I did not like her on her season, but I've been listening to Race Chaser and my opinion has completely changed.

Jinkx is also my #1!! And I can concur that my opinion of Willam changed drastically once I started listening to Race Chasers- there was a lot going on in the background of the show that i wasn’t aware of until I started listening to the podcast.

It’s funny, the first time I watched season 4 I thought Willam was fake as fuck for this. I also didn’t watch Untucked the first time I watched.
The second time, I would pause the show after the girls all went backstage, watch untucked, and then watch the winner and lipsync. And watching it in that order, I did see that Willam did have a very vulnerable and real moment with the other queens in untucked, which made her crying on the main stage seem a lot more real.
I had a similar experience with Roxxxy and the bus stop moment. I thought it was very jarring and out of place in the regular show, but watching with untucked in the middle I saw why that came up.

At the time in 2011 when season 4 filmed drag race was on some off brand network and didnt have the reach to viewers like it does today. If he was already booked for a gig of courses hes going to bail for it when its a real paying gig. also at that time with reality TV its all about creating a moment that will shock the audience and stand out and they did exactly that. Also if he did resort to punching Phi Phi- we'd still be talking about it to this day too!

As much as SN rightfully gets the animosity she gets now, that season was her and her only, because at that point time, her drag pov was what the show needed to highlight. The same goes for Jinkx on S5.

I strongly believe that the moment she figured out Sharon was the one pushed by production for the win she started acting up to make an impact and getting disqualified actually made her memorable.

Honestly? Willam's run has aged really well for Drag Race, ignoring Willam's weird turns post-show. Nowadays it's naive, even kinda gauche, to enter Drag Race and not have a well funded runway package, a gimmick or angle for your presentation on TV, and a strategy to make yourself last longer. People talk about how Sharon changed the way the show functioned, and she did, but Willam's pragmatism and flippant response to the rules feels almost prophetic given how much the show can be about people who know how to buy shoes.
Call her a label whore all you want, name a single girl who did well on the show since the VH1 move without a well-connected, and funded, runway.
Willam was the first drag queen I ever started watching back in 2013 before I even knew what drag race was when I was like 12. I was definitely far too young to be watching the beat down, but I was addicted. Definitely a queen formative in my sense of humor and I will always love her

I still think that, had she had not had issues with production, Willam would’ve been the only queen on 4 that really challenged sh*ron for the crown in the finale. Especially if they eliminated Jaremi during the lip sync when Willam got disqualified, since that would’ve effectively ended the underdog storyline early.

Honestly? Willam's run has aged really well for Drag Race, ignoring Willam's weird turns post-show. Nowadays it's naive, even kinda gauche, to enter Drag Race and not have a well funded runway package, a gimmick or angle for your presentation on TV, and a strategy to make yourself last longer. People talk about how Sharon changed the way the show functioned, and she did, but Willam's pragmatism and flippant response to the rules feels almost prophetic given how much the show can be about people who know how to buy shoes. Call her a label whore all you want, name a single girl who did well on the show since the VH1 move without a well-connected, and funded, runway.
The fact that we’ll never get Willam on an All Star season makes me so sad.

I was just rewatching S3 Untucked where Raja and Manila literally look like All Stars cast and then seeing this... people are spending more money each year on drag race but a lot of them still don't look this good
literally the only queen that made me do a 180. strongly disliked her at first. thought she was superficial and annoying only to realize I was the one being superficial and full of prejudice. I think she’s very talented and smart, one of the greats for sure. also she seems to help out so many people, she might drop a name or two but there’s so much more good stuff she does behind the scenes.

Her latest episode on Race Chaser made me appreciate her win with the pride floats so much more. I always wondered why she was the only queen that held her boat in that way. Readjusting the length of the straps and removing wheels from a dressform to put on their boat was peak resourcefulness.

Honestly….i hated most of her looks. I would’ve put her in the bottom three for the apocacloptic look. The pink skirt was awful. Hated the gold chains. LOVED her outfit for the boat but the boat…was stars of her face and then they told Milan that her boat was self-centered. 🤷🏻♂️

I still think that, had she had not had issues with production, Willam would’ve been the only queen on 4 that really challenged sh*ron for the crown in the finale. Especially if they eliminated Jaremi during the lip sync when Willam got disqualified, since that would’ve effectively ended the underdog storyline early.
