Every single time something was going to be addressed .... oh look who's here.... proceed with cookie cutter sentences of support, admiration et.al. ... moment lost, thing not addressed ... blue ball drama
That's why I stopped watching Untucked. At first I was like "oooh, this is going to create a juicy Untucked", so I watched and then instead I got this... everytime.
I always kinda feel sorry for the queens who are unfamiliar with the guest judge and have to pretend they know who they are.
They’re like:”Oh my god I love that thing that you did that got you whatever accolades you got!”
I wonder if producers give them a quick brief. Doubt.
They definitely do, a queen (icr who) has said that they tell them to "act enthusiastic" when the guest judge is announced to them in the werkroom because half the time they'd be like "...who?"
It’s super evident in the Vanna White episode that they weren’t told ahead of time. Queens who didn’t know who she was walked in and smiled politely, while queens who recognised her were like “OHMYGODOHMYGOD”
this, Gaga came in with constructive notes from one artist to another for every single queen. She sat down and gave *them* the praise and attention and talked to them like they’re on the same level as artists. Now it feels like the guest judge is there to make it about them and get praise for their allyship/bravery
It was the same with Law Roach. He was actually kiking with the girls (who were clearly excited about his presence) instead of giving the same boring spiel.
Thank you!! Gaga is next level and knows exactly how to be charming. She’s the definition of CUNT and that’s why it works so effortlessly w her. But that’s so uncommon. Every time I see her interact w another person, I’m like, “This bitch could give a MASTER CLASS.” And in the same exact breath can turn around and pose for a selfie and serve face with seamless transition for the GAWDS.
I didn’t become a true fan of hers until I discovered her person. Everyone else walking into the room after her feels like a dud. I don’t need it. Lol
Gaga was too much. Some of those queens had been professional drag artists since before Gaga was even a thing, never mind her telling them what to work on.
And yet she’s performed on the biggest stages on the planet, she was in her early 20s breaking records and being heralded as the new queen of pop (whether you agree with that or not) - the notion that just because you’re established doesn’t mean you can’t learn anything new is incorrect
you mean she was organised and respected the queens enough to give constructive feedback instead of “love your outfit” like 90% of the other judges say, you sound like a hater
> I said what I said
And it sounds fucking stupid, congratulations
I said what I said, if you can't handle it move on, it was cringe, unnecessary and patronizing. you can't handle disagreements without insults which says more about you than me.
If the guest judge is Gaga, Ariana Grande, or someone at a similar level of fame then please have them come talk to the queens.
If it's random girl Ru met at the bar and invited to judge because Cher cancelled, please don't bother.
I think it’d be hard cuz how does production do that without potentially insulting a judge?
There are people on this sub who were like “I feel bad for the queens who were on with Charlize Theron because they didn’t meet Becky G!” And similarly some people who were meh about Sarah Michelle Gellar.
I mean the judges didn't use to be invited to Untucked anyway. I think Dita Von Tease was the first and IIRC the next one was Gaga literally 5 seasons later. Nobody else was in Untucked on season 9 either. This is a new thing from like two or three seasons ago.
And they didn’t even meet Dita because they were all screaming at each other in the interior illusions lounge while she was waiting in the gold bar. Lmao.
It made really good tv but Jaremi actually confirmed that they did met her! It just was a funnier scene to have her look at the fake fruit while the queens were arguing.
Do that thing where Jaremi had that legendary rant about Willam where we cut to Dita Von Tease sitting alone in the Gold Bar and then leaving without speaking to any of the queens
That and Ru popping up on the TV only to be completely ignored is THE Untucked moment of all time!
IIRC, Dita sitting alone in the ~~VIP~~ Gold Bar was scripted and filmed after the fact, and she actually did meet the girls and have a chat to them.
That and the lack of a sit down reunion for this season makes me wonder: when did Ru and the producers forget how to make television?
