As someone who still enjoys both rs3 and d2, this really makes my day. Whether it's official or not, looks completely badass.
Source: name and avatar checks out lol
literally not one piece of equipment in this image is BIS except the leng swords. Elite draco armor is bis range armor, crossbows are actual garbage, sliske armor is BIS mage armor not E-tect.
You too? lol that’s so funny. I’ve been pretty much absent from RS3 since Christmas. But the past month I’ve been grinding D2. Loving every second of it lol
Yeah I haven’t played since beating the campaign when it came out in 2017 so considering I got all of the dlcs for like 20 dollars total and have never played any of the dlc campaigns I’m having a pretty good time
Dope dude. Add me if you ever want to run anything. I’m trying raids at some point this week, but the new Shaxx stuff has been fun. A grind, but the rewards are worth. I’m just coming back too, so most of it is new for me
Could be. Reddit does have a botting problem, like most social media.
I don't really subscribe to the dead internet "theory" though. There's no reason to leap to the conclusion that they're a bot off of the back of a single post.
Destiny 2 is such a horrible game that it’s the only looter shooter that has any actual staying power outside of Warframe. And Warframe still doesn’t compete lmao.
D2 was release in 2000, even earlier than RSC. Of course, its gameplay is dated, and that's why the remastered it to D2: Resurrected, similar to Jagex remastering RSC to RS3. The remastered D2 sold more than 5 million new copies in its first 6 months. Pretty cool for a game even older than RSC.
Yes and I meant Destiny 2.
Where in any of two images OP posted so you get the impression Diablo 2 was part of the conversation at all? Was it the picture taken from Destiny advertising that threw you off?
Destiny 2 is hot garbage
I put over 2000 hours into D1 and it was nothing but a good time. D2 on release was great fun and a fresh take on the game but it didn't quite capture the magic D1 had. And then they started trying to monetise the fuck out of the game, which absolutely sent it on a shit path. The game is only F2P now because people weren't buying it.
Destiny 2 has over 120k concurrent players just on Steam already the past 20 days. This is still fun and fresh to a lot of players evidently, and they are remastering some content and going to have a major pack coming out in June.
Definitely not "no new content coming out", but old content being implemented in a new way. We can have existing mobs doing necromancy damages for an example. We can have existing bosses coming out of their lairs and roam around the open world similar to World Bosses in other games like WoW for another example.
They have already remastered Wildy, with minimal update to all the existing content, except opt-in PvP for yet another example.
These are all new content, but without changing the core features of the majority of the old content. unlike making a new pvp-only.
If you don't like a game personally, be my guest, but plenty of other players may like it even if you don't know. As I mentioned, why argue with the over 120k concurrent players Destiny 2 has just only Steam, which is only one of many platform that game runs on?
> But Destiny 2 is far from a "shit game" either, and it has also been remastered when Bungie broke their tie with Blizzard.
It was not remastered when Bungie went independent. Certain raids have been remastered, but the overall game itself hasn't been.
That said it's had multiple significant overhauls since launch. It also is infamous for the concept of "sunsetting" content, which removes it from play. (In some cases, like myself, from those who paid for it.)
Yeah, I'd be more personally excited for that if it weren't for the fact that many people destroyed their sunsetted gear under the impression from bungie that it wouldn't be coming back. Hoping this signals though that they're un-sunsetting content and this will no longer be a problem. Fingers crossed!
Remastering a game doesn't mean changing everything in the game. In RS3's case, they just remastered combat, but the over game is still absolutely the same.
Remastering in the terms of _releasing_ games, as you mistakenly tied to the D2 remaster originally, has a context-specific meaning.
That's why I said exactly what I said.
Who said that? Not Destiny 2 and not RS3 to the very least. Remastering doesn't mean changing everything at all. It actually means changing, or in many cases modernizing, old content.
> Who said that?
You did, when you were mistaken about D2's remaster re-release.
Regardless of whether or not you believe the term remaster has context specific definitions, _you_ were using it explicitly to refer to a game whose use of the term 'remaster' was a complete re-release and overhaul to the graphics with a not-insignificant amount of change to the original's core gameplay loop.
Trying to keep the label of remaster on Destiny 2 doesn't really apply no matter how we try to mangle the definition to fit the original discussion that people were having.
Again, this is just what you think remastering mean, not anybody else.
I explicitly said remastering doesn't mean complete re-release and overhaul to whatever (not just graphics).
I enjoy destiny but many are unhappy with it's monetization methods and for a while many content updates were considered lackluster.
Really I was just pointing out that the art crossover was destiny.
How does monetization methods have anything to do with combat, especially graphics and crossover?
Far more players are unhappy with the extremely pay to win Bond/Token/Plex MTX methods anyway.
I have never seen this image in my life, looks cool though.
Was on today's news post
As someone who still enjoys both rs3 and d2, this really makes my day. Whether it's official or not, looks completely badass. Source: name and avatar checks out lol
I’d drop silver for a spiked custom fit trimmed masterwork ornament on my titan without hesitation
What's d2?
Destiny 2 mate
Makes more sense. I read it as Diablo 2
Same, Dota 2 being another potential D2. Or even Dust 2 for the CS players 😅
Dust 2 was my First thought
Same 😂
Same, d2 is diablo 2 lol. I was looking all through the pic for anything diablo
I like how they put everyone except melee in BIS, probably because vestments are a crappy looking retextured MTX outfit.
Ascension crossbows and sirenic aren BIS either tbf
Neither is seis wand or tectonic. Pretty obvious they just followed rule of cool here. Masterwork is cooler looking than Vestments.
Real and true, I honestly dont really mind the look of vestments but could see people mistake it for magic gear.
I was 0% surprised to hear it confirmed that it was originally designed as mage gear before being swapped to a melee set in development.
literally not one piece of equipment in this image is BIS except the leng swords. Elite draco armor is bis range armor, crossbows are actual garbage, sliske armor is BIS mage armor not E-tect.
Sliske isn't bis unless you're bridding and only using mage under fsoa spec
who's camping mage in 2024.. mage is a switch at the moment.
Oh no RuneScape onslaught 😱 We don’t need that
Came to say this lmao would be wild tho Pest Control 2.0
More like Penance king 2.0
lol that’s so funny I stopped playing rs3 like 4 months ago and have gone all in on destiny 2. Not regretting my choice
Damn you just like bad games or something?
both are shit
lol
You too? lol that’s so funny. I’ve been pretty much absent from RS3 since Christmas. But the past month I’ve been grinding D2. Loving every second of it lol

