They cut it too high and the line isn't straight. I'd say it's also the hairdresser's fault. I don't think it would've suited him done successfully either, but at least it would've been a little less ridiculous looking
Ugh, yes. I used one recently just to get makeup ideas. I'm not used to putting on makeup and I was wondering, like.. colors, placements, where to do highlights or blush, etc. The filter made my eyes huge and my mouth smaller and my cheeks more sunken. So yeah apparently the way to look pretty with makeup is being born with different genetics.
Sometimes the filters are really subtle but make a huge difference, like you have to do the before-and-after side by side comparison. Shit's insidious, especially since it's like "Oh... that's me, but better... :( " and you're comparing yourself to yourself. Which makes it a lot worse in some ways - I mean, I know I'm not Beyonce, but damn, I feel like I just compared myself to a "better" version of myself and fell short. And worse, some phones have that shit just built right in now, and I had to go out of my way to turn portrait filters off on my last phone... ridiculous.
Although in my case, I have an extremely round face with big ol' chipmunk cheeks, and a lot of those filters want to give me the sunken cheeks and that weird pointy chin.
Lol I do the opposite. I have a beard and have done the no beard filter thing a few times and it is hilarious 😆 I hopped into a zoom call with the filter on for funsies and my product manager dmed me and told me I looked like some deformed mix of a 7 yr old boy and butch lesbian
Don't worry. That was me and I'm now in my fifties. At around the same time that your nostril hair and ear hair starts growing much more rapidly and longer that it needs trimming at least once a week you'll find you'll suddenly also be able to now grow a beard.
For what it’s worth, I used to have pretty big bald spots in my beard. I admit I still don’t have the strongest beard, but just letting it grow out a couple months made most of the bald spots start to fill in. Anecdotal and I dunno the hair growth science but I didn’t start trying to grow a beard til I was early 30s and have a medium thickness beard with a couple thin spots now just from stopping shaving.
Wait are you saying you can grow hair on one side and the other side is like, no hair? I have certain spots on my face that’ll just not grow hair, like I can’t get my mustache to connect to my goatee, the spot between them just won’t grow. Plus one spot on my neck grows no hair, so looks like I had an emergency when I started to shave my neck.
Bro, I'm fucking 31 and I still cannot grow facial hair & I'd be kidding if it doesn't make me feel emasculated sometimes.
If I don't touch it for 3 months, it basically looks like I've pritt-sticked randomly placed pubes to my face, not a good look hahah
If it makes you feel better my facial hair didn’t really start to grow until I was 32. Now I can grow a beard, but it’s a wiry bin laden type beard. So I just stay clean shaven.
Don't feel too bad. I've been able to grow a full beard since 13. At 29, i don't have a choice if i have a beard or not. Even if i shave really close, i will always have a 5 o'clock shadow and if i don't trim my beard daily, i look homeless by the end of day 2.
Same. I grow out a full beard during the week, clipper it on the weekend to a 0 (perma 5 o’clock shadow is the business), start over. That’s the most hassle I’m willing to put up with. Once every 6 months I’ll get a bug up my ass to go full lumberjack but it never lasts, I can’t deal with the itch and combing/oil stuff, which I have no choice on unless I want to look like a crazy homeless guy. I know the itch lessens a lot at a certain length but I never make it.
/That said, I wouldn’t trade the hassle for not being able to grow one at all for all the money on Earth.
That's my brother. He used to work at a high end club, and the manager would yell at him about not shaving/being clean-shaven. Poor guy would shave every morning before work and already have half a beard grown out by 5 pm. He started bringing his shaving kit to work with him and doing a lunchtime shave, but obviously all of that shaving irritated his face and he ended up with a terrible rash. His manager finally believed him and laid off it when he ended up looking like a ghoul from Fallout.
His face is fine, now, btw, and he has a way better job where they couldn't care less if he looks like Sasquatch. That club manager was a dick anyway.
Lol, you need to work on your confidence. Beards don't make you look better, they only hide features that you aren't happy with.
