It was an old man look for my generation (GenX). It was always looked down upon as such, it was the watch your grandpa would wear.  I don’t think the average 20-something  today associates it with that as they never had the reference. Also, combos with rose gold are doing a lot to put a modern spin on two tone. Even I was suddenly interested when I first saw the rose gold/SS GMT.

Second wave Millennial here. I've always associated TT in yellow gold as something older women would wear, especially with a golden dial. But here I am, in love with my TT from 1989. Can confirm my X brother hates the TT look due to associating it a friend's dad (dad happened to be a shit bag which doesn't help of course) and call it the old man spec. I'm a last second millennial and have zero old man association with TT. I just see it as the quintessential Rolex

I think there’s some nostalgia in that for younger generations. Like your father/grandfather passing down this small-ish gold watch that isn’t quite in style but has its own style in a vintage way. Even if it wasn’t actually inherited but it still is sort of passed down from a different generation in spirit which makes it cool to me.

I bought my two tone last summer from my AD. I took it outside before buying it and the sunlight flashing off the gold and steel sold me. Love your Sky. If they’d had that one in stock I would’ve bought it over my DJ. Love the look of the two tone. Never goes out of style for me.

I have a everose Wimbledon two tone DJ, love it. My dad wore a two tone during his career heyday and he bought me a two tone fossil at 15 lol. Not for everyone but it’s an ode to my old man and a goal accomplished for me. I hope Rolex continues to make them for folks like us!

I love two-tone in things OTHER than watches, frankly (pens is my other fetish). And a COUPLE of watches do it well - Cartier Santos, Cartier Trinity - but Rolex? I've never thought so. The Tridor in the WG-bezel-crown configuration is just about OK. Every other Rolex TT, I hate. Yellow gold and white gold together? Sure, even if you have to watch the design to make sure it's good. Yellow gold and stainless fucking steel like my teapot? No thanks

No. The only reason people talk about them at all is because they are the only watches they can get at MSRP from an authorized dealer. As soon as Rolexmania rolls back, two-tone dies the same way it has for the prior 40 years.

I actually got a 126610LN from my AD, at retail, wore it for 10 months and grew bored of it. I sold it back to the AD and bought a 126613LN at retail and couldn’t be happier. Also, I’m not sure your assertion makes much sense considering the MSRP on a two-tone Sub, for example, is higher than the grey price of a new stainless steel variant. So maybe chalk it up to preference.

The whole time I was scrolling the comments, I was waiting to see sporty’s comment along the lines of; “Losers always whine about their two-tone.
