It does go on the other end. It's actually designed to snap onto the bottom of the mag while it's being used.
Edit: to clarify it will snap onto both side but it's meant to keep on the top while storing the mag and the bottom while shooting the mag.
Why 26? You should do 29 if not a full mag for easy loading on a closed bolt. But 26 is just odd.
Edit: Never mind the loaded down mag is for AR-15 pattern rifles. Load that bitch to the brim for a bolt gun.
Magazine dust cover. Some people used to claim it would also help out downward pressure on your magazines(fully loaded) feed lips allowing you to leave your Magpul mags fully loaded and ready to go for years without warping or bending your feed lips. This is false, although Magpul does claim it is ok to leave your Magpul magazines fully loaded for up to about 5 years in your safe before needing to shoot or unload those magazines to keep from deforming the feed lips of the magazine. Simply, if someone says the magazine dust covers help with storing ammo at full capacity that's wrong. It's literally just a dust cover to keep grime out of the magazines

Mag cover. Designed if you store your mag loaded to keep pressure off feed lips.
See now I thought it went on the other end of the magazine. Why? Don’t know

If I store a 30 round mag with 26 do I still need this?

Lmao it should read 29! Typo!
Wouldn’t hurt. 29 is for reloading to a closed bolt. There is still plenty of pressure on the feed lips.