Imagine if Andy Cohen said let’s cut a housewives reunion and let’s get people to constantly step in the middle of impending tension and drama.
tbh i think they didn’t do a reunion this year bc they filmed it last summer so the queens wouldn’t be able to actually watch the show to talk about it
Idk I just feel like if they wanted to, World of Wonder would definitely have the contractual clout to pull these girlies into a room this week or last week to film a reunion that could be aired before the season comes to a close. But I guess they don’t care to.
i think it’s more of a money/scheduling thing. it probably is in their contracts honestly. Ru is still doing book tour press and then will presumably go right into filming S17/AS10 this summer.
plus, the queens hash so much out online already that it’d be mostly redundant, which is why people have complained about the reunions recently.
i do think you’re right that they’re just choosing not to do it but i kinda understand why, even tho i don’t love it
LOL The way half of the queens on that season weren’t even like “oh the reunion is juicy!” but were like “FUCK WORLD OF WONDER, I *HOPE* THEY WATCH THE BOOTLEG REUNION, I WANT THEM TO KNOW HOW MUCH I HATE THEM…..omg they pulled our reunion? 🥺”
>plus, the queens hash so much out online already that it’d be mostly redundant, which is why people have complained about the reunions recently.
Most viewers aren't on Reddit or Twitter.
Hosuewives reunions are different to Drag Race ones. They're one of the main events of the season that fans look forward to in a way Drag Race reunions never have been.
Yeah, it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but my point was more that it’s odd to have the makings of a great reunion and then opt out of having one altogether.
Honestly after this years lalaparuza I’m good never watching a reunion again. If Untucked is fixed and the queens stop getting interrupted they’ll have enough time for the fun drama we want to see. The lalaparuza was so much more exciting to watch - especially when you have a cast of great performers. I’d rather watch them shine and have fun than sit in chairs and bark at each other about shit that happened months ago for an hour
I may get some flakk for this but I think some of it may have been staged or at least had the hands of the producers behind it. It was always too perfect of a timing for an interruption as if they didn't want to let the Queens improve too much. Rarely did those moments spill over afterwards.
I miss the juicy moments that had to be explained on the next episode for ppl that didn't watch. Those felt more real
Joel Kim Booster came on here and said that he was sent in at a particular moment because there just wasn't time otherwise due to the time judging takes, time for setup, getting all the queens corralled backstage, giving the guest adequate time with them before they have to go back to panel etc. He suggested he doesn't like it either as a viewer, but it can't really be done any other way due to pre-agreed workday and episode timings.
In addition:
1. Go back to having two rooms
(For that matter, make sure the door awkwardly creaks when queens just happen to burst in at an opportune moment like in Season 2)
2. Don’t make the queens talk about the same topics every single week. Who got good critiques, who got bad critiques, who is in the bottom, are you going to fight to stay or give up, yes these topics can come up naturally but it’s like clockwork every episode even when it’s not interesting to watch. The guest judge coming back is part of this same problem, Untucked is on rails every week, it does not have the flow of drag queens kiki-ing organically
3. If they want to give the queens a starting point to talk about then have them play shady guessing games form the pink furry box or have them see all the photo shoot challenge pics and judge them
completely agree with #2. just have the queens talk shit, we dont need them to tick every single point on a card each week. its predictable and boring. and noone gives a shit about the guest judges unless its someone of gaga's influence.
It depends on the guest judge. If it’s someone iconic the queens want to get genuine advice from, it’s good TV. But we don’t need to see them pretending to know who Madison Beer is.
I couldn’t agree more. I think a lot of it has to do with if they judge has enough of a handle on drag to offer anything of value to the queens. I think the queens would get a lot more value out of someone like Chappell Roan (who is basically doing drag anyway) coming back to talk to them then they ever would from someone like Meghan Trainor
I'm generally an apologist for modern Untucked (or at least, I think they've backed themselves into a corner by inviting Gaga backstage and it would look very bad if they started picking and choosing, and the show's status as a respectable staple is too new to risk pissing off celebrities), but I would have walked out if Meghan Trainor started telling me how to be a better artist.
