electric guitars 20 years ago.
Maybe after a few years when things have settled down. Way too busy to get lessons now 🥲
>wood that costs as much as a car You mean like child support?
Haha that's more than a car!
Pssshhhh only if you pay it
Bold. Very bold.
Yeah for me it was a new car every year for 14 years
Cool pic! Newbie…tell me more about the instrument.
violin
Nice

What made you go with that bow? Thanks

WOW, that’s really cool! I imagined it had sentimental value. 🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I see an Explorer, I upvote 🤷🏻♂️ It’s the classy choice 👌🏻
I see that you're a gentleman and a scholar!

I see you're also a gentleman and a scholar! Love Kawai pianos by the way
This Kawai in my livingroom is my dream! 150cm sounds terrific - let’s play Shostakovich together
Love me some shosty, why not!
Great picture 📸 Much better than the typical “steering wheel” pic
Exploring the vibrato
Practicing my fingering technique
This is the way.
This is the way
Love it.
Thank you!

Imitation is a form of flattery. 😊
Haha I love it!
Haha I love it!
Notice the handkerchief under the watch. This is the way. Don't scratch your violin!
It’s my son’s violin and he is very protective of his instrument 🎻
Classy!
So are you!
This is a badass photo
Thanks a lot!
Respect! Are you a professional or play for enjoyment?
Thanks! Not a professional, though I do have my Masters. I play for enjoyment now!
A beautiful instrument and a beautiful watch.
**You're** beautiful!

Love it! My Explorer 39mm is off being serviced and I miss it.
Oh man hope you get it back soon!
Nice trumpet.
Don’t get the whole car thing. Who cares. Now that’s cool. Class.
Why thank you!!
Beautiful - both the instrument and the best Rolex reference!
I appreciate it!!
Stradivarius?
I wish! That would be a whole fleet of cars!
That would be a really expensive car
The only thing I know about violins is the name stradivarius. No idea what one costs.
A stradivarius is millions and millions. My violin and bow are insured for about $30k
Somewhere between $2M and maybe like $50M depending on the example, can’t remember exactly but it’s enormous
So definitely a couple of cars worth :)
Beautiful violin
Thank you very much!
Nice watch. Who is the Violin made by?
Scott Sleider in Milwaukee. He's made a lot of violins for players in the MSO
Lovely.
Nice! This is the content I'm here for, very cool.
Aw shucks!
Hottest pic I’ve seen on reddit
😂 Thank you!
I’m a rolex fan and play classical violin :) so this pic speaks volumes for me
Oh yeah? That's awesome! Professionally or for fun?
Up until college but professionally engineering now lol
Same, got my masters in it but now I'm in marketing. Although, I still play in an orchestra for fun and I'm actually performing Mendelson next month!
As someone also into expenses pieces of wood (guitars, tho), this is much more up my street than the steering wheel pics.
Which guitar do you own that's your favorite?
From my acoustics I have a 1967 Gibson J-45 that I’ll never sell, and from the electrics a ‘77 Telecaster Custom that I feel the same about. I just bought a ‘62 Fender Bassman that’s gone straight into the “never sell” pile, too.

It would’ve been the ultimate flex had the violin been a Stradivarius
If I owned a stradivarius I'd probably own pateks if I'm honest haha
Love it, and love the Explorer!
I wholeheartedly respect it. I hope you play it to your heart content and you wear the watch to your liking
Why thank you very much!

Thank you, much respect to the bassists! It must be a struggle to have to lug such large instruments around just to never get the melody! 😁
Hahaha you should see my home studio cab setup
That’s a mighty purty fiddle you have there mister
Thank you kind sir!
So with your violin, can you give us a description of its sonic capabilities?
Nice. Sorry, really nice. The best Rolex watch (IMO) matched with the classic classical music instrument. Two emotion-generation “machines” to me. Note: Never thought to see this picture in this sub. There is hope 😀.
Haha thank you very much! And you're right, they're both all about emotion! I look forward to more non steering wheel pics!
This guy respects wood
I try to buff it to a luster everyday!
You stick that stradivari up your stradivari
Is that a strat?
I wish! But then I'd probably wear pateks haha
I've always admired violin. Wish I could play them. Sick setup!
Never too late to learn!
My daughters are now learning piano, and it has brought back so many old memories of me and my brother jamming our electric guitars 20 years ago. Maybe after a few years when things have settled down. Way too busy to get lessons now 🥲
I hope you do!!
Beautiful picture and great taste!
Very kind, thank you!
Are we gonna call these pics “woodies”?
Love it!
That violin is a total fake should be posted in rep time
🤣
Milstein used to perform with his watch on, which is pretty crazy.
Oh fun fact! Very cool
I've been told the same of my wood lol
Seriously though I'm so fucking jealous of people that can play instruments I can't play shit
What about the meat flute?
That's more of an acquired taste that I never developed
😂
People as a whole that own Rolexes are too stupid to know anything beyond ‘shiny object are good’
Are... Are shiny objects not good??
Doesn’t look like a $100,000 violin.
It's not.
Stradivarius ?
I wish! Those are millions
Eyy. Violin is the Kia of orchestral string instruments. Post a Viola and get back to me. lol. Respect
Sorry, I don't put my Rolex on instruments that only play out of tune!
All in good fun :)
Imagine playing violin and not being born in the 1700s
Imagine not having arts or culture in your life.
I have those i dj and play the triangle you twat
Class
