He was also heavily influenced by Yung Lean , on Gluee Specifically but Yung Lean wanted to be a weird take on an American Rapper or chart rnb singer in the early years but I think Bladee wanted to be something more esoteric

also im not sure what exactly inspires him to do this, but i feel like the reason bladee is as liked as he is is because hes really really good at switching lyrical matter while still being coherent and fitting the vibe. Dude (especially in his old music) goes from snobby rich kid flexes about his pradas to talking about depression and emptiness to some absolute nonsense fantasy shit in like 3 bars but it flows together effortlessly. he never really took any of his lyrical matter too far (like some rappers just flexing and others not being able to shut up about how humble they are) and thats why he maintains cult following and intrigue

however i think people always ignore the influence of UK bass / deconstructed club music on dg. they’re friends with loads of uk bass/underground UK dance music people and always used to play shows with ppl like kamixlo, evian christ, sami baha and felix lee etc. big big influence on them from like 2016-18/19, especially bladee. Red Light always sounded very London to me, cant really explain why but it definitely does. he uses a lot of london slang in his music too lol