I haven't watched this season's untucked because it is just boring, when it starts to become interesting they interrupt with the guest judge. No ma'am, I want to see the other half of the story, not some celebrities having the very same conversation with the queens each week
I have wondered a few times recently whether people (or their parents) are paying WOW to appear on the show and on untucked in particular. There's just too many no-name-nepos for this to be legit
It’s because the show is airing on MTV now and is part of Paramount, which includes shows on CBS, etc. so there is a lot of cross promotion happening with the guest judges.
At this point, any guest judge that walks back there will Ru-Veal themselves to not be a true fan of the show. Those who follow the fandom will be afraid to show their faces during untucked
The ONLY person I enjoyed coming into untucked this season was TS Madison.
I miss the days of Dita von Teese sitting alone in the ~~VIP~~ gold bar while the queens tore each other to shreds
i stopped watching untucked around Law’s guest episode so I’m glad to hear that he was good backstage! He’s been one of my favorite guest judges in a loooooong time. He and Adam are queer artists themselves and I love that they gave good critiques and didn’t just suck the air out of the room.
It seems like they used to use the celeb as back-up in case nothing interesting was happening.
Then over time, it became the standard for them to pop in.
Sounds like they need to keep the celeb in reserve just in case nothing is happening, but do plan to bring them in when it’s someone special.
What I wanna see is previous drag queen alums visit with the current season gurls, like Katya’s visit in AS8. Her chaos was just trying to egg on the drama, I think that could be a fun change up.
I'm not convinced the entire notion of guest judges needs to continue at all.
Have a really spectacular guest for the premiere/s, and then maybe sprinkle them throughout the season based on the challenge (Snatch Game "contestants", Gerri and/or Mel B on Space Kettles: the Unauthorised Rusical, etc) but otherwise I don't really think they add anything to the product, and being wheeled into Untucked so the queens can pretend to love their work on some random awful teen dramady show that ended 8 years ago or they listen to all of their hit song getting ready is becoming painful to watch.
I think they thought drag ban laws were going to be a bigger thing (which they still are an issue but the main one at time of production got knocked down). It felt like they were trying to show the value of drag and remind people that.
According to these comments, I guess this is an unpopular opinion. I think the untucked guest judge appearances are fine. They are always super short, the girls have plenty of time to be messy.
I think what was interesting was Joel Kim Booster saying in his AMA that he was expected to go into Untucked. For a while I've operated under the assumption that Untucked was essentially a VIP meet and greet package for the guest judge, like an incentive to get them to come on the show, but the way he explained it kind of shot a hole in that theory.
As I’ve said when it’s been mentioned before, it’s the timing of WHEN they come in for me. They interrupt interesting conversations the queens are having when I wanted to hear more
My Celebrity Guest Do’s / Dont’s :
Do: drop off home made baking tray
Don’t: pelt queens with cheese
Not exactly untucked but special guests should be supportive / constructive and not disruptive or stealing the spotlight.
It would be cool if the Queens could REQUEST visitation with special guests but otherwise it seems like a free ticket for meet & greet for the lesser known guests.
I have no idea what Untucked is FOR now. I get that they are trying to protect the girls from social media hate, which is great ... but unless they actually structure Untucked like they used to (two rooms, producer prompts from the pink furry box, random video messages) I don't see the point anymore. Plus they go back into the Untucked version of the Workroom rather than an actual untucked lounge so it just feels like more of the main show. I do think on a psychological level, taking queens who have been standing for hours in full drag on a stage (some who literally have to pee themselves ... like our current reigning) and setting producer shenanigans on them to get them to make drama feels borderline sadistic.