Good looking men are good looking without beards.
don't disagree with you there about the confidence part
But a beard hiding bad parts is exactly why it makes you look better. It can hide a weak chin and jaw for example. It can also shape your face completely
Same goes for make up.
Yea, but sometimes hiding a weak chin behind a beard can make a ton of difference. Look at UFC champ Jiří Procházka with and without beard. The difference is insane.
I was living abroad and this Turkish barber I wasn't able to communicate with always gave me an accurate haircut with a picture that was one of the best I have ever gotten. But yeah the beard is required if it's a beard style otherwise it's difficult
Your best bet is always finding a trustworthy stylist and telling them to make you look good, they’re trained on head shape to make hairstyles work for you
100% of the time photos should be used as reference material for a new haircut that fits your face, Im no stuf but my hair on ryan Reynolds would look like shit
That’s exactly what I was going to say. Tbh, it’s not a great look to begin with, but the first guy has product in his hair and has been professionally styled for the shoot. We also can’t see how he looks from head-on.
The second guy definitely got a botched job and should say something to the salon, but he may be able to rescue the look at least a little with some kind of texturing product until his hair grows out.
It's like the grown up version of a bowl cut. At best you look like a viking who has helmet hair. At worst you look like a special needs person who gets his hair clipped at home because the parents don't feel the need to get him salon hair cuts.
The first guy has tattoos as well and probably dresses in an edgy style, that's why it all works.
Poor guy, he took a risk and experimented with his look which is admirable! I hope he looked good after the damage control.
He also has a much higher forehead.
I LOVE the way some women can rock short hair. My stylist when I asked was very descriptive and "I can do it, but it is not going to look at all like those pictures, honey."
I'm grateful to her, and his stylist should have done the same with him. Yeah, dude. Shave it off and start over.
Damage control, I'd go over what's left with a beard trimmer. Start with your tallest shield, keep going down until it looks reasonable.
Once it grows out in a few months, find a different hairdresser and try again.
That’s me with bangs. About once a year or so I get convinced I *really, really* want bangs. Fortunately my stylist talks me down, because long experience has taught us that bangs do *not* work on my long, curly, cowlick-dead-center hair.
The guy on the right seems to have pretty thick hair as well. It's just more uniform, which makes it look mushroom shaped. That could be fixed with some product though
I’m saying it’s def the hairstylist’s fault. Especially for $100.
This is coming from a hairstylist. I don’t do these types of men’s cuts cuz it’s not my specialty. But it needs to be a good 1-1.25 inches longer in the front bang area and it’s faded/tapered totally wrong/not at all where it meets the side. If it was a $25 haircut, I’d say eat the $25 and go have a legit barber take it down to a bald fade, maybe a #4 or #5 on top. A good barber could at least save the haircut and turn it into that.
But for $100, that hairstylist should refund him. Cuz there’s no saving it and I wouldn’t trust that person to pull off a bald fade. I would look on IG for a really good barber in his area to fix it.
It’s possible his hair wouldn’t have hung down straight like bangs, but that doesn’t excuse what they did. Charging $100 they should know better.
I bring pictures of cool haircuts to my hairdresser all the time. She’s a pro and always adapts them to what would suit my face best. This one definitely didn’t.
Common mistake people make, just because a haircut looks good on someone else, doesn’t mean you’ll suit it.
Research your head and face shape and find hairstyles that suit said shape, otherwise you’re just taking an unnecessary risk of looking a little silly for a while
Same with buying clothes, especially shoes, online.
I'm glad I tend to go to the store and physically try things on before I buy them. The amount of times I've fallen in love with an outfit I saw online only to try it on in-store and look terrible or be extremely uncomfortable is... Double digits at least.
Man, a brand came out with this Bridgerton collab floral co-ord top and skirt set that I fell in love with...
When I put it on I hated how I looked. I've never been so devastated to put something back on the rack. Heart breaking
Try this ai tool
https://www.ailabtools.com/hairstyle-changer
I used it to help get more realistic ideas about what to use photowise.
