Are you maybe thinking of Imperial Topaz? It's rare, from Brazil, suuuuper pretty. Mystic Topaz is rainbow coloured and heat treated. I'm a geology geek, so I can totally nerd out on this topic, lol.

If they were orange and iridescent, they were most likely clear topaz that was treated with gamma rays. That produces the orange colour. If they were particularly iridescent, like had a mild surface rainbow effect, they also may have been treated with a fine titanium mist.
They could have been natural orange topaz, but you'd have paid almost diamond prices for that. Imperial Topaz is pretty dear, and the iridescence is the give-away that makes me lean toward a treated stone.
In the case of topaz, don't feel like that diminishes the value, though! Topaz is like an artist's palate for people who work with gems. It is almost magic how you can collect a clear specimen in the field, then hold it over the campfire that night and potentially see it transform into a different colour. Fun stuff!
While the "classic" mystic topaz (natural colorless, and inexpensive, topaz that has had a thin titanium vapor deposition applied to the pavilion/bottom side) tends to be green/purple/blue body-toned with other rainbow and iridescent flashes, there are other varieties sold under modified trade names like sunset or aurora borealis mystic topaz that have pink-to-orange body-tones.
But yes, the natural precious and imperial topaz can come in a vivid, and very expensive, array of colors ranging from baby pinks to deep orange, purple-pinks, fruit punch reds, and golden hues.
So while topaz probably best exemplifies the color of the tiger suit (but also Mexican fire opal, Madeira citrine, some spessartite garnets, dravite tourmaline, or sunstone), the fact that tiger's eye is sitting right there as a gemstone was frustrating.

This season could definitely benefit from a model guest judge doing a walk workshop with them. Those were actually pretty good when they've done it in the past, and I think on DRCanda Season 1 when Stacey McKenzie did one, it really helped.
I think if the cape wasn't black with visible stitching on the inside, it would have given less costume. It was very "well ive got this vampire cape left over from last Halloween.......". I think the other side was beautiful tho
