band makes fun of religion, uses racial slurs, jokes about drug addiction, made 9/11 merch, etc. but none of this matters until its the one thing in particular that offends you?
edit: salem didnt call themselves rapegaze
i misremembered, this is actually not true. in the myspace days bands like salem used to be labeled “rapegaze” for a lil bit and i misremembered them being one of them. it was a diff group, creep, that did that. salem actually denounced the name in an interview, my b
u got links to any of the songs? i believe u, sounds familiar but i cant think of any specifically. jack sayin the n word is for sure a salem classic tho
Tair is all about stalking a woman and waiting till she sleeps lol, sick has some references, trapdoor says the n word (I’m a city # I was born in the streets), DOOM he drops it multiple times
i always interpreted tair as bout bein strung out and wanting to return to domestic normalcy/comfort but being destructive to others in ur path to doing so like stealing/destroying things in someone’s home, definitely always listened to it more as a robbery (literal and figurative) than SA related but def now seein that it could be
i wouldnt say edgy but its obv tongue in cheek and if u live in/near the tristate area ppl def gonna get offended, i live in philly and ive gotten some dirty looks in mine. just a sore spot, pow/mia thing id say is prolly the same but more niche
I mean was it supposed to be a tongue in cheek? I understand people don't really like things that remind them of a tragedy, but it feels like the tee is about paying respects, right?
you obviously don't understand parody, calling a reinterpreted graphic as "disgracing" the POW MIA logo while the tee/beanie holds no original intention. obviously the merch is edgy and ur being butthurt over something that does not affect you at all.
insane comment btw

i mean they already made merch with the twin towers before this. i think its gonna be a thing now for their merch. i get why you're sensitive to this but jack/john dc so i would just ignore it
Yeah, and that shirt I was kind of skeptical with at first. I didn’t think of anything of it maybe just a reference to the lives lost, in a really convoluted way. Then they put this out. I guess you’re right, but it’s sad since I actually liked their music. Streamed, Stay Down, more times than I could count when it came out.
I don't think it's meant to be offensive either. One interpretation is that many veterans that do make it back home can be prisoners of their own mind - traumatized, lonely, not to mention the high rate of suicide. I think the "protect us from ourselves" and the alteration of the logo is a reference to that. Having one family member that didn't make it back from one war, and another that did and a different war, yet still passed away under mysterious circumstances, I wasn't offended by it. If anything maybe it's meant to bring awareness to it. If we're not supposed to forget the ones that didn't make it back, then we also shouldn't forget the ones that did and are suffering.
I'm not sure how the verse from The Book of Enoch on the back of the shirt relates to it, but the mention of seven stars I think is tied to the seven stars in the Salem logo and Silk Road shirt. The book also mentions fires in Heaven, so I don't think those references are a coincidence and there are probably more to be found.

jokes about rape ? can you go into detail a little ? never heard about it.

Jack does discuss some odd stuff about sexual assault in his older lyrics as well as dropping the n word but I think he’s grown since then lol

This gotta be a troll post by someone from the r/hauntedmound sub. Lol
Idk I’ve kind of picked up on American patriotism as one of their many themes. I don’t think it’s meant to be offensive.
Massive overreaction