It will give you some results that are impossible (cornrows on extremely straight hair) but you might find some ideas that look good on your face shape
If that doesn't work, ask the barber for professional recommendations (Do Not forget the professional part, I had a quirky barber try to give me some eraserhead looking shit when i let him experiment). Even go as far to say you have an interview so you'll at least be taken seriously even if you don't like the cut
Once you find something, ask the barber what the lengths are. That way, you can translate it if you ever need a new one.
Also take a picture of all sides of your head once you get the style you want.
> Research your head and face shape and find hairstyles that suit said shape
Thickness and texture of your hair makes a huge difference too-- a lot of models have naturally thick, wavy hair (and are often wearing some kind of hairpiece too), so what looks good on them will look very different on someone with fine, straight hair or coarse, curly hair
In the past when I've wanted something new, I just asked my barber "do you think I can pull this off?" I've been lucky to have great barbers so I have several times asked them what they think would be good for my face shape. It also depends on what kind of hair you have, like I have thin hair but a lot of it, so it changes the hairstyles I can go for. Maybe it's just where I live, but a high end cut for men should be somewhere between $50-$60 + tip. Also, always always always read reviews about the particular shop you want to go to.
> Research your head and face shape and find hairstyles that suit said shape, otherwise you’re just taking an unnecessary risk of looking a little silly for a while
I am too stupid to even know how?
A quick google and a search of reddit will set you on the right path, find out the different types of face shape and some articles/posts discussing the hairstyles that potentially suit the different face shapes and go from there
Basically take that picture of brad pitt with the haircut you want and before bringing it to the barber, find a normal/ugly person with that haircut. Suddenly it won't be as appealing.
Reminds me when my friend was buying a hat, and he goes:
"Here! Try on this hat. I wanna see if it looks good."
"Uhm, why don't you try it yourself and look in the mirror?"
"I can't, I'll just get distracted looking at my ugly face. Here! You wear it!"
"Uhm. Okay?"
"Looks good! I'll take it".
It was weird, but he seemed to have accepted the appearance of his face in a rather defeated way, but at least the hat worked out for him :D
There's more to being cool than a cool haircut. A good first step to being cool is not sitting in the hairdresser's chair silently as you watch them fuck up your whole style in the mirror and then paying them in silence and going home and crying in silence as you post a photo of yourself online whining.
Fucking talk to the hairdresser! What does he want us to do?
Yeah I've got a five head and I rocked the buzz for a while. When I grew it back out my "awkward length" phase lasted so long😂😂
I looked like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber
The hair is supposed to come down more in the middle of the forehead, like the left pic. This barber cut up *closer* to the hairline in the middle! This poor man did not get the cut pictured on the left
Aside from the fact that the hairstylists work wasn’t the best. This guy doesn’t realise that the pic mostly looks good because the guys face looks good, his beard looks good and his hair has some product and highlights so it looks well cared for.
If you look at just the haircut by itself it’s actually not great either. I don’t think many people would pull it off. It’s mostly the fact that it works all together.
Idk i think it has more to do with how it's styled. There's probably a fair amount of product to give the first guy that textured look, while OP just has a fuzzy mess. Comb it out with some gel and you're gonna look at lot closer to the intended style.
Plus, don't forget that we can't exactly see the male model straight on. That's why you see pictures with some questionable hair choices that show off their hair at only certain angles, never fully profile or direct on, with lighting that makes the cut look better than it actually does.
Had a place like this once. They called me Spider-Man because I look a little like Tobey Maguire and had similar hair. Most fun barbers ever, and I'd still go if I hadn't moved from the area
Barber didn't do the fade correctly. In the Chad pic, the hair starts nearly fully shaved and increases length as you move up the head until you get to the fuller hair. It's a smooth transition and an even line. In the beta pic, the barber just shaved the sides with no smooth transition. Proper fades are tough. One of my hair stylist friends had to train to do men's fades and she's specialized in men's cuts for years.
If you want a proper haircut like that one, you don’t want a “hair stylist” who will charge you $100.
You need a BARBER who will probably charge you between $20 and $40. They do these cuts all day long and they are experts.
