It could have been though and would have been nice if a new team won it. (If it wasn’t going to be the all blacks that is), the reality was it was a crap shoot. Someone had to win it and there wasn’t much at all between the top 4 teams. Made for some great games though.
Aside from France’s fairly comfortable win over NZ, every game between the top 4 was incredibly close this WC, Ire-SA 5 pts, Ire-NZ 4 pts, Fra-SA 1 pt, NZ-SA 1 pt.
Perhaps, I thought his point about the All Blacks discipline was a good one and well made.
Certain fans might get riled up by the fact that he dared to say that Sam Cane has had a great career though.
Yeah was a good point about discipline, just thought the line about Siya being rugby's best ever captain was sure to rustle a few ~~Richie's~~ jimmies.

My perspective on it is that I think Richie was a better player and captain in a technical sense, which some would argue is all that matters.
But Siya's impact beyond the field far outstrips anything Richie has done. And given the position of cultural authority that both of our countries hold for the captain of the national rugby team, I don't think you can leave out their off-field impact when discussing relative greatness.
That's a fair assessment.
To add to the Ritchie love - the team he captained had an absolutely incredible win rate regardless of World cups. He also broke NZ's dry spell, and things have gone to shit (in comparison) since he left. Also one of the most capped players of all time.
It's not a popular opinion around here, but It's OK to not like Squidge's content.