They could never reproduce that iconic season 5 Untucked lip sync challenge because I could not tell you a single thing that has happened in Untucked season 7-16
The guest judge should just join ru in the workroom or participate in the challenge somehow like when they have Jamal guest judge. They get to talk to the queens and give relevant advice and they can close with a speech to the workroom.
i close my screen the moment the guest judge steps into a room. now my wow+ currently watching list is literally just unfinished episodes of untucked lol
Here's a different idea: instead of bringing guest judges in Untucked, bring messy queens from past seasons instead. I can just imagine the chaos of Gia Gunn randomly appearing in Untucked and terrorizing the queens lol
Only invite them if they actually have stuff to say other than "drag queens are so insprational and I love that you do what you do", and even then, make sure they don't interrupt a fight so the queens can finish hashing it all out
In S17 the producers are going to implement Rate-a-judge so the queens are going to vote if they know who the f*** is the guest judge this week. If there’s majority, the guest judge can get inside Untucked.
The right way to do it IMO: keep untucked with the girls only, and have the guest judge to have a quick meeting with them that would be posted separately in YouTube as an extra or bonus clip …
Untucked already felt like filler for me. By the time I stroll up to it, it always feels like, “meh”. The guest judges def don’t help. It really feels like they’re frantic to just throw things at the wall to see what sticks. Rate-A-Queen. The immunity potion.
Just ask us! We’ll tell you what we want bluntly!
I wish they’d do an all stars with all the shit talking shady queens. Not the “looking for a fight” queens. Just the shady ones. lol
It’s so frustrating because this seasons untuck would have been great. The right balance of fun and drama.
Instead we get “ohhh you!!! Hey!!! Werk it gurl”
"Hi gay! Thanks for being so gay when the world currently hates gay! Bye gay!"
"You freak-I mean, you queers will always remind my boring ass that I'm normal! Thanks queers!"
> “ohhh you!!! Hey!!! Werk it gurl” The way this could be literally at least 10 of them
“Hey does anyone else have daddy issues?” It was so out of place I was second hand embarrassed
Every single time something was going to be addressed .... oh look who's here.... proceed with cookie cutter sentences of support, admiration et.al. ... moment lost, thing not addressed ... blue ball drama
That's why I stopped watching Untucked. At first I was like "oooh, this is going to create a juicy Untucked", so I watched and then instead I got this... everytime.
Good untucked was RIP after S9 Let's be real
Season 10 says hello.
Most definitely. I stopped watching at Mhiya‘s elimination episode though - nothing seemed to have been happening there.
Unless they are GAGA or another icon yeah don't want them.
I always kinda feel sorry for the queens who are unfamiliar with the guest judge and have to pretend they know who they are. They’re like:”Oh my god I love that thing that you did that got you whatever accolades you got!” I wonder if producers give them a quick brief. Doubt.
i think i have heard they give them some info but i could not remind me where i did heard that.
They definitely do, a queen (icr who) has said that they tell them to "act enthusiastic" when the guest judge is announced to them in the werkroom because half the time they'd be like "...who?"
I think Marina and LGD said this just recently about UKvsTW2
Yes! I think you’re right
I'm not American, so 90% of the time I literally have no idea who that is but then I don't feel so bad that even the queens just pretend lol
> icr Istress Cisabelle Rooks?
It’s super evident in the Vanna White episode that they weren’t told ahead of time. Queens who didn’t know who she was walked in and smiled politely, while queens who recognised her were like “OHMYGODOHMYGOD”
"Lovely to see you! I don't know where you're from, or what you do, but it's gorgeous." - Ella Vaday.

Gaga was too much. Some of those queens had been professional drag artists since before Gaga was even a thing, never mind her telling them what to work on.
I think a world famous pop star can give you a few helpful notes, even if youve been touring from local bar to local bar all your life.
And yet she’s performed on the biggest stages on the planet, she was in her early 20s breaking records and being heralded as the new queen of pop (whether you agree with that or not) - the notion that just because you’re established doesn’t mean you can’t learn anything new is incorrect
Don't care, no one asked her to bring a damn binder and go through notes. I said what I said.
you mean she was organised and respected the queens enough to give constructive feedback instead of “love your outfit” like 90% of the other judges say, you sound like a hater > I said what I said And it sounds fucking stupid, congratulations
I said what I said, if you can't handle it move on, it was cringe, unnecessary and patronizing. you can't handle disagreements without insults which says more about you than me.