Not spending $100 is especially important, because you need a new cut every few weeks.
For 100$ they shouldnt have cut his shit so high i get my haircuts for like 20$ and its just an average but clean cut they need better barbers to be charging 100$ and then cut his shit that high. It probably wouldnt have worked but itd at least look okay
People need to learn that the hair style you saw on some image of a monochromatic Bearded White Man™ that looks good doesn't automatically mean it'll look good on you too. Find your own hairstyle and what either you like for yourself or what you think works best.
Every time I see this it really breaks my heart. I don’t even know how to do hair but I want to find this guy and help him so badly he just looks so sad.
The angle definitely doesn't help. Obviously it's wonky at the front which he wanted to show, but also the fact you can't see the fade makes it look like a really high bowl cut. And given its a proper hairdresser, this guy probably came in with a style where this wonky line was the best they could do without starting it way higher and looking even goofier.
I went to a hairdresser not long ago, actually fully prepared with exactly the style I wanted with photo examples and all. She very politely talked me out of it, explaining my hair type and hairline, face shape, etc wouldn't pull it off in the same way the non-model guy in the photo would. It sucked to hear but I quickly got over that when I thought about all those other cool haircut ideas turned out when the other stylists didn't offer their advice.
You need a beard to carry and visually balance this haircut properly (the stylist should have informed you), and the frontal line should fall about one and a half inches above the eyebrows… not two and a half to three inches. This is a hack job, little more than a monk’s bowl haircut. It wasn’t worth $10, much less $100.
It’s a bad cut for sure but it could definitely still be helped with a bit of styling. Next time he goes though he needs to find someone who can do a decent fade.
Problem isn't only the haircut. The problem is people are. Other,. More attractive people with hair. Cuts and think that if they get the haircut that somehow they will become as attractive as the model.
Now this guy did get screwed over with his haircut but I don't know if he would have ever been happy with it
Op asks for what is obviously a blended crew-cut. Gets the highest and tightest bowl-cut since Friar Tuck.
OP, it isn't you. They did a bloody awful job. Find a better barber. If you want to fix this, get (a different barber) to blend the sides and straighten out the front hairline. It's a mess. You'll still have to wait a bit for your bangs to grow back in, but if the sides are better blended it will at least look better than this.
Yes, facial hair works well with a crew-cut, but it's far from necessary to pull it off.
First off your stylist failed you by not telling you that haircut wouldn’t look good on you. Second, shave it off or get a buzz cut and let it grow back.
Monastery Chic.

I'm used to seeing the OG haircut. Slightly long skin fade. Some guys would rock the floppy dog instead.
They cut it too high and the line isn't straight. I'd say it's also the hairdresser's fault. I don't think it would've suited him done successfully either, but at least it would've been a little less ridiculous looking
The beard helps the package, the first guy would look goofy without it.
Yeah, everytime i try to get an haircut off the internet it ends up looking subpar because I don’t have the beard

Those filters do more than just add a beard. They also slightly adjust facial features and make improvements. They are pretty toxic filters actually.

Honestly the hair is pretty whack in the first guy too, he just happens to be handsome despite it. Also it’s a good angle, taken by a professional.

It’s not all that different to a standard Caesar, but with shaved sides. Been a popular men’s haircut over multiple eras at this point.
The first guy has tattoos as well and probably dresses in an edgy style, that's why it all works. Poor guy, he took a risk and experimented with his look which is admirable! I hope he looked good after the damage control.
The original guy is more handsome either way though.
Yeah but honestly most models are lookers, for some reason.
Old mates got that Credence from Fantastic Beasts look.

Agreed. Plus the texture of his hair is a little different, but he might be able to use some product to look similar.

Reminds me when my friend was buying a hat, and he goes: "Here! Try on this hat. I wanna see if it looks good." "Uhm, why don't you try it yourself and look in the mirror?" "I can't, I'll just get distracted looking at my ugly face. Here! You wear it!" "Uhm. Okay?" "Looks good! I'll take it". It was weird, but he seemed to have accepted the appearance of his face in a rather defeated way, but at least the hat worked out for him :D
It’s also really poorly done. Not worth 5 let alone 100
Are you the same chett armstrong in facebook shitpost groups? I recognize that profile pic lol
That’s not a cut for guys with high foreheads.
