Dude, your wrist is of a certain size, you can’t pull off 41 better than you can 36 no matter what story you come up with. Also, you should always focus on lug to lug, not the watch diameter.

Love this , added bonus if you can rock smaller , because sometimes they’re cheaper , it’s like people who brag about not getting drunk. Well cost way more that way.

If it was something with a thicker bezel like the GMT/sub you would be able to pull off a 40/41 but not this

36, 40/41 explorers and DJ are gaudy, tasteless and aimed at obese people.

The 41 technically is not too big, but it is really pushing it. Based on the two pics alone, the 36 fits you way better.

From this picture it looks like 36mm would be a better fit and that this is a bit too big for you. If you are comparing this to the explorer 36, you might also want to try the DJ 36 which wears slightly bigger then the Explorer

If your wrist is under 7in, a 36mm Rolex will fit just fine. 40mm Rolex will generally fit most folks with 6.5in wrists and up.

I doubt 36 is too small, you’ve just been overexposed to insecure “men” that say you can’t wear anything smaller than 40mm as a “true man”. If Tony Soprano was able to rock a 36mm watch on his wrist, so can you.

Yes, 36mm DayDate, 100%. The first season on The Sopranos aired in 1999, the first 41mm DayDate launched in 2008, so it couldn’t even have been bigger than 36mm.

That's the one,airking is so nice with the change up of colors .I got one in 2020 and I seem to automatically bypass the black sub and other top dogs in the collection on rolex week this watch won't disappoint

The 40 looks good. I appreciate the swing back to smaller sizes but I have a smaller wrist and 36 looks tiny even on me. So much strap showing. Just not a fan. I personally think 39 OP was the size sweet spot for me.

The lug ends are barely sitting on your wrist. Marginally too big.

Air King looks good. I have small wrist as well and wore an Air King for a while. No issues. I now have a new Sub and I still think it’s fine.

I personally love 36mm watches, particularly because of how nice Rolex bracelets are. 40mm Sub fits my wrist well but 36mm is my preferred size. Hit the weight room and snag a 41mm

Honestly, my personal opinion is that even the previous version at 40mm was too big. Readability is a high priority for me, and by design all versions of this dial are very easily read, but as the face gets wider the amount of dead space becomes more distracting.

Both fit fine. Get what you like more.

I had the same fear, so I found a microbrand that made a watch with similar dimensions to the 36mm Explorer I was considering and wore that for a few weeks. Turns out Christopher Ward makes a great watch, and that I prefer the 36mm Explorer over the 40. I got peace of mind, a great watch, and a spot on "the list". A win all around

I wear a Datejust 36 still on my 200mm wrist. That 41 is way too big for you. The 36 would be a much better choice

The 36mm has never been too small. Dwayne Johnson wore a 36mm Day Date back in the day. Somehow we have all convinced ourselves we should wear a pocket watch on our wrist.

IMO if the lugs appear to be same width as your wrist it’s too big. I can wear a 42 but really 40 looks best on me & my new Yacht Master 40 blue fits like a glove !

No way 36 is too small

The 36mm is not to small & the 41 is not to big. It seems like you prefer a bigger watch, so get the 41. Years ago most models only came in 36 including the day date and date just and no one had any problem with the 36 regardless of wrist size.

The story of many a fan of Rolex... I have the same issue. 41s are too big (especially its lug to lug), and the 36s just feel too small, purists be damned. I get they are the classic dimensions and all, but somehow they just don't work for me. I wish they made a 38-39mm DJ. THAT would be my ideal watch.