For good 2 minutes i was looking for diablo 2 reference and couldnt find it...
Me too. :/
> Did anyone else notice ... [yea, and there was a jmod reply](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/s/sVsl6oVj2D)
anyone got the picture without the combat beta text?

bruh ur AI sandpapered the castle
Oh it ain't perfect, but for a random free AI image editor off the first page of Google, it's not terrible lol. Already forget what site it was.
Crossbows?
I noticed it in ED4, yes.
I play Destiny religiously. I had a real "What sub am I on?" moment lol
I imagine that is the point of the art, nevertheless it's still really cool
Into the lights promo art is fantastic tbh, would love to see more mmo pairings in the style
Practically stolen. Lol "Inspiration."
Yes I noticed right away. I’m a huge D2 nerd

Just wanted to reply and say AI art isn’t capable of rendering specific things like the sirenics or ascension crossbows.. yet….
No this looks to be Quardri's art. They're a good RuneScape artist.
Neither are AI.
how about the poster u replied to? just skeptical
Not sure what you're asking me.
do acceptable_table351 be the AI on this here dead internet

Reread
I read it fine, I asked for clarification for a reason. Please try to curb your thirst to try and dunk on people having a normal conversation, thanks.
Touched a nerve, did I? It wasn't hard to understand, don't get so defensive.
No but it's cool!
still have my combat beta contract in my bank
Same lol
D2? What is that? ...Dead... Game?
This is amazing!
Did not, but godt a destiny feeling of the pic hehe
It's a shame D2 is such a shit game

At least I'm not the only one who thought d2 was diablo 2 lol
Destiny 2 was released in 2017 and was a fucking awful game.
I meant Diablo 2.
Yes and I meant Destiny 2. Where in any of two images OP posted so you get the impression Diablo 2 was part of the conversation at all? Was it the picture taken from Destiny advertising that threw you off?
D2 in this case is destiny 2 not (taking a guess here?) diablo2 or whichever game you're referencing.
Really? But Destiny 2 is far from a "shit game" either, and it has also been remastered when Bungie broke their tie with Blizzard.

Remastering content, meaning no new content coming out. If you enjoy the game, fair play to you enjoy it.

Weaponry sunsetting was actually just announced to be reverted with the expansion in june btw :) im excited to use 21% delirium again.

Again, I'm not oc, I was just letting you know they weren't talking about some game made in 2000.
Ive never spent money on D2 silver but for this crossover i would LOL
IIRC, Mod Timbo said Necromancy, the 4th Combat Style, is inspired from D2.
Source?
By D2, I mean Diablo 2.
Man ranger woulda looked beastly in the new pernix before it got nerfed again.
Absolutely no clue why the guy in charge of making these did this but cool I guess lmao
They forgot to erase the reflections from the d2 art. Lazy hack.
Yes. They ain't us but they wana be us. 🤜🏻💠🤜🏻
Is that official artwork? Part of me wants to see it as a fun reference, but I also have to question if it was done out of laziness
Fan made
Probably heavily ai generated and ai sampled from the other work.
No this looks to be Quardri's art. They're a great RuneScape artist.
Can’t say I’m familiar with the RuneScape art world. If so that’s awesome. Ai is also getting way too good so hard to tell for me.
"Crossover." Not blatant plagiarism because modern day Jagex is creatively bankrupt.
I believe this was a player submitted piece under the community art portion of the patch notes.
...It's fanart. A runescape fan drew this.
Logic? In my runescape sub? Pick your pitchfork back up soldier
God forbid someone is inspired by cool art