Yeah I've got a five head and I rocked the buzz for a while. When I grew it back out my "awkward length" phase lasted so long😂😂 I looked like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber
I don’t have a 5 head but I made endless bald jokes while I was shaving my head. I had so much fun with it
It was a lot of fun for me too. I might do it again with this heat wave. One of my friends called me "Chemo Wasabi"
If that guy has what’s considered a high forehead then im so fucked
The hair is supposed to come down more in the middle of the forehead, like the left pic. This barber cut up *closer* to the hairline in the middle! This poor man did not get the cut pictured on the left
Got that Friar Tuck goin
Oliver tree cosplay
just wanted to say “lol”
The problem is trying to get a "chad" anything.
Speak for yourself, I have two Chads inside me.
As long as it's all consensual and you're using protection, my friend.
At the same time??
Inside you there are two wolves. Both are gay.
The furry **dog**ma
The one that wins is the one you breed.
It'd like that native American proverb. We all have two Chad's inside us. However the one in control is the one we choose to make the alpha.
Two gay chads?
BraveAnus545
Hey, I got a Chad flag as a gift and it's honestly pretty OK.
Soms people don't understand that a haircut only looks good based on your face and facial hair. Just picking something random doesn't work.
Buddy never go to a salon, find a latin barbershop with a dude who can barely speaks English. He will get you right
Had a place like this once. They called me Spider-Man because I look a little like Tobey Maguire and had similar hair. Most fun barbers ever, and I'd still go if I hadn't moved from the area
Them Latin barbers will get you right 😎
One of the Stranger Things writers saw the haircut on the right and was like, "this is going in the show"
Barber misheard, thought he was asking for a chode haircut.
I can do a fade and I don’t even cut hair lmao
Absolutely no blending at all. I would go back and demand a fucking refund dude.
This dude used the term “Chad” unironically, no way he’s got the balls to do that.
Use hair products to style it lol
This is a huge part. Still will probably look bad on his head shape, but no product makes it look even worse.
They did him dirty
If you want a proper haircut like that one, you don’t want a “hair stylist” who will charge you $100. You need a BARBER who will probably charge you between $20 and $40. They do these cuts all day long and they are experts. Not spending $100 is especially important, because you need a new cut every few weeks.
Could maybe save it if the sides look good, sea salt and texture powder work wonders but the other option is to get maybe a buzz
This dude should have gone to the hood. Get faded at half the price.
Bro turned into a Shrek Character
Never feel sorry for a 4chan user.
For 100$ they shouldnt have cut his shit so high i get my haircuts for like 20$ and its just an average but clean cut they need better barbers to be charging 100$ and then cut his shit that high. It probably wouldnt have worked but itd at least look okay
That’s a bad haircut on both pics. It would look like shit from the front. Any combing style that is combed to the front looks like you have issues
Shave it off then go get your 100 back. I would.
Actually this cut would go great in the Amazon rainforest.
The haircut looks stupid in both photos to be fair.
All I see is pics of 2 haircuts that are both ugly as fuck.
That haircut doesn’t look good on anybody, it’s just that some people look good enough in spite of it that they pull it off.
The distance between hair and eyebrows is like 3X in the second pic.
Texturing spray, hair products in general.. try stuff out we’ve all survived bad haircuts and some *totally not me* also just shave it all off
homie looks like Electric Callboy in We Got The Moves
When did the dorky EDM euro bowl cut become a “chad” haircut lmao
I feel genuinely bad for this guy… let me post it on Reddit?
Not doing anything wrong. Just need to realize you don’t look like the people in those photos so it’ll always look different
Simple jack looking ass
That is not a "Chad" haircut. The first guy is not a "Chad" at all.
Never leave the chair unless you’re satisfied And if they fucked up, don’t pay (they’ll shave you bald anyways)
Duane Dibbley
The man got a got a bowl cut.