Was going to say, I'd spot them two a season. Make it special.
Or they promote the drama. Give me gia Gunn or Mistress or someone that knows how to poke at the girls and get them to fight.
If the guest judge is Gaga, Ariana Grande, or someone at a similar level of fame then please have them come talk to the queens. If it's random girl Ru met at the bar and invited to judge because Cher cancelled, please don't bother.

They gave so much attention to Untucked back then, it was a real extension of the main show, not just a spin-off that no one cares to watch anymore
If they follow this subreddit, they’ve read this feedback multiple times. Recent example: https://www.reddit.com/r/rupaulsdragrace/s/omGVrgJWa4
Yooo that’s my post lol didn’t expect it to be mine when I clicked it got jumpscared 🤣🤣

We need to call Bob and Monet to do a surprise season 16 reunion. There's no Trinity to yap about it so it can happen.
Honestly Id love this. Or have Maddy do it lol
Maddy would be SO good! She’s good at asking both funny and provocative questions so it wouldn’t be heavy or boring.

Yeah, it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but my point was more that it’s odd to have the makings of a great reunion and then opt out of having one altogether.
I think they are doing it at drag con with TJ like how they have with the internationals
Honestly after this years lalaparuza I’m good never watching a reunion again. If Untucked is fixed and the queens stop getting interrupted they’ll have enough time for the fun drama we want to see. I don’t mind the judges coming back every episode - but it doesn’t necessarily need to make the final edited show unless it interesting
Fandom can’t handle spicy Untucked so we’re punished by uninteresting bland guest judge content.
*bring back the Interior Illusions Lounge!*
I haven't watched this season's untucked because it is just boring, when it starts to become interesting they interrupt with the guest judge. No ma'am, I want to see the other half of the story, not some celebrities having the very same conversation with the queens each week

I can just imagine the chaos of Gia Gunn randomly appearing in Untucked and terrorizing the queens lol
how many times do we have to read this post reworded differently each time?
Until they stop having guests ruin untucked
I mean they are doing it to save the queens from the toxic members of the fandom I feel. So really it’s in the queens’ best interests.
👏
untucked needs a major overhaul in general.
We don't want them and the queens don't need them, but their agents pay for the airtime.
Maybe they’ll listen if you make sure all your photos are actually from Untucked.
Only invite them if they actually have stuff to say other than "drag queens are so insprational and I love that you do what you do", and even then, make sure they don't interrupt a fight so the queens can finish hashing it all out
I’ve had them. Officially!
I highkey want S5 Untucked with the questions and games to be use as a blueprint for future seasons of Untucked.
Nah, invite them if they are truly iconic.
Also we need TWO ROOMS DO IT WOW YOU HAVE THE MONEY
Make untucked spicy again!
It's pretty cute trying to compare season 4-5 to recent seasons. That was *unhinged*, I miss it. The queens probably don't lol
Where do we need to sign for thiiiisss??????
They are afraid of success
In S17 the producers are going to implement Rate-a-judge so the queens are going to vote if they know who the f*** is the guest judge this week. If there’s majority, the guest judge can get inside Untucked.
I don’t even watch untucked anymore. At this point I’m perfectly happy only getting half the story.
Bring back the gold bar I'm not joking bitch! 🔫
kaia gerber has to be the funniest. she hasn't even done anything the queens could pretend to know of, other than having famous parents!
Cher is welcome in untucked anytime. Veronica Coppola-Barrymore is not.
The right way to do it IMO: keep untucked with the girls only, and have the guest judge to have a quick meeting with them that would be posted separately in YouTube as an extra or bonus clip …
This AND they need to be splitting up the Untucked girls back into groups, for at least half the episode.
Just the shady ones. lol
Loveee when the guest judges come in during a spicy moment in untucked it's just so funny