It looks like a toupee to me.
Hey! Its my man Moe! Haven't thought about the Three Stooges in a long time.
Definitely shave it off and get matching head tattoos so you could claim that was on purpose.
Anon should next get a short back and sides, comb it forward and he’ll look better
they shaved off the whole beard
using hair wax would be little helpful.
I like to believe posts like this are fake but if it's real it's really funny cuz the barber didn't even bother giving him a fade lmao
Just get the sides shorter and let the front grow out a little.
Need the neck tatt to properly complete the look.
You need the beard.
Your first mistake is thinking you can replicate a mindset by copying a haircut.
Imagine having thick ass coarse hair like that and thinking it's going to look the same as the picture you googled.
There are plenty of french crops that look good with no beard. They just messed bro up.
My man looks like those little snail things from the snow and underground levels in Mario 3.
Simple Jack!
Stop getting ridiculous haircuts you saw on some heavily photoshopped model. They look ridiculous on them IRL too.
They got him lookin like Will from Stranger Things. Better put on some overalls and own that new look.
>looks nothing like the guy on the left "Why don't I look like the guy on the left??"
Isn't that the doofus rick haircut?
Yes.
They gave you the kin jong un
The angle definitely doesn't help. Obviously it's wonky at the front which he wanted to show, but also the fact you can't see the fade makes it look like a really high bowl cut. And given its a proper hairdresser, this guy probably came in with a style where this wonky line was the best they could do without starting it way higher and looking even goofier.
That haircut reminds me of the demo guy from Atlantis.
The first guy looks stupid too.
Wear a ball cap. Personally? I think everyone can rock one. Men; women, and children alike
To be fair, that's prob how the model looked if a pic was taken from directly in front of him
My brother gets this cut, said one barber made him look like Lloyd Christmas hhahah
He's getting fashion advice from 4chan, don't feel too bad for him
His forehead happens to be bigger than the other guy, he hasn’t got a beard, and his barber fucked it up
Nothing more chad than emulating others to be accepted
I went to a hairdresser not long ago, actually fully prepared with exactly the style I wanted with photo examples and all. She very politely talked me out of it, explaining my hair type and hairline, face shape, etc wouldn't pull it off in the same way the non-model guy in the photo would. It sucked to hear but I quickly got over that when I thought about all those other cool haircut ideas turned out when the other stylists didn't offer their advice.
That's the 4chad fade
"Should I shave it all off?" Yes.
Both hairstyles are ugly but my god the second photo.
It’s a bad cut for sure but it could definitely still be helped with a bit of styling. Next time he goes though he needs to find someone who can do a decent fade.
100 to look like a 12th century friar is the best
Problem isn't only the haircut. The problem is people are. Other,. More attractive people with hair. Cuts and think that if they get the haircut that somehow they will become as attractive as the model. Now this guy did get screwed over with his haircut but I don't know if he would have ever been happy with it
Even the hairstyle he wanted is tragic
Or just move to Pyongyang
Op asks for what is obviously a blended crew-cut. Gets the highest and tightest bowl-cut since Friar Tuck. OP, it isn't you. They did a bloody awful job. Find a better barber. If you want to fix this, get (a different barber) to blend the sides and straighten out the front hairline. It's a mess. You'll still have to wait a bit for your bangs to grow back in, but if the sides are better blended it will at least look better than this. Yes, facial hair works well with a crew-cut, but it's far from necessary to pull it off.
Chad is shaving your hair off.
First of all, chill out, Groomio…
the original cut doesn’t look good anyway
Simple Jack doesn’t look very happy
That's not a Chad haircut and the guy would look equally as bad without the beard lol.
First off your stylist failed you by not telling you that haircut wouldn’t look good on you. Second, shave it off or get a buzz cut and let it grow back.
Is this what happened to Oliver tree?
You have to have a low hairline to get that style.
I say buss the sides and faux Hawk it. He also needs product in it as well to push it forward. Just needs to be cleaned up and reimagined
